Yo creo que Kojima también quiso recrear MGS1 con mejores gráficos pero él, como el genio que es, adaptó la esencia del primer Metal Gear en este segundo título como si cual remake se tratara solo que con un nuevo personaje, quien Kojima mismo menciona que es Snake pero desde otra perspectiva, y con diferentes escenarios. Llego a esta conclusión por la gran semejanza en el desarrollo de los acontecimientos entre ambos títulos (lo cual es perceptible por el jugador) y además por el S3 plan que se refiere a Solid Snake Simulation (aunque luego lo acomodan al plan de las sociedades o algo así jeje, como un antagonista de la experiencia final a transmitir del juego: pasar la información a la sociedad del futuro). Esta es mi opinión.

I just love how MGS4 is the outcome of the experiment that The Patriots did with S3 plan on Raiden. Played like a violin, it's a beautiful piece of genius.

I still think Raiden's first design was bad for the MGS saga, but they got it right on MGS4.

Raiden is a fucking ingenous character. You go into the game expecting to play the typical 'hero' (Snake) And instead what you get is a whiny young boy who thinks he's seen it all due to his hours of 'VR training', aspires to be like the 'hero' and is removed from reality the whole time (spoilers). I'm astonished how so many people don't realise he is an extension of the player even when your name is on his dogtags in the last cutscene. His appearing in MGS4 completely defeated his purpose.

No difference between HD version and standard version, apart from that it's the Substance version, but that's just an expansion like the VR missions, doesn't give any more story information. You want to play MGS4, that's where everything is explained.

You should play MGS4, it explains everything. Basically, GW is one of four AIs that run everything. They are connected by a fith AI; JD. With this system the Patriots control everything that happens, and can control soldier's emotions because of nanomachines. And Solid Snake simulation was supposedly a test for Raiden based on Snake's infiltration in MGS1 created by the Patriots, however there was another reason for Raiden being sent, I think it was to destory GW but I cant remember :P
