    yea man i have seen few videos of the 20/80 drummer the one that really got me is when he was trying to play a solo of Eric Moore and going in so many details in analyzing it, but it sounded like 0.5% like Eric Moore. Nothing against sharing knowledge yes but talking like you are the expert while actually having not much to offer is not right 😅

    This…is NOT a good direction for the drumming community. Find a better use of your time and expertise. Nate has been around for years and has provided tons of useful and insightful content. Be a positive influence. Reaction videos like this?!…not cool man.

      I have less of an issue with the format of the video ( watched this one and the one reviewing a lesson from Mike Johnston) than I have with the some of the vitriol/comments being thrown around in the aftermath at Nate. I don't think that's really on Mr. Springer for creating this type of content, he has stated in his own video how much he appreciates and respects Nate and his channel. However just by the nature of the content shared this has opened a side of the community that is all to human but not as desirable to witness...maybe it's a good thing some of this stuff is coming to light, so then we address said issues and be better as a community.

    I have a lot of questions!! How do you tune each drumhead? top and bottom the same? Do the hammered tube version sound different than imperial lugs? The different tunings sound great

    • @SimonSpringerMusic
      @SimonSpringerMusic 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Bottom is pretty tight (around 3-4 half turns on every screw) and stays the same throughout all the demos. The top then does all the different tensions from super low to super high. I have no idea how much the tube lugs would actually change the sound, but I would assume the difference is rather small.

    I think I get the point that he’s teaching a concept to test, evaluate and benchmark new technique, which is analogous to training AI to develop GO tactics by data, instead of programming the tactics directly. I agree the title is click-baity and inaccurate and the concept is a bit confusing to beginners, but as a pro and TH-camr yourself I’m sure you can totally get it. I think it would be more helpful to perhaps explain the confusing parts to beginners than to act confused. You are a much better teacher than an actor😂

    Binder clips and a handkerchief make a super versatile system for drum dampening. Either folded/rolled up to the size and orientation you want, or just simply cover the whole drum head with it and clip it into place. Seemed so obvious after I started doing it. Thanks for the edit and the time to fully check out my reaction videos 🙏. It's NOT about negativity here - or putting others down. Far from it! I want to help students dissect lesson material and filter it for great and maybe not so useful information. My intent is to mainly point out stuff that is awesome. I had nothing bad to say about the Mike Johnston lesson. It was a great video. And I do like 80/20's channel, I think he has some great content out there. Unfortunately this lesson here is below his normal standards, in my humble opinion. I am genuinely watching these videos for the first time on camera and I wanted this lesson to be great - but it disapointed me. I am sure in the future I will critique another 80/20 lesson and it might be amazing! But this here is what it is and I cannot change my genuine reaction and honest opinion. I hope that I was still able to be very respectful and as objective as possible and I will never be shaming or hating 80/20 or any other teacher. And about the clickbait: Yes, sure, we all do that 😅. No worries here 😉. I loved the sensational title and it made me excited for the video.

    Excellent video! I just picked up the white Hybrid maple series, and it’s the best maple kit I’ve ever owned. It compliments my early 90’s Power recording customs. And, I agree with the O-rings….they sound great, for what they are. I’ve got them on my Tom’s as well, as a quick fix. And, that acrolite sounded REALLY nice. Btw…that M1 snare dampener is very rim specific…especially the older models. I’ve never had any problems with mine, but, when I was messing around with them in a local music store on a few different snares I noticed they did fit a bit differently depending on which M1, and what snares. But, I I never had the issues you were having. If you like how it sounds when yours works, I’d send it back and tell them what the issue is….maybe get a replacement. Those things aren’t cheap. With that said, it works really well (obviously, when not having those kinds of issues) and you can fold the leather onto itself to change the amount of dampening. Great video!…thank you for sharing.👍

    • @SimonSpringerMusic
      @SimonSpringerMusic 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you 🙏! And nice insight on the M1 - it could definitely be a rim problem. However, other solutions like the felt strap are much more practical, so I am not gonna mess around with the M1 😉...

    • @phillamoore157
      @phillamoore157 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ Yup….it’s the rim on the M1. I got mine as a gift that looked “appropriate” for a custom made snare….it’s the rime height that can very from drums to drum (which I didn’t even know till I got that product, btw). Anyway, you’re right…other solutions that sound as good (or better) for MUCH less. Looking forward to going through your back catalog. I’d KILL for one of those late 80’s/early 90’s Yamaha piccolo’s all the greats were using. Vinnie got a tone from the God’s with that snare on that Zildjian Day Buddy Rich thing he did…at least I think that’s what that event was. Glad to see a “quality” channel showing these instruments off, properly. 👍

Always have played dual chained doubles and am in the process of getting a new pedal and was leaning towards trying a DD, but i mainly play a lot more Bluesy/Rock/Punk styles, maybe a little metal that’d call for some faster kicks that call for a double pedal. Watching and hearing how fast and precise ur kicks and technique was is how I play as well and you sound amazing man. Gunna try the strap
