hi, this makes the block stronger and also prevents twisting/bowing of the block. The thickness is aprx 1,5cm although this is also depending on every gun specifications!!
Every speargun video: Here is how I make everything by hand. Slooooooowly chiseling away. Hand polishing it, till perfection. Those are sticks with holes! Routers and templates make them easy to make! Stop overpaying the amount of craft which goes into them.

the finish is a 2-coat teak-oil mixture. The wood is burma teak!!!

This is Burmese Teak wood Ross, not meranti... The only con of Teak wood is the price :-/

@@Ross-ts2kk avoid it. Use better iroko but leave it to dry very well before laminating
