Happy Quinta
We're Daniel and Stella, moved from Berlin to try a new lifestyle on the countryside of Portugal.
#14 Moving our tiny house to a new, river safe spot. Two tractors, ramp, wood planks and skill!
Since the initial tiny house place was too close to the river, we had to move things around a bit. It took a few days to completely unload the tiny house while having our regular work days, and roughly three days to move everything back in.
We're very happy that everything went well, even thought we get scared. It's a fragile structure handled by super strong tractors.

This is the veeery first video in our monthly updates playlist! We've decided to share these updates each month to help us remember and share everything (or most of it) that's happening around here. April was a super nice month. With the first sunny days, we got to spend more time outdoors, even though the weather was unpredictable like in Germany-a wild mix of sun and rain! We started planting...
#12 Glamping tent, costs and guests!
Now in summer, many friends and family have signed up to visit us on our land 🥳 As we currently live in a tiny house, we don't really have room for guests. Therefore, we have decided to set up a glamping tent. We have summarized our learnings, problems and the costs for the glamping tent for you in this video. #glamping #glampingtent #glampingnotcamping

The First month on our land and in our tiny house was full of adventures and many first times. The river flooded, we had now running water and no internet yet, we explored our neighbourhood, enjoyed the nature, we had our first guest and Bonnie destroyed the bathroom... It is hard to believe that all of this is not a long time ago 😅 #newbeginnings #portugal #tinyhouse #tinyhouselife #countrysid...

hi Guys i just found you on TH-cam, i would love to follow your Journey . a peace of advice, remove the back ground music in specially when you are talking because that will put people off of watching your videos including myself , is very annoying less to you guys music back ground its not good . love your video.
Ohhh thanks a lot for the tip! I just went to some other channels we liked and noticed that they don't have this background music! Thanks!
Basically you had poorly planned this and from the start should have built the base then moved the little shack in one move
Poorly planned? Horrible planned! We're slowly learning... And paying the price for the mistake - but so far, all good!

definitly much better now...great to see real life solutions made or projected by city people...just kidding guys, god job, lets see the next chapters!! keep them coming. And the visitor frog, she is the dectective of the frog comunity, checking on this strange not natural object "the tent" to report.... :)))
hahah yes! Bonnie is suuuper curious - and a frog like that made her even more curous! Will keep you posted - new videos coming soon! We're preparing now the house construction update and the puppies video!
Lovely video, really interesting! Didnt you plan to build a house? What is the status on this one and how do the plans look like? :)
Hold on a minute! We're in the middle of editing the construction video right now (but we're posting this one only on the 14th). But here's a little spoiler: the construction crew is on vacation, and we still don't have a roof! 🥲⛈️😆
💚
yes this year was a lot of rain , atipically I would say, but because the rain is needed in a country that some years , a lot of years in the last decade was without much of it, its good because it avoids cities to run out of tube water, and for the fires...this year is a summer wioth less fires because it rained a lot...but dont count with years like this past...normally does not rain as much i mean a lot less...but i guess in the north is going to have always some more, from coimbra city down it beguins to be the more dry Portugal country.... but the nature around you is splendid, very nice choice....but be aware of the river, imagine always one super rainy run, like 2 to 4 days of havy rains , rivers are not clean, so trees they fall in the borders and it can block the natural flow, in thunderstorms one day can be furious, in Portugal from far away to farway times there are news of flods from rivers its not common but it to hapens so be aware thats always a thing with nature be more concious and aware has you are basically without imidiate help... but apart from it its good, I live in Lisbon metropolitan area, but I am from a small interior city so I need Nature, and this city now for the 35 years living in it , I am feed up with concrete landscape...but well live goes on i guess!!! keep the videos coming!!! cheers
Thanks for all your comments! We totally get it-we're a bit tired of all the concrete, too! But we do enjoy exploring cities whenever we get the chance to travel. Maybe it’s time for you to start looking for a spot in the countryside as well!
1:00 “em abril ,águas mil”😉
"Der April macht was er will" 🤣
Man, that is really really the proof when humans want they will move earth and water to achive a goal!!! congratulations from a Portuguese guy, saw already 3 of your videos and I liked it. the land looks amazing...keep up the spirit!
Wooop woop! Thanks! We are still trying to make them nice, it's actually quite hard haha - and yes, super happy with the new life here!
Have you bought the Tiny House in Portugal ? If not, was expensive the shipping? Thanks 😊
We bought the tiny house with this Portuguese company Casagae (casagaea.eu/en/). We would still buy it again after living here for a few months BUT highly recommend to see this video where we talk in details about some issues: th-cam.com/video/Zr9rDADk4EE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=HJjLsRwd5wHHeMN3
Hello, Daniel and Stella! The person speaking to you here is Guilherme, an Uber driver who lives in Povoa de Varzim. One time I made Daniel put Bonnie in a plastic bag to get into my car. 🤣🤣 I realized that he speaks Portuguese like the people of Pernambuco, especially because, obviously, he is from Pernambuco. How cool to see your project here on the internet! I wish you much success in this endeavor!
HAHAHAHA How did you find us here! haha ahh great to see this message, we laughed a lot here! By the way, Bonnie is waiting for puppies! We might have 4 or 5 additional Border Collies puppies running around for some time (we will need more plastic bags! 🤣🤣🤣🤣).
🍀❤️🌟
Omg...you are paying way too much money for everything. 100k for the land is ridiculous. 1h rural land is worth 10k nowadays. 300k for the house...lol. Sorry my friend but you didn't do any homework. You must be a cow...because they are milking you dry.
True! It's a mix of high standards and being spoiled! 🤣

Ahh! We're working on the videos! It's harder than expected to edit and prepare the things haha - If we knew how to renovate houses, we would have taken a ruin in better conditions to reuse the structure. Anyway, the tiny house allows a lot of flexibility! Super helpful!
Welcome to Portugal 🙂 why didn't u get a solar power set up for electricity? Almost the same u spend in the pools.
We tried! But the battery setup was super expensive - at least the companies we found around here.
@@HappyQuinta it would pay off in the long run 🙂
Sejam bem vindos! Que tudo vos corra bem! Um abraço do concelho de Mafra.
Muito obrigado! 🤗❤️
Amazing job guys!
Thank you! It was a very exciting day 😅
So you live in a tiny house until your house is build?
Yes! And so far - no regrets! The tiny house is actually super comfy.
I'm from Brazil and had a grandmother born in Germany. So it's a magic mix. Good luck for you!
Ahhh that's so nice! Thank a lot ❤️
Great information, than you for sharing! What is the cost per square meter to build a house in that area of Portugal?
I believe it could go as low as 1200 per square meter - of course on the other end the sky is the limit haha 🤣 (The hardest part is actually to find construction companies)
Thank you! Indeed, I keep hearing the biggest challenge is to find good builders.
I worked a lot in Portugal, being from Madrid I think people in general move at slower pace there. Chill vibes everywhere. I have been told many times no body works serious there in some areas, people can not be trust 100% to work by their own or had no interest. I love the landscape and the friendly people, never had an annoying experience in a restaurant or something like that. Food variety was a thing for some the guys y work with, but I love Portuguese food, plain menu of the day in most places is really good. Food quality in rural areas is very noticeable, you can taste fresh local vegetables and buy some very cheap, that is very very nice. I have bought crazy quality fruit on the road shoulder´s outside of many villages. I love eating local food being from Spain, just did the same in Portugal and never regret it hehehe. Ice cold homes are a thing there, I remember well an old home in Sintra, near Palacio da Pena, it was so cold in January I never being so freeze for a week in my life. Nice video!
We're learning! But at the end of the day, we wanted a slow pace environment - we just need to adapt at it now! (Loving it so far!)
Go on, never give up for own dreams.
Woop woop!
How did you find your property - internet, estate agent, some other way?
We used the website www.idealista.pt - kind of random, scheduled a couple of visits and decided for this one!
Elon Musk (don’t even mention his name he’s not worth it) by the way, he’s not a genius, he’s a horrible human being, because the way he treats his workers he treats them like slaves and he pays them poverty wages wages etc. he fires his workers whenever he wants to etc. his workers have no rights whatsoever!
We just wanted the internet (it's faster download and upload 😅)
Do the people speak english or is speaking Portuguese a must?
elder dont speak english .. english is more in tourism places .... but of course there are exceptions... but if you come to live in a country you should learn basic portuguese to be more easy integrate in the community. im 59yo i speak 4 languages french portuguese english and a bit of german and i understand spanish or italyen which i will reply in portuguese or english ^^
True! It's harder to find elders speaking English - but even without Portuguese, they are all so friendly that you'll manage things around for sure!
Agree with other viewpoints (I say that even though I’m British and don’t live in Portugal 😂) but also… us westerners always criticise foreigners that do not integrate so really we should do the same when we decide to immigrate….
Guys so happy you are living with us! As a Portuguese I welcome you. Your points are dead right, our people are wonderful with a few rotten apples here and that. Service is horrible, quite so, I don't understand it. We DO like foreigners and Brazilians. We don't like anyone that comes here to cause trouble, litter, rob and talk demeaningly about our land, people or culture. If you abuse the system and do this kind of thing, believe me, Portuguese will not be nice, but that's with everyone not just Brazilians. Online purchases, I hv been a victim too, so be VERY, VERY careful. The dogs left or let outside to roam is terrible. You see a lot of dog litter because of that, but most dogs out are very nice. The mail system co. CTT is just horrible, horrible, but no place is perfect. I hope your plans to construct finalize quite soon, so you can build and stay with us for good. Boa sorte❤
Muito obrigado! It's just some things that it takes time to get used to and to understand how things work. Very happy so far! Construction keep on happening! They're now working on the roof!
Moin Moin.
Toi Toi Toi
It's incredible how most Brazilians are always getting burned by something, it seems like they are never happy with anything! Everyone knows that there is no perfect country!
Take out eucalyptus and mimosas. They are invasive and very flammable. Project Kamp channel has been testing best ways to do this to prevent regeneration from the roots. Best wishes.
Thanks for the advice! We follow Project Kamp as wenn and saw the video. We are bit scared of all the flammable plants around us. We will definitely start to clean our property soon.
Funny how some Portuguese real estate agents advertise way worst properties here, close to the prices of the ones near Berlin 2:48
That's also crazy!
can you produce undertitles in portuguese. +lease'
Ahhh we're trying! I believe some of the first videos we have PT subtitles - but to be honest, we're struggling to get a flow of producing and editing the videos. We need more time to improve things.. Will do, just be a bit patient pleeeease 😘 🥹
Spot on! 😂
In my humble opinion, you are in one of the best parts of Portugal. It can be quite humid in the winter, but it makes up for it the rest of the year because you won’t have problems with droughts and fires. At the same time, you are close to some very beautiful areas of Portugal, as well as Galicia. You are near Melgaço, Ponte de Lima, Arcos de Valdevez, and Ponte da Barca, where you can eat very well and there is a lot to explore (you can explore the Vez walkways towards Sistelo). If you need to go to a big city, Braga is not very close, but it’s not too far either. Enjoy!
Ahhh yes yes - we're still exploring the area, but you're right! Whenever we take the car for a short ride around here, it's sooo nice! Took notes of the places! Thanks for sharing!
Absolute richtig gemacht.
Hello, I like your channel, interesting, your life project in Portugal, by the way Daniel, your face is more Portuguese than Brazilian, you have Portuguese descent...we must take into account that 855 of the Brazilian genes are of Portuguese origin... .a hug
Ha! Not really - at least not close enough descendent that could help me with a visa! 🤣 Take care!
Congratulations 🎉 but I believe 100k is too expensive for what you get. Have you checked the average price of lands in that region ?
We did search around a bit, but honestly, on the day we bought it, I was more worried about overpaying for the land. Even after we made the purchase, we kept looking at other properties and realized we couldn't find anything quite like this one for the price!
Olá, bem vindos a Portugal Daniel e Stella. You’re doing great with the tent and the tiny house, looking forward to see what you’re doing next, maybe an eco resort? 😁
Obrigada 🫶 Haha, that’s a great idea. We’re actually thinking about something like that for the future. For now, though, the land is still a work in progress, and we’re focused on getting the house ready and letting the land recover. But we definitely have a lot of dreams and ideas in mind. Thanks for the warm welcome!
Please don’t feel bad because of my comment but may be you are not prepared to live off grid in nature. It seems you like to live with everything perfect around you. In my opinion you are more the type of persons who like living in a perfect flat in a city in a non Latin country where people are more organized and “Professional”. I like your tiny house and the place where you are living but I wouldn’t live there. I hope you are happy living in Portugal. I am from northwest of Spain and I like Portugal and Portugal people a lot.
Thank you so much for your comment and for sharing your thoughts with me. I truly appreciate your honesty and your perspective on the differences between city and country living. Growing up in Berlin, I’ve only known the pace and lifestyle of city life, so I’m very aware that living in the countryside is a completely different experience. I just moved to the countryside at the end of February this year, so I’m still very new to this way of life and have much to learn. That said, I’m genuinely excited about the journey ahead. I love the peace, the closeness to nature, and the kindness of the people here in Portugal. Thank you again for your message. I’m happy to hear that you have a fondness for Portugal and its people as well.
AND ALSO WANT TO SAY MAYBY ITS BETTER TO MOVE THE HOUSE 🏠 FAR FROM THE RIVER, IT WILL BE MORE SAVE OR IF NOT BUILD A TALL WALL LIKE A OVAL SHAPE IN FRONT OF THE HOUSE TO STOP THE WATTER TO REACH THE HOUSE.
Totally! We're soon moving the tiny house to another location and in a year move permanently to the main house, once finished.
WELCOME TO PORTUGAL. SO BEAUTIFUL YOUR LAND, AND THE RIVER YOU GUYS ARE SO LUCKY , YOU ARE BEEN BLESSED 😇. GOD BLESS YOU FUTURE HOME AND LAND. AND PLEASE MAKE VIDEOS SOONNNNN. SO SO FAR AWAY. HUGS FROM USA 🇺🇸
The inside of the tent looks almost like a yurt. I think its a great option for visitors. Good job!
And it has been used quite a lot this summer! We are very happy to have so many friends visiting.
Hello, I'm also on the search for a tiny house. May I ask you about the company you got it from and, may be, the price? Greetings from Alentejo!

Acho bem fazerem um muro de cimento. Assim previne o rio subir para o vosso terreno.
We thought about it - but apparently the river goes up so much that's not really possible! We recently moved the tiny house to the new and higher spot, river safe now!
I'm From Viana do Castelo (Minho). North close to litoral is expensive.
Our neighbour! And you're very right! The Afifi area is very expensive!
