Stretch elastic waistband onto trousers and stitch

Insert elastic and stitch. This is preparation of the waistband.

Trouser waistband preparation

Checking waistband, folding and pressing- checking elastic length. Marking waistband in quarters with chalk to help with application to top of trouser.

Wide rolled hem

From crutch to ankle, stitch inside leg seam down one side. Repeat on other side.

With right sides together, stitch the side seams from waist to hem. Back tack at start and finish. Neaten and press.

Join c/f and c/b rise, 1cm seam.

Fuse inner edge of pocket opening then attach pocket lining and then pocket bag. Note right and wrong sides of fabric and backtacking, and remember to choose a method to finish off your raw edges eg pink, zigzag, bind, overlock.

Chalk, fold, line up and stitch, running off a chain.

Edge stitch onto waistband edge all around top of skirt, starting and stopping 5cm from each end

Bag out top of zip at waist

Bag out top of zip with zip guard in place

Sink stitch to secure waistband at side seams
