Creepy old gay daddy leather boot fetish? Nasty!
I was interested in your video. I do enjoy your videos and all the detail you give. This one was of greater importance as I planned to tackle all three in one day. After much deliberation I decided to start at Derrydarroch. There is a lay-by right opposite the track leading to the house. The lay-by is probably the next one down from the one you used. The route up was over Stob Glas, this was pathless and hard going but interesting route finding. It brought me out at An Caisteal. Three hours. On to Beinn a Chroin. Yes that crag is something else. I too have a dog but I don’t think he is quite as nimble as yours. I had to lift him up over that big step and one other near the top. When I can i try and do the Tops so ventured out to the east Top before returning to Beinn a Chroin. It was there I decided I wouldn’t try the return trip down the crag. Instead i turned south towards Carn Liath but halfway there there is a bealach and i decided to go down there, really steep but grass, until the gradient eased. Then I traversed slowly loosing height to arrive at the bealach on route to Beinn Chabhair. Yes that was a tough ascent but I also found a bit of a track. I agree the ridge descent was brilliant. I too turned off down at the bealach before the 719 spot. On the plus side when i reached the WHW it was five minutes back to the car. Wow yes this was a great day. My views weren’t as good as yours. Anyway your video was really helpful as I wasn’t sure if Beinn Chabhair could be linked.
@@charlesrobert9527 I think your lay-bye sounded like a better option than the one I chose… it is a particularly spectacular route and one I remember fondly…you prompted me to watch the video again… I’m missing the mountains… thinking about doing the Corbels more and more !!!
Yes I won’t forget that route. Definitely in the top tier. It has plenty to keep you busy. I gather you are a compleator. From those I have talked to re attempting all the Corbetts they are definitely a challenge. I understand you have more navigation and route finding challenges with some of them. I guess if you enjoyed the route finding of this walk then the Corbetts will be really appealing. I have 98 Munro’s to go but, yes, wondering what to do next. About half way through the Munro’s I decided to try and pick up the Tops even when they were some ways off route. So maybe I’ll try and finish them first. I believe some are quite tricky. There is one at the west end of Liathach which I understand is a real challenge. No doubt some on Skye too. Anyway if you do decide to tackle the Corbetts I’ll keep an eye out for more videos. All the best. Chas
God that accent and terrible attempt at Gaelic pronounciation🤢 Dont these people have hills in their own country?
Congratulations on the climb - to go off path and find your way up a steep hillside linking the two routes is so much more difficult. JMO
@@justmyopiniontoday7548 it was a fabulous day. Thanks
Ben Klibreck, pronounced as kleebreck.
@@murdogordon3091 thanks I really struggled with the pronunciations, later on in my Munro challenge , I found the walk highlands web page, which helped no end!! I hope you’re enjoying my journey through the Murnros… it was a fabulous adventure
Excellent job 💯👏👏. How long did take you to get Beinn Ghlas from Meall Corrainoch please? Was it very steep path?
@@mohammadasgaryan6676 Hi, I seem to remember that the distance between the two Munro’s wasn’t too far, and seemed to be relatively short amount of time ( this is relative to your walking speed, but I think under an hour) .. I remember the descent was very steep.. but very manageable no ropes or anything like that required… Enjoy your walk Nick
Great rocky ridge, and views.
Agreed..awesome views with some incredible beeches to visit as well! Definitely worth a visit to the outer Hebrides
Thanks for the videos Nick. Always use your videos before doing a new Munro so I know what I’m in for. Just like how your videos are straight to the point and simple to watch. I do think you should try and do all the Corbetts. Plenty of great walks on offer if you ever get the chance to try a new challenge.
Great video . I just done An Caisteal and Beinn a'Chròin yesterday. Since coming down and in poor visibility considering it was meant to be a good forecast. I never done the first top you went to on Beinn a’Chroin just the 1st top which would have been your last before the scramble and the middle the high point 942m. I have read mixed reviews. Would you agree this was the true summit (Munro) as your video suggests? Thanks for any help
I can understand why there is a mixed opinion… the first top certainly felt higher, but the OS map suggests otherwise… consequently i called it the Munro…to be honest they are so close together it’s worth bagging them both just to be sure… I really enjoyed this day, one I remember with fondness
@@baggingthemunros3354 Thanks for the reply. For the moment I’ll stick with the OS as I missed this top as I assume the one you noted was the true top & that’s the one I’ve got. It’s hard when the weather is poor. I still have a few to get around there so if ever back in the area I’ll try and get that top as the bog up to it is off putting to head back in a hurry 😂
Even the dog is stunned, what a beautiful wee country we live in, go on yersell Bonnie Scotland 👍🏴🏴
It’s absolutely stunning!!
Welcome back sir. There is another excellent route especially as a decent. Follow the path down from the summit behind the south peak and follow the ridge back down to the dam.
Thanks Alistair… I’m already missing Scotland, but I had a fabulous couple of weeks in the outer Hebrides
Hi Nick, wonderful mate. I thought there was a steam train at the top of the first hill, then I realised it was Stan! 🤣🤣 Brilliant walk again, what views! All the best Dave
It was stunning… the outer Hebrides are just breathtaking at times …
Brilliant did this route 8 years ago mostly in mist so nice to see the views finally it’s a nice part of the world cheers
I was so lucky with the weather… absolutely stunning views
Absolutely amazing to meet you again, this time on the Clisham and see the delightful Stan too. (I am now on TH-cam!) What a fantastic day it was for a such a wonderful walk. Just 220 more Corbetts to go.
It was lovely to meet you again… what’s the odds on meeting you again!! Particularly on such remote peaks
Great to see you back in the Scottish hills again Nick with your trusted companion Stan. There are lots of great hills in Scotland that aren’t Munro’s. Enjoy 👍🏻
Agreed… already looking at which ones to tackle next!!
Legend , good to have you back in Scotland Would love to walk a Munro with you one day 😊
I wish I could spend more time in Scotland… it’s amazing, unfortunately this was just a weeks holiday island hoping… can’t wait to get back!!
Another great watch 👍👍👍
Thank you…. Isn’t Scotland amazing
it's good seeing you back up in Scotland Nick with Stan 🙌
It’s always a pleasure
Hi Nick, hi Stan, cracking video, the Cobbler is one fine mountain, as are all of the Arrochar Alps. Great to see you back out in Scotland. All the best Dave
Thanks Dave… just spent a fabulous two weeks in the Outer Hebrides… video to follow shortly
@@baggingthemunros3354Nice one, I’ll certainly look forward to those! 😀
And about bloody time too 😂😂😂 Great to see you back sir and up 1 of Arrochars finest mountains something special and very unique about The Cobbler threading the needle too 👏 I actually prefer the Corbetts in Arrochar Beinn An Lochain up the rest and be thankful is a cracking mountain too enjoy your time mate ⛰️ 🏴👍
Looking forward to doing some more later in the year… I did the Cobbler on route to the Outer Hebrides.. video to come….
Yes. He’s on the corbetts. Was hoping you would say “welcome to my corbetts challenge”
I wish it was the start of a challenge … unfortunately it is only a short break, I went to the outer Hebrides.. another video to follow!!
Please could i ask you from which car park did you start your hiking please?

That was the grid reference
That accent 😵💫 Far too much of that in our Highlands , its not too bad of they go home afterwards but the settlers are a serious problem , some villages and towns are overrun.
Well done Nick & Stan. What you achieved is nothing more than incredible. I’m so gutted that I missed your journey but am am so glad that you recorded it all to assist Munro baggers like myself to complete this epic challenge 👍🏻
Thank you…. It was a memorable year and a fantastic experience!!
@@baggingthemunros3354 I’m only on 70 but now have a good plan from an expert Munro bagger to complete the rest. Looking forward to the next instalment of Nick and Stan 👍🏻
@@delboyg2690 I think a good plan is essential , you’ll soon be up to 200 and then you’ll be counting down !!
@@baggingthemunros3354 thanks and hopefully 🤞🏻 You should write a book of your journey through the planning stage, doing them, standing on top of Ben Lomond and then the feeling afterwards which must have been a mixture of jubilation and sadness that it was all over. Easy book to create, 300 chapters. Chapter 1, intro and plan. Chapters 2 to 283 - one for each Munro and then chapter 283 - a summary of the best bits and thanks. I’d buy it. Plus you could wrap all the videos into a DVD that could go with the book. Another project maybe 🤔😂
Just as well you back down south BOYY keep yer redundancy check fur the English
😂😂
HI Nick, wonderful video, its a walk that's been on my radar for ages, just never seem to get round to it. This has inspired me to pull my bloody finger out. Haha Thanks for sharing your days adventure mate. All the best, Dave.
It’s a fabulous trek, one I’ve done more times than I can remember. You will definitely enjoy it!!
Another fabulous day out on the fells Nick. Great to see you and Stan enjoying yourselves. Thanks for sharing. 😊
Thanks Pauline
Would love to know how these boots faired on your adventure, plus a question did you have two pairs so they could dry out each day? We had a rather odd conversation with a guy in an outdoor shop saying that you can’t wear them everyday, as you have to dry them out, though he wasn’t talking specifically about Altberg’s just good walking. Lots 8n general.
They are still going strong… both pairs are still bone dry (waterproof ).. I’ve walked a huge distance with them as I walk my dogs twice a day as well! Considering have them resoled. Indeed I got two pairs as I rotated each day.. I changed colour of the laces in one pair to identify.. this allowed the boots to dry out naturally, without using any drying rooms. I also used the “Gris” at least once a week.. Can’t recommend them enough… bullet proof!!
Hello. I’m going to Knoydart for the fourth time in 2 weeks, and this time i really want to climb Lhaddar Bheinn. I walk a lot in France but not used to walk without paths, so was unsure about the walk to the top of Lhaddar Bheinn. Your video makes me feel less anxious. The path from the bridge to the summit looks good. Is it? Can’t wait for my walk there. Hope the weather will be good 😅
Knoydart was amazing and one of my favourite places on the Munro circuit.. the route I took was not the one as described in most guide books, but I was under time pressure so decided to go up and down the shortest way… I remember care was needed when leaving the Forrest track, but once you gain your height things became much more obvious… enjoy your walk it’s fabulous there
Legend !! 🎉❤
Thank you
So happy to see this back on my subscribes, love the route map, love the music, very nostaglic 👍👍👍
Thanks… the music definitely sets the tone !!
Love Swaledale - great day out with Stan and Lenny. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Pauline
Hi Nick, Hi Stan, great to see you back out in the hills again. What a cracking walk. Thank you for sharing your day with us. All the best, Dave 🥾⛰😀
Thanks Dave… I’m enjoying walking again … hope to post a couple more in the Yorkshire Dales
Is see you still get the lucky weather following you from the Munros 😂
I hope you’re enjoying the videos… I intend to make a couple more Yorkshire Dales videos, over the next few months
Good to see Stan is running well and you are back in the hills.
I hope to post a few local walks in the Yorkshire Dales, over the next couple of months
Lol I was just browsing your channel wondering if ud ever put up another video and bang.. literally that minute. Nice route tek care 😂
Thanks… loving being on the fell again!!
Great to see yi again. The Corbetts are calling btw 👍👍
It has crossed my mind… maybe next year..
Really excellent video
Thank you
I don't know how you can make a video of that hill and not put in a bit about the river crossing as it's a pretty critical bit of the walk after all. You certainly got a cracking day for it though!
I have Altberg military boots. Best boot ever I've had every manufacturer on the market. Every one has failed on me withing one to two years. Most gortex over priced crap. My boots last months before they fail. Im never going to purchase from anyone else now. Custom made boot in a g fitting as i love bare foot boots. The only downside is it takes 6 months for a custom made boot.
what is a b-lak? beelak? bilack? I have spent the past 20 mins trying to figure out the spelling and can't find any results online or synonyms of col or saddle point. what does it mean and what is the origin of this word?
😂
@@baggingthemunros3354 am I being dumb? 😭would appreciate an actual explanation..
@@squidwardtentacles6581 sorry i misunderstood… it’s a col between two or more peaks…it took me a while to stop calling them cols… similar to lochans instead of tarn and glen instead of valley…burn instead of steam etc etc
@@baggingthemunros3354 oh okay, thanks. so it's essentially the Scottish word for a col. I have never heard of that before!
Thanks for sharing. Did a pair of Altberg Tethera last you 1200 to 1500miles? or your previous boots from another manufacturer?
Thanks for sharing. Did a pair of Altberg Tethera boots last you 1200 to 1500 miles or boots you had previously from other manufacturer?
Yes the boots survived the Munro’s and are still going strong… I am considering getting them resold and this is a service Altberg offer
The ‘ch’ in Arrochar is pronounced as in ‘loch’ or ‘Bach’. I live at the foot of Narnain
I did struggle with my pronunciation, luckily in the later part of my challenge I found the walk highland web page… which helped no end… still difficult for a Yorkshire man…I think you live in an amazing place!!
Thanks for the video. Bin Boo-eee, or Bin Voo ee is the pronunciation, there are translation / pronunciation helps on Walking Highlands.
Thanks … I did find walking highlands webpage… unfortunately it was quite a way into my challenge so many of the videos had poor pronunciation…. Id like to say it got better as the challenge progressed… a fantastic year in Scotland and the Lake District
Happy Christmas 2023. Hope you are keeping well. Best wishes for 2024
Thanks John, that’s very kind…. And a very merry Christmas to yourself
I did those hills in a single day, had a shower when returning to my van at Corrie Hallie and enjoyed three pints in fbi in Ullapool before closing time.
Cycled in from Coirrie Hallie.
This was up there with one my favourite days in the Munro’s… cycling in is a great idea, save carrying loads of gear, I wish I’d thought of it… I think I was at my lowest ebb in the whole challenge, walking back to car, in the dark, very late at night dehydrated and fatigued…. The challenge was catching up with me at this point!!! Fantastic memories
Has anyone pointed out that when you have a name like Loch, and bealach, you personally in your videos always pronounce the ch part as a 'k', as in Lok (or Lock), the ch in Gaelic writing is meant to be like a throaty version of 'H' like when you might say the name Hugh.
I did find pronouncing the Gaelic more challenging, than climbing the Munro’s… I found the Walk highland web page much too late.. which did help somewhat!
I have done the Lost valley many times as a guide from the local youth hostel and have done the route to the munros . my favourite place in the world . boulder migilly in the middle of the lost valley . a special place .Bidean nam bein is a very intimidating mountain great video cheers
Thanks…. It’s definitely up there with my favourite days … although there are quite a few favourites
could you tell me where you get your routes from please.
I used a few different guide books and indeed made some up as I went along… I planned all the routes in lock down onto OS maps… I made a web page with all the routes I did… I did make a few mistakes in hein sight.. I did all the Munro’s in 120 (routes) walking days.. this could have comfortably been two or three days less…. Enjoy you walking
