The guy with the pipe I thought for a minute it was Carl Chinn?!
Used to live down the road from there. Thanks for sharing this.
Our pleasure!
After watching the video I couldn't help notice all of the plush toys, but I didn't see the one that I have...The one and only Calvin the Camel who promoted Cadbury's Picnic. He was yours for nine Picnic Wrappers and postage.
Marvellous!
You should check out London's brand and advertising museum
Yes, that's one place we really want to go to.
My brother used to work for Cadbury and always brought back all kinds of chocolate confections. It’s a wonder I didn’t end up with a mouthful of cavities for all the chocolate I was “testing”.
I got one of those square mugs a good 20-25 years ago. Great bit of memorabilia but horrendous to drink out of! Not somewhere I'd want to go, definitely not vegan friendly, obviously.
Hello Stu🙋♀️ Now you have made me crave for some Chocolate 🍫 What a wonderful exhibition. I am sure I had the same chocolate machine🤔 and I had forgotten the “Wildlife Bars.” I also liked Bournville dark chocolate 🍫 Thanks for the sweet treat down Memory Lane📹
Hello Alison. Hope you satisfied your chocolate craving! 😄
Memories of when you got your money's worth & not overpriced like today , thank you Stu 😊😊
My pleasure!
I went Cadbury World on a coach trip in the late 90s, a really great day out, looks a lot different today with all the interactive exhibits. I remember the chocolate shop where you could buy massive bags of all the Cadbury misshapes 😋 thanks for the video Stu and Lisa.
Hi Julie. Funny you should mention the misshapes. We were going to buy a big bag but ended up forgetting! Came away with plenty of other things though, including lots of freebies!
@@StuviewOnTourOh no 😢 you'll have to get some next time you go again 🙂
My grandparents always had a bag of misshapes in the house. Good memories
I went to Cadbury world many years ago and really enjoyed it there!
Yes, it's a really enjoyable day. Our first time there but we will definitely go again.
Rose Brothers of Gainsborough in Lincolnshire, aka Roses, producing packing machines and packaging including some used by Cadbury's, there's a rumour the chocolates were named after the company but there's no evidence to prove or disprove the rumour. I think it's just an urban myth but any kids who had a parent working there probably came by broken biscuits and chocolates from various companies at some point.
I have gone off Roses since they changed the chocolates!
I would love one of them Cadbury chocolate mugs in the gift shop. Much morre useful than the teapots.
Bit far for a day trip for me, but if I do Rustival again next year (which I plan to, it was so much fun!), then I might stop over and head that way, looks a nice garden walk for my Mum. Thanks for sharing this Stu! If you fancy something a bit further afield, have a think about coming to Lincoln. We've got the castle, which doubled as a jail for a long time, and Lincoln Cathedral, both well worth visiting! We even have not one, but two dragons at the castle! Ooh, fancy! Just a thought. 😊
Thanks for that! Will have to add Lincoln to our list of potential destinations.
Thanks for sharing Sturt and Lisa, glad you enjoyed it, the train looked like fun 👍
Yes, the train ride was great!
Looks like a lovely relaxing place to visit, I do prefer the smaller Christmas markets than the big crowded city centre ones. Thanks for taking us around with you Stu and Lisa.
Hi Julie. Yes, it's a great place to take a relaxing stroll. We were expecting the Christmas market there to be a little bigger than it was but it was still a great day.
Thank you Stu, that looks like a fun day out for all the family 😊😊😊
Thanks as always David. 👍 It's a great place for a nice relaxing day.
Hello Stu🙋♀️ Thank you for showing us around “Weston Park.” The scenery looked so pretty, considering it was a “miniature railway.” It is beginning to look like Christmas 🎄🎅⛄️
Hello Alison. Glad you enjoyed the look around! The miniature railway journey lasts for about 15 minutes so is pretty good value.
I’ve thought chocolate bars have gotten smaller. I feel like a King Size is what regular used to be.
I really enjoyed my visit to the black country museum!
This is just sad. Worlds gone mad
Really? You saying that over candy bars?
@KrokusLaMorue we live in a world where freddos have gotten smaller and now cost 4 pound each. Its time to repent for our sins. I will pray for you
@@Big.Joe.GrizzlyDude candy is not essential. No need to buy them. We are fed into the lie that we want them. Its corporate greed. Nothing more. Stop buying them and they will stop selling us this crap.
I thought Smarties had always come in a cardboard tube. Did they used to be packaged like Fruit Pastels ?
I think it's more a case of it being easier to recreate a roll package than a cardboard tube with a plastic lid.
Historically Wolverhampton was never in the Black Country. It’s only recently been classed as such since the mid twentieth century once Bilston and Wednesfield were swallowed up by Wolverhampton. Great content as usual btw😉
Thanks Steve.
I have been to this museum on three occasions so far and it is really a great place to visit. I was born and bred in Lytham St Annes in Lancashire but now live in Telford. There is a lot of history here also with the famous Ironbridge and its world heritage sites of museums depicting the history of iron foundries in this area. There is the Victorian Town there which is definitely worth visiting when in Ironbridge and is similar to the Black Country Museum with the shops and pub where you pay for goods with actual money from that period. Special events are done in the Victorian Town throughout the year. Other museums in Ironbridge are the steel museum and the tile museum nearby. It's well worth getting the family ticket so that you can visit all the sites which allows you to visit as much as you want throughout the year. Another place to visit is the Severn Valley Railway in Bridgnorth where you can take a steam railway trip from Bridgnorth to Kidderminster. Great nostalgia for steam railway enthusiasts and it's worth visiting the Railway Mans Arms on Bridgnorth Station itself for the ales served there. I really enjoyed this video and thank you both for sharing it.
Many thanks for all the info. Much appreciated! Many years ago I worked at Blists Hill for a short time. Haven't been since then but it is somewhere we will be visiting at some point for the channel.
A CAST IRON HOUSE! Did anybody hear that THE NAVY experimented with making SHIPS out of CONCRETE several times? The idea was that they WOULDN'T RUST! And if you made the material not too thick, it also wouldn't be too heavy.
A concrete ship? Wow, never knew that.
I was astonished to learn the pub is called the ELEPHANT AND CASTLE! Because that's the name of a PLACE on the edge of London! Does anybody have any idea how the pub got that name in the first place?
Not sure why it was named The Elephant and Castle. The statue of the elephant which stands above the door was quite a famous little landmark in Wolverhampton for many years.
Excellent film Stu....I really enjoyed this. Been to and performed at BCM but this is all new to me.....It has changed so much...I've subscribed!
So glad you enjoyed the video Mike and many thanks for subscribing!
Stu, You may want to move your annotations to the left of screen slightly so that they are not covered by your moniker in the bottom right hand corner. 😉
Thanks.
Definitely one of Orlando’s lesser known gems. Great place to visit.
Absolutely. A real hidden treasure.
Some classic motors there Stu, great video thanks 😊😊
My pleasure as always David.
Very well do
Thank you for the trip back in time
Our pleasure!
4D for a fry’s cream, take me back in time lol 😂 loved this mate 👍👍👍
Those were the days! Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks!
Looks a great place. Especially the pub!
Oh yes.
I enjoyed that, you look like you had a great time, Stu and Lisa. I was sickened off seeing how big the chocolate bars were. They're a real rip-off now, aren't they? And the cake shop looked lovely, especially the coffee cake !!
I think Lisa liked the look of the coffee cake too! Amazing how big those chocolate bars were wasn't it? Glad you enjoyed the video Carole. Thanks as always!
Love the Black Country Museum, great memories.😍
Great to see you made it here to Thetford... :) The Guildhall in the town center was featured quite a bit in the show, as was Newtown, and Nether row.. I also believe that Elveden just up the road featured some of the outdoor military exercise scenes. Elveden Hall also was featured in the movie Eyes Wide Shut. :)
Great info. Many thanks!
More please can I suggest bilst Hill Victorian town Shropshire. Are the iron houses not just prefabs?
Blists Hill is on the tour list for sure.
Looks like another good day out along with the dads army one you covered. 👍👍
A great day indeed.
Great vid👍watching from Singapore.
Awesome! Thank you!
Hello Stu🙋♀️ As someone who is from Kidderminster, I know all about the Black Country.” My Grandmother used to buy a newspaper 📰 called Black Country Bugle. The Shops I remember in Kidderminster: “Woolworths” “Littlewoods” “Timothy Whites” and a music 🎶 store called “Sound Around.” I remember the “CO-OP being a huge department store, and “Boots” used to sell Records, and Kitchen Ware...Gosh...happy memories... Thanks for an interesting video 📹
Hello Alison. Those were the days - Boots selling records! I remember buying a few from Boots in Wolverhampton during the 80s.
Those were the days when chocolate was bigger & tastier than now great memories Stu thank you 😊😊
Thanks as always David. If only chocolate bars were that size today!
Not really my cup of tea (probably for the best as veganism clearly hasn't reached there yet!), but one of my best mates is from Dudley so I'll have to remember to ask him if he's been. Probably got dragged to it on a school trip. It was Didcot for me, and the Northampton shoe museum, that was as thrilling as it sounds! What's next on the tour Stu?
We have got a few places on the visit list. May possibly be Cadbury World in Birmingham or even the Jurassic World exhibition in Manchester.
Great Vid! Thankyou for sharing the experience!
Glad you enjoyed it! Many thanks.
Brilliant, thank you xxx
Thanks Sharon!
Hello Stu and Lisa. Absolutely BRILLTASTIC video. This channel and it's sister channel are a definite favorite of mine. When I watch it's like being back in short trousers (which I am) Thanks for your hard work.
Much appreciated as always my friend.
Thank you so much for sharing Stuart. I'd love to visit there sometime with my wife and be transported back to a simpler and imo better way of life 🏭📺👍
My pleasure Michael.
After living 30 years in Smethwick I can remember many trips to the black country museum normally followed by dudley castle and zoo
