The kind of degree matters. All bachelor degrees aren’t equal and aren’t the same. Liberal arts are not in demand. If you don’t know what you want to do after college then just get a business degree where you can at least land a desk job. You have way better chance to get a good paying job if you have a STEM degree.

What if there's more bachelor's degree holders than jobs that require a bachelor's degree? A job is not something that you're entitled too. It's supply and demand, and someone else has to create that job. You need to sell yourself to an employer and make a case for how you can provide value to them. No one owes you a job just because you have a general education. Alternatively, you can create your own job.

You are not worthless and you didn't waste your time in college. I've been there, it'll take a little time. If you have any volunteer work put that on your resume. If not give that a try. Volunteer work gives you experience and helps get your foot in the door. Did your college have a work study program? I did that in college part time and that helped gain some experience. it took me one year to find a job with my degree, as you get older and more experience, more opportunities open up to you, in the meantime I worked as a security guard and kept applying and interviewing, most people don't find their dream job right away - my family judged me for working a low paying job with a college degree but I needed money until someone gave me a chance and usually better paying jobs have longer hiring processes

You didn't do it for nothing, it made you a well spoken and well rounded young woman. Experience can take time but perhaps an internship with a part time job would help get your foot in the door. Ask your college if they have an internship program and any career fairs. Keep your head up and stay blessed.

go to a temp agency.. you can get a job picking in a warehouse in a couple of days.. spend a few months and they will make you permanent. Once you are permanent, your degree will make a difference... You will be one of the few experienced warehouse workers with a degree. After a year, apply for a job as supervisor.... I know there are a lot of options, but that's the easiest way to use your liberal studies degree where I'm at.

I have a degree in English and I planned to use that to teach, which I did and then I went on to law school. Liberal arts is extremely general. You need a specialty or focus and experience through internships or entry level jobs which then leads to a full time job. I worked one or jobs at a time while also being active in clubs on campus and carrying a full load. Plus I was a mom. College and a career = hustle and grind. Oh and I’m never too good for lower level jobs even as an attorney. You might have to work retail or food service until you get a career job.

I hate to say this but it sounds to me like you went to college to get A degree so you can get A job, but tbh with so many people also getting liberal arts degrees (especially if there’s something they’ll not particularly skilled in) you and your fellow graduates have really just become a dime a dozen to these employers now. Even those with masters degrees in business are not doing any better either. I say just remove your degree from your resume, try to figure out WHAT you want to specialize in a try going about it from there. Work in retail, community college, Coursera, trade school, the sky’s the limit!

Trade school > College. I know so many people with degrees of all kinds and they all work entry level jobs, some with no room for advancement. College/University is only good for things relating to careers like Medical, Law and things of that nature.

What makes this market different from the 08 one is that we have a collection of people with various experience levels (entry to senior). Employers want Senior level employees for Entry level pay. There's also that phenomenon of Ghost jobs which the news only recently started talking about.

What’s your degree in????

Right from the get-go, if you don't have experience or less experience than the job posting requires, then why are you applying for jobs that require experience or more experience than you have. You are literally not qualified to do those jobs. This is why the job hunt process is getting so ridiculous. Its millions of people applying to thousand jobs each that they are not qualified to do, and this is why HR's are getting the way they are getting. It is not the employers fault or responsibility that you do not have the minimum required experience for the job they are posting. As for entry level no experience required jobs and why they have vanished, this is because Millennials ruined it for everyone. It used to be that for every 10 hires you'd end up with 1 good employee. Millennials completely demolished that. It's now more like for every 250 hires you'll end up with 1 good employee, and good luck trying to keep them more than a year. It just makes no sense to hire entry level no experience workers anymore when the chances of landing someone good that will actually stay and fully commit to that job and eventually do it well is so low now. The Millennial mantra has always been, still is, and will continue to be fake-it-till-you-make-it, and employers are over it.

Unless your a engineer, doctor, lawyer , in politics or electrical. Theirs no need to have a degree. Education is a scam for most people, the experience on the app is to get people to work internships for free. Its also so you accumulate debt so you have no choice but to take crappy pay and stay in the workplace. If they can keep you in debt they own you for life. Just like the people who go to med school and fail out . Their so far in debt they'll never recover.

As a kid they sell us a big fat dream by going to college it will make you bug bucks. Yet they never really said it was going to be for certain. Making us chose to follow that path at a young age yet its never the case because they showed "approximately" how much each dregree or master or phd pays compared to just high school diploma or without. It was all lies, but dont get me wrong Doctors earn well and traits schools are best but not for everyone. Its all about skills, connections and knowledge!

Your best bet is either lawyer or something in the medical field. Not to say any other field isn’t worth it , but you have a lot higher chance of finding something. My half brother has an engineering degree and he’s still looking for a job . They make good money when you find that job but it can be a hit or miss with other degrees .
