    I was 17 that year and for all the people who think of the 90's as great times I hate to tell you but the 90's is what ushered in a lot of bad stuff in America, the last true great decade was the 80's, by the 90's things were starting to suck...just being honest

    I'm in my mid 20's. I grew up in a small town, a little behind in the times and a lot of people were stuck in 70's and 80's culture. So outside of some things still being somewhat relevant, I've learned, seen and heard about all the late and great of the 80's. It was a cool time to be alive. At times I wish I was raising my family over 30 years in the past... Life is amazing now, yet so sad and desperate. Technology has exceeded our capacity as a society. We are on the edge. It's the life I was given though. I am blessed to have the knowledge and appreciation of what came before me.

    I had this too. The problem was the car kept getting stuck in the curves. It seems like it did not have the power to make it all the way through. In the commerical it worked great but not so much in real life. I remember my dad being really pissed off about it and wanting to return it. He called it a piece of junk.

      They filmed at 6 frames per second then showed it at 24 frames per second,a common practice back then.This ad was on a local kid show almost every day when I was about 10,at that age I was not interested in it.

    Unbelievable to think that this was playing in our living room 39 years ago when I was a 14 years old kid. If someone would have told me that I'd be 53 years old and watching this on my phone/computer using something called TH-cam I wouldn't have been able to process the thought. But here we are and for all the so called innovations since then I wish it was 1983 again. A much simpler, safer, and quiet world back then.

    It's not how or even when you die that matters, it's what you do when you're here on earth that counts. He was a thing of beauty on skis, with an in your face, devil may care attitude, when America and the Olympics were great. No one ever looked better in the air. I love Billy the kid.

    When skiing slalom was like a great fight and required true athleticism. Today's racing is so robotic and unexciting by comparison.

    • @monkmchorning
      @monkmchorning 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The courses looked harder, and those old skis seemed to need a lot more up-and-down motion to keep the edges on the snow. And you could really wail off the tails of those K2s.

    • @shooter7a
      @shooter7a 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My perspective as someone who grew up skiing and racing in the 80s and early 90s, today's skis require way more athleticism because the loads the skis can hold is so much higher.

    • @monkmchorning
      @monkmchorning 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shooter7a it appears the deeper sidecuts and higher edge angles are throwing back a lot more G's.

    • @shooter7a
      @shooter7a 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is more than that. The side cut is designed in conjunction with the flex of the ski so that when loaded up, it creates a consistent long circular arc. This is the secret sauce, and it was first figured out by the Engineers at Elan.

    • @trulsgudvarpaulsen2379
      @trulsgudvarpaulsen2379 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry to say, but you are wrong. Try watching Henrik Kristoffersen or the best skier in recent times, Marcel Hirscher, and you will se for yourself that it is far from robotic. You need to be superfast and strong to master the new skiis. Anyhow Ingmar Stenmark was in a class of his own, and admired by his fellow rivals back in time and it was much smoother to watch.
