My only advice is not to come to Canada or USA for a PhD. We have students in universities called prestigious eg. UBC in Canada, spending 8-9 years to complete a PhD. I haven't seen one student completing their PhDs in 4yrs. Even when a student needs to finish in 4yrs, it's like a magic for other studets and PIs. But all their websites say its a 4yr degree + fully funded. Students have to teach in undergrad labs/courses in order to earn money. Only around 250-300$ comes from the supervisor biweekly in a city where the rent for a one bedroom apartment is >1500$. Advisors don't even bother to encourage students to complete within 4 yrs. They take advantage of students and ask students to review their papers, do side experiments for other groups, act as lab managers, run projects for MSc students, help thier undergrad teaching courses etc. They don't understand these take so much time of a student and it takes yrs to complete their own exps. There're some students that don't have at least one paper got published during their 6-8yrs of PhD. For MSc students none of the papers even after getting graduated. Just think who'll have time to write papers after getting graduated?? Why the PI couldn't get students papers published while they were still in the labs?? It's okay at least if they pay you for your time. If you're not sure, just do a survey on Canadian grad students. I don't know why funding agencies fund such stupid projects that don't have any output. There was one student who completed an MSc and made some plant lines during her studies, but later on another student found those plant lines are wrong, she had done the whole experiments in a wrong way. But still she got a degree. So stupid and waste of money for almost 3yrs. There're lots of stories of such kind of failed experiments in lab dur to poor guidance of advisors. This is how some PIs guide their students😂. They just show off they're bright PIs. But only the lab people know how they work. So do a good literature survey before selecting your advisor. Best option is to apply for a European, Australian etc. universities where you can complete a PhD in 3 (max 4) years. Some PIs don't understand students have a family life. They think lab is their home, some students work till mid night, even on holidays. But no appreciation for thier hard work and just underpaid. If you could apply for a job with your masters, you could have at least save some money and your mental and physical health and your relationships than wasting your valuable yrs and money and getting piles of bebts in the end

Already 11 months 😭 so bittersweet!

it's been a while since I last posted a video. We have been soaking in all the fun fall activities with baby girl. Babygirl is 11 months now and a huge recent milestone was her FIRST FLIGHT ✈ from LA to San Antonio TX😇 I was very nervous leading up to the day, but she did so good!! we are so proud of her!🤍

I am a PhD CS in AI student in USA as well and am just leaving it right now. I did a job in MNCs before, I like the environment, work-life balance, and after 1.5 years, I feel that an academic career is not for me. I can’t work alone in lab 24x7.

sweet potatoes 🍠 have been a go to because they are SUPER nutritious AND very easy to make. Plus babygirl (our 9 month old) LOVES them 🥰 you actually do not need to season sweet potatoes at all, and they will still be yummy 😋 but here is what I did - wash well - pat dry - poke holes (place the sweet potato on countertop when doing so, not in your hand like i did. I’m often times chaotic and living dangerously in the kitchen 😅) - massage olive oil onto sweet potatoes (optional) - sprinkle sea salt and black pepper (optional, but i like to eat the skin😅) - bake at 425 F for ~55 min (i did 45 minutes because I had to move on to next task BUT when i leave close to an hour is when it comes out softer) - cut open & enjoy ☺️ (i like to add butter 🧈 and more salt) For our baby, we only give her the inside (no skin) since we try to not give her too much salt. She enjoys it sooo much!

a couple of summer days ☀babygirl started swim lessons and it has been sooooo cute to watch her enjoy the water. She loves pools and she LOVES the beach. my little mermaid 🧜‍♀💓she is 8 months in these clips, although now she is 9 months. time sure is flying!!
