It's strange that they have so many precise profile settings, and no possibility to change NR. In Lumix it's the opposite, and I like their approach better.

I’m still getting used to the S5II, but so far, it feels like it works well with people in video mode, while with everything else-like animals, vehicles, etc.-it performs poorly compared to the latest Sony cameras.

@@GEXAR but.... Image stabilisation is amazing. I dont know why Lumix advertising so heavy with Autofocus when they have the best IBIS on the market imo

From a technical point of view, no.

I shoot mostly weddings and I never have to use denosier on my S5II even on 12800 and 16000 ISO. With proper exposure image always come clean, with very little noise.

Up to 12800 ISO, both cameras perform very well, with the Lumix S5II sometimes even leading in V-Log, for example. Beyond that, however, Sony gains the advantage. In practice, I think few people shoot at such high ISO values. In the past 3 years, I've only had to work in the 10000-20000 ISO range 3-4 times (for concert and wedding shoots). So, I think this camera is quite specific and will be suited for those who shoot documentary-style videos where you can't control the environment. Therefore, it might make more sense for you to look at the A7SIII. However, even better, wait until the end of the year. Rumors say that the Lumix S1H II will be released by then with 3 native ISOs and a setup that’s even better than the FX3, and it will be priced similarly to the A7SIII. So it might be worth holding off on your purchase.

TH-cam compresses videos quite a lot, and at higher ISOs above 12800, Sony definitely has the advantage.

It’s possible, as I tried to use manual focus on both cameras and focus on the same subject, but it didn’t turn out exactly the same.

Yeah, I like how Lumix keeps things simple with their profiles. There's just one log profile, no complicated settings. It’s easy-if you need dynamic range, you choose that, and if you want a ready-to-use image, you pick any other profile.

I think the reason is that it has a unique bokeh, unlike other lenses. And it's sharp only in the center. At first, I didn’t know that and wondered why my photos and videos were out of focus, even though I thought they were in focus... turns out, it was the lens. Yeah, in general, all vintage lenses have their own unique look, bokeh, and characteristics. Modern lenses are just too perfect and sharp, which makes them all look the same.

@@GEXAR I was going down the rabbit hole with vintage lenses the last few days and it seems like there is a huge variety from the really focused center/blurrier edges and interesting bokeh to ones that still have character but maybe aren’t SO stylized like the Helios I have. Pretty cool. I’m think of maybe trying a canon fd.

I live in a fairly cold country, and I usually don’t shoot continuously. So, I haven't encountered this issue.

In all the time I've owned a Lumix, I've never had even a hint of overheating. I think they added the fan to the S5II only because of the 6K recording. Panasonic’s pricing strategy is currently one of the best on the market.

Thank you so much for such a detailed comment. Yes, I absolutely agree. The Lumix S5 is my favorite camera, and it's stayed with me longer than any other. I really love the colors, and its low-light performance has always been sufficient for me. I recently upgraded to the Lumix S5II because I needed better autofocus since I often work alone. But honestly, I’m a bit disappointed. Besides the autofocus and some minor improvements, I feel like the image quality and colors have actually gotten worse. Lumix employees mentioned they had to make sacrifices in quality to implement the new AF system. Now, I’m not sure if I’ll get used to the Lumix S5II or if I’ll end up going back to the older version. P.S. I recently bought a lens from Australia and was surprised it arrived without a spider 😁

Thanks! Honestly, the native ISO on the Sony really surprised me. A camera with such high light sensitivity is great, but I don't think anyone actually shoots at such high ISO levels.

Yes, the difference is significant, especially at high ISOs. Sony is the leader here. Honestly, I preferred the colors on the S5 much more, although V-Log remains the same, which is a relief.

Nothing except Nikon's colors, which are universally praised by anyone who's ever touched or saw a Nikon file.

I've used both a lot at night in Lapland using ISO51200 and I like Lumix S5ii and S1 more. 6k opengate vs tiny difference between them in low light performance have turned my head to Lumix. Also much better manual focus options. I've got too many unsharp footages with Sony.

Yes, considering the price, I don't see any competitors in this segment.

I haven't used it much, so I can't say for sure. But I've noticed that it performs significantly better at 50FPS+.

Это ты про что? У S5 7 кадров в сек, у S5II 30 кадров в сек. У S5 в видео АФ отстой, в фото более менее но далеко не супер. У меня проблем с колесом ни разу не было, что само крутится.

Мне больше нравится v-log, может быть, потому, что я к нему больше привык.

Hi, thank you. I don't have the Lumix G100 in my current plans. In this video, I only used the kit lens 14-42. The lens I recommend purchasing first is the Lumix 12-35mm f/2.8. For a more affordable option, you can start with the Lumix 25mm f/1.7.

Hi, when the camera is off, you can hear and feel the matrix stabilization when you turn the camera, this is normal. If you turn on the camera, the matrix system also turns on and the problem should disappear.

I haven't tried this particular camera, but the camera can get a little hot, especially when working for a long time and even more if you use a dummy battery.

Ideally, you should use an ND filter, but in reality, not many people do this.

I think at normal prices they are bought up so quickly that you don’t even notice.

Is the DCC40 some kind of filter? Yes, it's a great camera. I think it all depends on the photographer's style; if they do a lot of work in Photoshop, they can change anything they want there, and colors are not as important for them.

V-log is only bad for low light. As for the dynamic range, as far as I know, the range is better in log profiles than in regular profiles. For example, try setting the zebra on your camera to 100 percent in a regular profile and see when you start losing information. Then switch to V-log, and you will see that the zebra disappears because the dynamic range is greater.

@@GEXAR no. The curve of v log is more near the uman eyes. Other profile is more contrast (the zebra tell this). The sensor dynamic range is the same. Another problem with v log is V gamut; is large more of the rec709. If you haven't a monitor with adobe rgb 1998 or more you don't see the real color..

These profiles are designed to produce an image that is ready to use without further color grading. Log profiles (such as S-Log, C-Log, V-Log) are designed to capture the maximum dynamic range of the camera. They record more information in the shadows and highlights, allowing for more flexibility in post-processing. *Colors and Contrast:* Standard profiles have higher contrast and color saturation, making the image more "ready" for use straight out of the camera. Log profiles have very low contrast and appear "flat." This preserves more information, which can be utilized during color grading.
