any updates? Thats a great soundtrack btw
Awesome video, im about to make a start on building my Ackies next vivarium and this has given me lots of ideas for it. I may have missed the obvious here but what source of uvb are you using? Do the LED lights give out uvb?
The led’s are just for visible light. UVB comes from a Reptisun T5ho fixture.
next time bro, lay it down and just pond foam the back, way easier and it cures faster than silicone
Pond foam on the back is alright for a quick and simple setup but isn’t good for a well thought out layout. It just doesn’t give you enough time to work on the design
@@ormsonaquariumdesign3587 I have a lot of texture with wood laid out before I’d do it on smaller tanks like 30s so at the end all the black pretty much covered up lol. Also I see a saint peter cross ha
What salinity do you keep it at if it’s brackish water? 1.012
I wanna say it was around 1.008 or so but it’s been almost 10 years since I had this tank so I can’t remember
pls scotts organic topsoil is so bad look at the reviews DONT USE IT FOR A TERRARIUM
I’ve never heard of anyone ever having issues with a basic organic topsoil without any chemical additives? And from a quick google search I couldn’t find anything that says Scott’s is bad. Could you give a source or a link about what’s wrong with Scott’s?
I never had Siamese algae eaters but I did have Chinese algae eaters and had people asking me if my tank just got cleaned when my tank hadn’t been cleaned in three years💯
You should do an update or room tour on all of your aquariums and vivariums
my kinda guy has an rx8 and likes fish
Komodo dragon in small package
The spiciest little dragon
ctenopoma is one of my dream fish. Do you stillhave them?
Not anymore unfortunately, I ended up selling them to do something else
How did it all turn out? 😅
Magnificent
creative thinking and work brotha
I so love seeing a setup made for their needs. My only thought is a longer tank for better enrichment and exercise. I am a geeky Old reptile keeper 😊. My 5 took to the 36 x 18 x 24's. Just a thought. And when really comfortable, they are out more and more interested in us.😊
This was just a temporary enclosure for him when he was small. Working on a bigger enclosure for him right now actually.
did you ever have issues with the great stuff peeling?
I did not, it’ll typically hold a good bit of weight and still stick to the glass. In very larger enclosure with much heavier materials attached to the background, you should usually add some kind of support to make sure the foam doesn’t fall off the glass
@@ormsonaquariumdesign3587 I had some issues though I did a 3 sided background. It needs some kind of structure to stick, and mine didnt have that. For anyone doing a 3 sided background with this method- 1. Put some egg crate or other material for the foam to stick to, it'll ensure longevity 2. Get different colored silicone/foam, it'll be easier to see where you applied it and you'll be less likely to miss spots Such a fun project.
Congratulations on the new house! In case of a power outage, consider a generator for your plants and animals.
Already got one, it definitely comes in handy
does your land lord know you’re doin this? 🤔
Well considering we own the place, I don’t know who I’d need to inform🤔
Old sink false bottom
Protip, you can use silicon 2. 100% and they have black.
I’ve heard mixed things about using Silicone 2. Some people say it’s not safe for vivariums. I believe ASI also sells a black silicone that is animal safe
I wouldn't use it for fish or aquatic animals. But I know a lot of people that have used it for frogs and lizards with now issues, including myself.
That’s what I’ve heard, a lot of people say “I haven’t had any issues” but there isn’t much info out there about whether or not there are actual impacts from using the product. Generally speaking I believe it’s safe after curing but I’d love to find out once and for all if there are any negative affects from from the mold inhibitors and such
@@ormsonaquariumdesign3587 exactly. Better safe than sorry, imagine coming to find your lizard sick or dead because you wanted to cheap out on silicone 2 instead of just going with silicone 1. Can never trust people in the internet either
They need vertical height 😭
Bigger is always better, but 24” is plenty of vertical height for sub adults! They’re not a very picky species
Looks good 👍🏻
Thank you 🙏🏼
Nice tanks brother
Yikes. 54 is a loooow number for tropical fish. Good luck, brother.
Very cold indeed, I’m amazed at the way some of these fish didn’t even seem bothered by it
well, i suppose even in the tropics there are radical temperature events...@@ormsonaquariumdesign3587
Congrats on the house. I just found your channel and I’m curious, what state are you in? Good luck and greetings from Colorado.
We’re in the upstate of South Carolina
Its nice seeing someone go through the actual process of making one out of a wooden cabinet! My mom is giving me her old wood curio cabinet, and every time i look up what all i need to do to prep it, its always metal ikea ones. So thank you for showing your process!
Glad to see aquarium content again!
Cheers from my fish room in Chicago! I look forward to seeing these 2.0's take shape. I'm sure you do, too ;)
wow, your back nice seeing you boss, good asset to have all the best... bless up from Jamaica
WHOOOOHOOOO !! Congratulations!!! This is such a cool step for yall:^) I hope this brings good change and that this home is everything yall need it to be
Congo tetras are bigger and would fit the African theme
Love Congo tetras but they eat plants
For me too busy
Can anyone point me to the video where Serpa uses the airline valve as a drain @10:23? Looking for a more in depth video on what it actually is Thank you so much for sharing this build, it inspired me and many of your videos have gave me confidence to follow through with my own.
That's fuckin dope! I've been looking for a curio cabinet to try to pull off some shit like this (mine prolly wont turn out as well...... by prolly I mean it wont).
Lol, just copy mine exactly and it’ll be equally as good
Always daydreamed about this. Thanks for doing it. I will try doing one.
where did you get the wood and the filter foam?
Local fish store
Cheers from my fish room in Chicago! I just found your channel and subscribed. I look forward to seeing this tank evolve. I used the very same type of wood in my 32 gal long, though I don't think it's actually Manzanita. Anyway, please check out my fish room and let's grow our channels together!
This is so cool! looks like a lot of fun figuring it all out can't wait to see the updates gg
Thank you so much! It was a lot of fun, I’ll try to start posting more vids of the greenhouse so I can get some more updates out soon lol
Thats a drream-pond right there. Archerfish would look really cool in this!
Thank you! And I was thinking about archers but I’m kind of worried they’d jump
Loving the look of the 75...thanks for this share big boss
Would be cool if you added a bit of leaf litter. I'd prefer the apistos with some tiny dither fish and corys at the bottom. Love your plant and greenhouse videos, but the aquariums you do are my favourite!
Whatcha growing in the tent there bud?
Anthuriums lol
I really like how you set this enclosure up, are the dimensions 4x2x2?
Yep, 4x2x2. Thank you
Do you think you'll be keeping any aquariums in your house again?
Absolutely, right now we live in a duplex that’s a refinished basement and it’s had mold problems in the past so I’m unable to do much with aquariums. But when we move this winter I’ll definitely get back to aquascaping. I miss it
Nice job my friend
I used the Yakisugi technique for cedar planks for my platycerium. After burning i always rinsed and used a softer plastic brush. A felt like a wire brush was too abrasive and just removed all that dark colour.
Exactly why I didn’t wanna use a wire brush. I like the black coloration. I’d like to experiment with trying to produce the alligator skin texture but it’s gonna take some practice
Needs more carnivore's
I couldn’t agree more
I actually have 2 carnivores in there which is more carnivores than you have in your personal greenhouse
why are there siamese(ASIAN) algae eaters in an african biotope?
Because as I've stated many times, it's not a true biotope, its biotope inspired.
@@ormsonaquariumdesign3587 In other words, BULLSHIT.
What pump are yoi using
Exciting project, can't wait to see more progress. Do you live in a climate that would allow tropical plants and animals to live in there year round?
I live in zone 8a so I should be good year round
Watching this video 4 months after upload. Curious to know how the plants have held up, as I have been wanting to turn my ackoe enclosure bioactive also
They’re all pretty much toast. I need to try again with a different species
@Ormson Aquarium Design Sorry they didn't work out. Thanks for the update though. Good luck
I've never seen this done, but it just occurred to me that a tumbleweed would look awesome in an enclosure like this, if they can be found or ever grow in an appropriate size.
There's all kinds of spineless cacti and euphorbia that would thrive in there too. I'd really love to see what you might do, plant wise, with this thing
@@LukeMcGuireoidesno cacti in Australia bush though.. native any rate m8
There are a handful of really cool spineless succulents I may try to add to the next enclosure but yeah, no cacti
