How’s the dog doing?

I have a very smart poodle grandpuppy who is a retired emotional support dog and sometimes she does what the other person said about turning things into a game. I'm going to try a clicker, because I didn't use one before to train her. At 11yrs she is very good at preempting everything and interpreting body language down to micro expressions. She is a good obedient girl who is so eager to please she jumps the gun so I'm hoping a new element will slow her down and help her to think instead of making a guess in her eagerness. Actually she's right 98% of the time. The 2% missing is when I try to teach her this.

My dog possesive and has a way higher toy drive than food drive, I tried this method and it didn’t work

Clearly this dog is already thoroughly trained and is only being used for demonstration. A dog that has never done this before may take several days (2-3 15-minute sessions per day) to master this. You may also have to hold the object against her mouth to encourage her to put her teeth on it then reward her. Eventually she'll learn to do it herself.

For those who are confused, a clicker isn't neccesary here. If your dog knows a verbal command like "yes" or "good dog" they will know that they did something good, even a simple pet is good if your dog knows it's a praise

Tysm!! I’ve been trying to get my SDIT to pick up stuff (she would pick up toys and hand them to me and hold other stuff but wouldn’t pick them up off the ground) this helped so incredibly much and she’s doing incredible now!!

My Pitt is having trouble learning this way, I drop the toy but she always nibles her teeth on it, she never picks it up

My dog was more interested in the treats than the toy lol. When I went to put the treats away she finally touched her nose to the toy and went to steal a treat. So im guessing she understands, she just didn't want to put the work in lol.

I try with Zuma but like Chevy I feel like taking her by her harness and then letting her go for her to do it alone.
