    It’s the fact it deals with MRSA for this MRSA patient, I use the paste and calcium alginate dressings, the hydrogel dressings are a bit too expensive for me at $75/a 2x2”but totally worth it if you can afford them 😢❤️‍🩹🥰🙏🏽 I’ve been at w4r with MRSA since 2019 from a spot on my chin, the last time I dealt with MRSA was May 25, 2023 when it almost killed me with MRSA-pneumonia, I was immunocompromised from the rheumatoid arthritis meds I was on called Xeljanz, (zell-jans) 11mg tablet and now I’m terrified to death of immunosuppressants, but at the same time my RA hasn’t been the same either, it’s almost like it’s in remission or something insane like that, I still have to deal with post sepsis syndrome, I spent 3 weeks in ICU and 2 more weeks in step down rooms, I thought the hardest part was in the hospital 😢it’s not, it’s learning to live with my new weaker self and it’s driving me crazy because I got stuff to do and I can’t do it, I’ve tried building my stamina back up and all I get is shaky, sweaty and heart palpitations and vomiting 🤮 and the only thing that helps is lying down for a few hours and then I’m ok. They think my DNA has been damaged by the illness it was that bad. I was on vancomycin for 9 weeks and finally declared clear 3 months later. MRSA is no joke and I’m grateful to the literal teams of doctors and nurses who helped me survive 😢❤️‍🩹❤️🙏🏽

    I had an unknown enlarged prostate, went into the ER because I could not urinate, was surprised with a catheter (very painful), left the hospital physically and mentally traumatized, and felt my life was over as a healthy, active man. I could not sit and had many problems. This channel helped me immensely with dealing with a urine bag; yet, it kept getting clogged and I spent months suffering. I had been offered self-catheterization the first week by my urologist's nurse, but after receiving my catheter and screeching in pain as it went in, my reaction was, "No f'n way am I going to be pushing one it and out several times a day." BIG MISTAKE. After suffering for months waiting for my AQUABLATION treatment--the best--I gave up/in and asked the nurse to show me how to self-catheterize. She showed me, and it was so simple, painless and easy that I got dressed and hugged her. I got my life back. I have been awaiting surgery for months, will be getting AQUABLATION SURGERY in a couple of weeks and every time I hear about people using a catheter and urine bag, I remember the nightmare and, if I can, I tell them to switch to self-catheterization. It literally gave me my life back. 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes at night before bed and I am completely regular all other times. No urine bag or catheter in me all day. This channel helped me when I THOUGHT I was stuck with a urine bag. What no one said is, self-catheterizing is easy, safe and will give you your life back. It did for me. I was grateful to this channel, when I thought I was stuck with a urine bag. Talk about depression. Some people for some unknown reason may not be able to self-catheterize, but for those that can, it is foolish (in my opinion) to keep on suffering physical and emotionally. I cannot be grateful that no one ever said to self-catheterize and how easy it was.

    Are hydrocolloid dressing good for an I&D of an abscess wound 48 hours after the I&D? The wound is no longer to be packed. The patient is on antibiotics and is diabetic. The ER discharge paper just says to change the dressing, it does not recommend a type of dressing.

But I take the cover off of the cyst it's not really a tight bandage it's just a loose cover so I cam do the compresses

    If necrotic tissue turns black, can it be referred to as eschar?

    • @NurseAlyssa39
      @NurseAlyssa39 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Eschar is a type of necrotic tissue that forms a dry, black, hard covering over a wound. It can be a natural defense mechanism that helps prevent infection. Although if unstable may need to be removed.

    Can we still put povidone iodine and ointment before applying the dressing? My cat never seems to heal. We’ve already undergone surgical debridement but the wound just went back to the ways it was. This is our only option as of the moment as per our consultation with our vet.

    • @NurseAlyssa39
      @NurseAlyssa39 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      This is normal as they sometimes can not close the opening the cyst was removed from. Packing is best practice as we need the tissue to grow upward towards the surface.

    How much faster will a Wound Vac machine speed up healing? I was changing the dressing etc. which was a pain and now they gave me a portable wound back machine for an abdominal wound from surgery. Any ideas?

    • @NurseAlyssa39
      @NurseAlyssa39 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @aubrey1008 in my experience it normally speeds the healing process significantly quicker as long as it is tolerated and used correctly.

      @aubrey1008 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@NurseAlyssa39 It seems to be working fine but I have to keep charging it. I see my doctor today and hopefully it will show a lot of progress. I am hoping this will be fully healed in two to three weeks. I hope you don't think I am overly optimistic since I need to get back to work etc.

    • @NurseAlyssa39
      @NurseAlyssa39 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @aubrey1008 it depends on the wound I have seen wounds close within 2 vac dressing changes but once again depends on size

    • @aubrey1008
      @aubrey1008 29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      In just 4 days, the wound vac closed the wound 70%. This is amazing for a huge deep abdominal surgical wound. Maybe it will be all done in a week. Changing the dressing etc. should not be an option in modern medicine.

    Vitamin B1 is needed for collagen production and wound healing. Diabetics for whatever reason, are deficient in B1 and it's why they have a hard time healing. My T2 diabetic Mother had a wound on her toe that wouldn't heal for 4 months. I started giving her B1 and in a week it's almost totally healed.
