Boat Cleaning with a Battery Powered Portable Pressure Washer - Does it work?
มุมมอง 1.2K2 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I take a look at a portable jet wash and whether it is good enough to clean a boat. This is not sponsored or anything so is my honest review. If you are thinking of getting one, I'd suggest paying a bit more and getting as high a pressure as possible. This was about £85 on Amazon but reduced to £71. This one is ... Birchwood 22 Project Boat, the nice weather is here!
มุมมอง 1.5K2 ปีที่แล้ว
A brief view on a nice day of the progress do far on my project boat, check out my other videos for the full project updates and progress.
I was always told that it should drip about once per second. That's how it was for me years ago. That's why you have a bilge pump.
Cracking little boats......there were plans to revive the model, with the new owner of the name, with a Jaguar 215, which I was fortunate enough to try the pre production model.
Greetings from Croatia 🙂🍻👍I like this boat. Can you tell me if it is intended only for rivers or can it be sailed on the sea as well? It seems quite comfortable for a family of four? 🙂
I want one and I’m thankful for your full tour. Well done
Where did you get the lining from?
@shannonlassen9299 Hi, got it from ebay UK.
Had a 2000 model 26x purchased new for nearly 20 years. Couple of comments. When the mast is stowed the spreaders go under the upper deck lifelines. Leaning them on top of the lifelines bends the spreaders and stretches the lifelines as your boat shows. Although must admit the lifelines are so short as to be pretty much useless anyway. Some folks remove the spreaders each time they step the mast but it's not necessary; you can maneuver them under first one side, then the other. There are lots of videos on mast stepping that show you how. The drainage hole in the floor pan by the ladder is a factory provision. I added two more in the corners so it would drain when the boat is heeled. You were fortunate to find one in pretty much factory condition. Most of these are heavily modified. Mine certainly was.
I Love it. Best regards from lisbon. I will try to do it the same in my Macgregor
What car is it that was able to pull this boat with the trailer?
It is not very heavy so most families cars but you'll have to factor in where you are launching from, for example if it is a steep wet slimey ramp you might want a 4x4, if it is not a steep ramp you might still want a taller vehicle as you'll probably have to get more of the vehicle in the water.
This has to be one of the best, most detailed interior tours of one of these boats that I’ve seen. Great job.
Your mast light is very wrong it a spot but not a mast .. Great work
Hi, what paint are you using?
I used garage floor paint inside but bilge paint or topside will do if you have more to spend.
Hi can I ask where you got the white rub rail from please.jay
Hi. I got it from Seals Direct, you need the main peice and also the insert sold separately.
I'm considering buying a Macgregor 26X and your tour was so detailed & informative, it answered a lot of questions for me, so thank you very much, it "is" appreciated.
What kind of paint do i use thanks
I used garage floor paint but bilge paint or topside paint fine.
@@finnkay thanks finn very much obliged for the response
Never realised that the light screw needed 2 complete different tools and as for the bolts in the roof could have been trimmed down and as I live on the exact same model the bolts showing like that will do your head in
How much dose something like this cost
Depends on the condition, could be 1k could be 3k or a bit more.
Do ypu have a website I can't find you online?
I got a new one in 2002 with a 50 hp Yamaha. Sold it a year later. Worst sailboat I've ever owned! Great for boat camping but thats all.
The old ford watermota sea wolf, my parents had one in a 70s waterland 700 cruiser. Long time since I have seen one.
I owned a M 26X for several years and absolutely loved it. The best boat I’ve ever owned. A couple of mods that I really liked were installing a composting toilet (no smell and easy to dump and set up and a water bladder under the V berth with on demand electric pump for galley and head sinks. A creature comfort mod consisting of integrated Bimini, dodger and cockpit enclosure. I loved the layout down below and made many overnight coastal cruises. Unfortunately I’m now 80 years old with health problems that ended my sailings but I wish for you many wonderful days and nights on your boat.
Would lining the inside with a carpet type covering make it warmer and act as sound deadening ?
I've just carpet before it's been fine but more recently I've used camper lining.
@@finnkay I’ve seen some carpeted up the walls and ceiling . I looks nice but wondering if it would get damp
How much Is it it is my dream t get a boat
Hi, this one was a few thousand but you can start with a smaller for less than a grand.
well done
looks great
great video ive subbed
It's great to see a classic grp boat being restored. It looks like it's going to make a really nice boat when you have finished. Thanks for the videos.
Looks great. I know it's a pain but they look so much better being done correctly
I used to fit those same window seals to bus windows and i even fitted my old car window back in the early 90s. I was taught to always fit the rubber to the window first and then fit a peace of washing clothes line down one side and half way along the top and with the other end of the rope do the exact same on the other side of the window so that the two parts of the rope meet up in the middle at the top. Get someone to fit the window in at the bottom and then push down gently on the Glass and also press the front of window keeping a bit of pressure on it. Then from the inside start pulling the tail end of the rope at the bottom corner and the rubber will fold out over the fiberglass. Keep pulling on the rope up and around the corner. Do the same with the other side and your window should be done in around 10 or 15 minutes. I hope this helps. Oh and no fairy liquid or other lubes were used.
remove the silencer NOW, its not a fully sealed silencer and exhaust gasses will leak inside.
Excellent video. In the process of buying basically this exact boat (viewing in a few days) and am pleased to say I like everything about it. The one I'm getting has all the extra storage mods you mentioned people do, and larger bench tops with a fold down tap. I'll definitely be replacing the glorified bucket with a proper marine toilet.
Would love one of these , but wonder how she handles on river Nene. I would have ours on Gt Ouse, but not sure if its stable at low speeds. we had a motor boat in 2012, that wallowed due to really being a sea going boat. Not so keen on sailing, but more gentle cruising, while on rivers, but also will sail on Broadfs too.
The 26x handled very well on the river, no problems at all even at low speeds or coasting.
What is the top speed of the outboard with wide-open throttle?
Стекла вставляются при помощи шнура
Hi can you tell me how much rubber seal you had to get for all the windows please
@@finnkay 100 what feet metres
I can't remember now, 12m rings a bell, it was about £100, you'll have to measure round the windows and add a bit.
Great video! Thanks
Looks like a long shaft when you need a short shaft
can you drill through the solar panels or does it have to be through the silver part only? ive found the bigger system i need but the lines are thin not like yours with the thick joints or can you think of a glue i can use to glue them to the bracket you have used as i have bought two of them. hope you can help
👍
Where did you order the upvc panels from. Thanks
I got them from ebay.
@@finnkay are they the same as the soffit boards for the exterior of houses or did you search pvc panel. Thanks
The Dewalt battery jet wash has some good reviews.
what solar pannel did you buy and will it charge two 12v leasure batteries want to add two to mine now but cant find the one you have or where you got it from! cheers
Hi, I used I think 25 watt ones at the time which was fine for what I needed and wanted to spend. It was also the right physical size for mounting on the rails. Now you can get more for less money if you wanted to. 25 watt was enough to keep it topped up and recharge in between use which was days, if you use it more frequently I would suggest bigger.
Ok, so realy what kind of paint are you using. You make it look so easy that it look like you are not using any kind of 2 component paint. So would you please be so kind to tell us what paint you are using?
How many years will the paint last?
Nice video… appreciate the walk through
no keel boat is it safe to sail?

This was most excellent thanks for sharing
Hi Fin, what paint did you use in this video? I am thinking of painting my Shetland 535 boat but I do not want to buy just any paint and have to redo it all.
