Awesome, thanks for posting! I think Vans were the shoes because the rubber sole gripped the deck. I read somewhere Tony Alva said the Vans Authentic shoes were $4.50, lol. And they'd sell different sizes for your right and left foot if you needed.

This movie is my happy place. I would love to see more like this. Was this an extra on a dvd or something. Love the Stacy narration. I legitimately have watched this movie 500 times since seeing it in the theater. This director edit is awesome

That “ Kid in the striped shirt “riding the Arizona pipes out by Phoenix was a Greg Ayers if I recall correctly. Those were MASSIVE , and we only had access to them for a very short period . As this tape goes on & on & on I’m remembering all sorts of people & places 😎

That was cool seeing Ty Cobb , Russ Howell & Bob Mohr along with all these other Dog Towner’s ripping it up at the Del Mar California nationals from 1975 .👍.

My Now deceased buddy Marty was our gang’s picture taker & videographer back in the mid to late 70’s & early 80’s for us & had lots & lots of footage like this here. Unfortunately most ( if not all of it) burned up completely back in 2002 when a huge fire ripped through East San Diego & wiped out his parents house where most of his stuff was being stored at that time . I still have a handful of my own pics from back in the day myself that have somehow survived. Thanks for posting this one 😎👍

The footage is great, but what I'm really curious about is when the voice-over part was recorded and who the commenters were. Can you tell us more about that? BTW, the park at 17:43-20:00 is Surf de Earth in Vista, Calif. The guy doing the FS carve grinds with the white wheels at 18:12 and all the backside grinds is Kent Senatore. David Hackett does appear at 17:43-17:50 and at just before 20:00. Easy way to spot the difference: Senatore rode regular foot, Hackett rode goofy.

Those Bones Brigade videos were a total stoker, and totally hilarious!!! I looked at pictures. I never read magazine articles from 1979 to 2017. I did skate a lot tho and moved to San Diego to go pro in 1989. I appreciate his writing, now, 40 years later. I still skate/surf concrete 3 to 7 times a week. I never needed the magazines to be stoked on skating. My older brother skated and we always kept it real. We just wanted to get gnarly and leave our blood and skin in the streets.
