Ladies, thank you for this. A small amount of Camus' literature has been on my shelf for ages, unread. There are too many excuses I could make for this and I can't really defend any of them. I will say this though: I came here because I was curious to learn more about the author of 'French Lessons' - which I am now reading - and I'm happy I made the visit. Wonderful questions, thoughtful answers. My next read will certainly be 'The First Man.' Cheers!

Thank you for posting this interview --- I learned about "The Chalice and The Blade" from a reference in another excellent book titled "Ishmael" from Daniel Quinn .. I finished "The Chalice and The Blade" a few days ago and it has absolutely rocked my world! I'm 70 years old and a strong believer in equality and fairness.... I fully subscribe to the messaging set forth by Riane Eisler and have great fear for the futures of my children and grandchildren that if we do not re-engage in partnership throughout the world. the question is asked (20mins ) as to how this pain of violence arose. i have a theory: #CreationEnvy. This is not the impoverished essentialist womb envy formulated by female psychoanalytic practitioners, in response to Freud's fallacious 'penis envy'. The intensity and driving constancy of androcratic violence goes beyond envy of a mere organ. At some point of material accumulation (of generated life in livestock and seeds and grains) males were no longer ready to accept being ancillary to this generative process.

Edith Folta pointed out a most interesting question and scenarios. Conservatives as harsh as they are about general political situation are very involved and compassionate in their community. This is contrast with the liberals who are introverted and not very active in their communities. I would feel necessary to add that a selfishness and naivety regarding voting liberals have been startling.
