No way ! I leave CR for another Central American neighbor country as its basically the same games with different names
Sounds like usa. So many tents in Washington DC. So much taxes going to other countries and lawlessness. Panamanians don’t put up with this.
And this stupid white people listening to the dumb things you have to say
Stop comparing the 2 country no one ask for your opinion you are a Canadian man talking shit go back to your country the last thing I want is some dumb as Canadian talking crap about Latin America
Please don’t talk crap about my country you live in the city of Panama is just like New York there is no beach you want beach you have to go outside the city simple, Panama has one of the most amazing beaches in the work the problem is that you haven’t look that far you are just stock in the city
I've been all over. But thanks for checking out the rest of my channel.
Glad you left
I am thank you.
There's a lot of accurate information stated here regarding CR. However, many of the cons you pointed out really only pertain to your decision in living in Tamarindo which is a beach and very far from the metropolitan area. That's why you faced so many outages, saw the terrible roads, not so promising gyms, etc. I think what you're looking for is a beach vibe location where the cost of living is better than living in the US yet also benefits from numerous commodities and yes, that being the case would explain why you preferred Panama which I would agree is more convenient. The closest alternative I would have suggested without you having to actually leave CR would have been moving to Jaco. However, Jaco has gotten pricy over the years and crowded just like Tamarindo as well so yes, Panama is a good choice...just missing the beautiful beaches that CR has.
Well said. I tried out Jaco, but much preferred Manuel Antonio along that coast. Thank you for your comment.
I heard rents in Panama city are more than $1200 in good areas like El Cangrejo. Is this one cheaper because of some reason? Have the rents gone up now? Thanks.
I posted this almost 2 years ago. It also depends where you are looking. This is in an area called San Francisco, which isn't punta pacifica. Obviously the area makes a difference as well.
@@living_in_latam Thanks.
Canada is now a cess pool.
@S.W.A......so please leave.
@@jeanninerobinson522 I prefer if you did.
Canadians destroyed Canada 🇨🇦 😢
Canada screws its people left and right like no other.. Anyone with anything going for them leaves.
I did. Did you?
No because that's another reason to hate everything about Canada. My exit tax would be somewhere about half a million
im waiting until october 2025 to see if the next election changes anything, if life continues to get harder in canada i think i might move to the USA, i mean i live less than an hour from the border and could have 1.5x the buying power there doing the same job, im 30 and im the only one of my friends from high school who owns a home, most of my friends cannot afford to move out of their parents house, despite the fact my friends are mostly college educated with nearly a decade of work experience, the only reason i own a small bungalow in a small town is because i make more than double the average wage, but i still had to move 3 hours away from my family, and everyone i know to afford a house, still though its better than spending most of my money on rent and not building equity,
Well said. Thank you for the detailed response. I agree.
Very candid and down to earth update on the Canada ruined by Truedumb (Trudeau)!
haha truedumb. I believe in facts.
Check out the channel "For the Road". It's a Mexican man and his South African wife who live in Playa. He was raised in Playa, and when they went down to Tulum a couple of years ago he couldn't get the taxi drivers to take him from the beach to town for under 500 pesos. In that down it doesn't even matter where you are from.
I am from and live in CR. The government owned banks sucks. To me the only one worth trying is the private bank BAC San Jose and their ATMs. I see you have a video on SJ vs Panama city. Comparing Tamarindo to Panama is not fair as Tamarindo is a US-expat beach town and Panama city is the country capitol. I'm not defending Tamarindo either: that rent in Tamarindo is a complete rip-off and the locals growth with that mindset. Even I sometimes wonder about moving elsewhere. 😵💫
Yeah I created a follow up video SJ to PTY. which is a more direct comparison. But I created Tamarindo to PTY not because of size, but where foreigners mostly go. A lot of expats in Tamarindo ask me about PTY.
Great video.
thanks !
I still remember 2 years ago when I was doing this for myself (Canada -> Philippines), people were still doing the old Canadian passive aggressive thing of saying "Don't let the door hit you on your way out." Now those folks are trapped inside their room because they can't afford anything. PS. Funny thing about the $100k income at the end. I made that amount in Surrey, BC and I could not afford a home. I can live fine...but to what end? I couldn't raise a family.
totally agree. Well said. Especially $100k with a big amount going to taxes. It's hard anyone in the lower mainland.
Well done vid Mintman! Too bad I missed you when I was in Medellin last year. Glad to see you doing well!
Hey Bro, maybe we'll cross paths again. Where you at now?
One thing I disagree with is the notion that earning 100k means living like a king. That might have been true before 2018, but now, I'm not so sure.
$100k in a lot of other countries that people are going to, is a lot of money. I have friends in Mexico, Bali, and elsewhere which is very comfortable.
I said $100k is living comfortable in Canada not living like a king in Canada.
Huh, I didn't know that about Canada. Seemed like such a great place.
It's great in the summer. But expensive
Wait a year or two and comeback as an immigrant and you'll get $82k in lodging, cash and healthcare absolutely free! .... everything the average Canadian has to work for.
oh wow, never thought about that lol.
That is just simply not true.
@@samaursa which part of it?
@@samaursa Stay ignorant fool
@@living_in_latam no immigrant/refugee is getting $82k. The people who have no assets and no money and no job who are just starting out in Canada get the bare minimum to survive. Not sure where that number is coming from. There are calculators online that show that the support for a family of 3 is around $27k which includes lodging and food. That's less than $2k per month. There is no 'extra' for lodging. Yes, healthcare is free, but that's the advantage of living in Canada.
Well said! Great video touching on a lot of the main points.
Very informative, I agree with things getting worse and worse over the years.
Great video Jesse! Very Informative!
It’s very sad. I long for the days before our Drama Teacher Socialist experiment. I’m out. Cannot take it anymore. Canada will always be my country but it’ll have to be a memory and a few photo albums for me. I know that Canada is more than one man, one government and a series of bad policies…unfortunately the overall culture has changed. I only need to have a 5 minute conversation with an average urban Canadian for me to completely give up hope.
where are you going to go?
@Montenegro
@@robertA19754 I've heard it's great there. It's on my list.
I understand everything ..If I was a younger man..Like MoesAxeTrows
It's all about your mindset, I was just helped a 65 year old with his options.
I'm born, raised and educated in Canada. I spent much of my 20s living in the UK. I loved it and I only returned to Canada to complete my degree. I loved living in the UK and found the differences between there and Canada minimal. The thing I liked best? Awesome public transport. If I never had to drive again, I'd be happy. Salaries were about the same in the UK, maybe a wee bit less, but that was fine for me. Things like salary and weather are absolutely meaningless to me. I care about quality of life. If the right opportunity arose, I would definitely consider moving back there or to Ireland, which I also love. The USA is, quite literally, the last country in the English-speaking world I would live in. If you've got money, your life will be great. If not, you're going to struggle and god help you if you get sick and need extensive healthcare in the US. Healthcare, of course, is the Number 1 reason why Americans go bankrupt.
Thanks for sharing your experience. It's interesting to hear that you found the differences between Canada and the UK minimal. I'll have to look into that.
I spent time in the UK also. Weather was the same, but when I was there, the Pound was 2.4 times the CAD. So things got to be a lot more expensive in the UK. But I'm sure that has changed.
In Canada, lack of available health care is the number one reason people die. This after paying a 50 percent tax burden all of their lives. Need to see a cardiologist or oncologist. "We're scheduling patients 19 months out but MAID is available in two weeks." "Need a heart transplant - don't make us laugh" In short Canada is the biggest bull shit of a country out there and Canadians are a bunch of docile cows to put up with it.
Safe injection sites didn't supply the drugs they offered clean needles to prevent the spread of disease. that being said do i agree with them? No. they should all be in prison with mandatory rehab followed by 6 months clean before release. Your also only talking about 1 Province in Canada pretty naive to say these policies are all across the country.. "anywhere else you would live like a king or a queen" Your using the 2 most expensive cities in the country.... If you take the cost of living in the 2 most expensive cities in the USA it costs more to live there...
I lived in Vancouver and Victoria. This is my personal experience, as I don't or havn't lived in other areas. Did I ever say all across the country? Where did I say that? I'm canadian and I am talking about Vancouver & Victoria. All content was Vancouver and Victoria too. But these problems are happening all over.
@@living_in_latam read the title.... "The Surprising Truth About Living in BC Nobody Tells You" Fixed it for you. What about the lie saying safe injection sites provide drugs?
Thank you for the video collaboration, looking forward to more in the future.
You are very welcome, always a pleasure.
stop moving to cities It's an idiot activity. stop the consumer lifestyle its stupid. stay out of debt its for suckers. grow up and be self sufficient and live within your means use common sense which is rare to see in these modern selfish morons.
If you think is bad now , wait until the migrant deported from the USA , Vancouver will be unrecognized, the tent city will double We need a responsible government , and we don’t have it at this time Canada is bleeding to death
I hope your wrong. But that is why I created the video to raise awareness.
Thanks for this! I am thinking about Panama and really favor cooler/colder climes with clouds (I actually cannot bear hot places) so I did a search for coldest climates in Panama. Boquete and Volcan came up and I've started watching videos about each. Volcan is obviously smaller and has less going on, basically a farming community. And Boquete seems more beautiful and lush. Hope you'll do a much more comprehensive video on Boquete based on a longer stay.
Possibly, this one is a longer version of this video. It goes over climate and real estate as well. th-cam.com/video/PHyTp39q1NM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xWjQ89sZldl488jt If you can't stand the heat. Boquete is for you.
Thank you good review
thank you for stopping by.
CR is a shit hole with no infrastructure and police doesn’t have gas for their bikes to patrol 500 square kilometres. Plus locals hate the foreigners for bringing the prices up. Cars cost 300% in CR.
Do you agree or disagree with these points made?
hmmm. should be labeled "Why I left Vancouver"
@@Jon20202 It could be, But then I could have gone to Calgary or Edmonton with that title. Instead I went to a warmer climate.
disagree, sorry to be blunt but you sound like a spoiled person who is using very real struggles of the lower and middle classes to justify personal greed ("I moved to the US because I want to InVeSt and not pay taxes"). Complaining about bike lanes that make Victoria so much more accessible and livable, are you for real?
Pura Vida
yes it is
How do you sell real estate in Panama if you haven’t lived there for 5 years… licensed realtor in USA looking to move to Panama 🇵🇦
Who said anything about not living in Panama for 5 years? I have residency in Panama. But I also travel all over latin america as I own a company that helps real estate agencies and developers grow on TH-cam and I give my leads to my clients.
I was literally there 2 weeks ago.
Yea boddy just state there 😂
ok lol
Very glad you are keeping people away from CR. Please, by all means, go to Panama to live! It's actually safer, cleaner, with less crime and much more ecologically concerned. Panama water is absolutely polluted with raw sewage. Enjoy! Pura Vida!
Stop crying! Panamá doesn't have the fault he chose to live there.
are you a Panamanian fan or a Costa Rican. Kind of unclear lol
Hi. Very useful but you seem to be comparing Tamarindo, a smallish beach community to a major city. I am sure that Panama City is more up to date and convenient than San Jose but what about if you are living out in the countryside or a beach town in Panama? Do you feel that the power grid, roads, prices etc are as good in the countryside as the city? Sad about the litter and lack of environmental awareness. Same here in Cleveland.
watch this: th-cam.com/video/larsSXIOxUo/w-d-xo.html
As an expat, I was comparing the areas an expat goes, as San Jose the capital city of Panama hasn't been a very popular expat destination. Not compared to Tamarindo.
@@living_in_latam Gotcha :)
I love Medellin weather.. and ofcourse beautiful women.. same time zone as US. 500Meg internet.. I am not going anywhere 😀
That's totally fine.
Dude, you are comparing Panama City to Tamarindo? For an apples to apples comparison you should compare against San Jose although, Panama would still beat Costa Rica in banking and car prices.

It depends where. That's a very vague statement. Costa Rica? Panama? There are different rules in different areas. Can you please give a bit more detail?
I got robbed gunpoint broad daylight in poblado. No one helped. Medellin is dangerous and don't depend on any good samaritans. Theft, dishonesty in women, is just a part of the culture. Be careful.
Be aware is a better term for it. Anywhere can be dangerous. But maybe more so in certain areas.
@@living_in_latam I get it, you have to say that, but the reality is walking around in Medellin is dangerous, and especially for anyone who doesn't blend in. It's is what it is. Keep your head on a swivel.
I don't have to say anything. I'm not defending Colombia it's the truth. Harlem in NY. Compton in LA, there is areas everywhere that if your out of place. Don't go.
@@living_in_latam Cool man. I could go back and forth on how it's different than every city you just named, but it's all good. Just look at the murder stats. Numbers don't lie
Although I agree on certain things, like the banking issues, the problem is that you are comparing a small city in Costa Rica, to the capital of Panama. It is not a fair comparison. For instance, the infrastructure of the internet or electric grid is not the same in San Jose or Escazu compared to Tamarindo, a costal small town for tourism.
I'm guessing you haven't been to my channel. Or went to the top where the comment is pinned with a follow up video. th-cam.com/video/larsSXIOxUo/w-d-xo.html
So True, been there myself, Costa Rica is too expensive and they love to take advantage of Gringos but I don't blame them, a tourist are like a feeding feeding a starving lion, they stay at it until you are broke or close to it. Know what you are doing and look for the scams, they are everywhere .
Everywhere not only Costa Rica but Mexico, and even the USA/Canada.
Costa Rica is more stable and has better education.
says who?
