Let Elephants Be Elephants Manila Launch
The LEBE campaign continued its awareness raising across Asia, with three days and nights of events in the Philippines.
This all came together thanks to the hard work and enthusiasm of our voluntary Manila team, headed up by the tireless Ian Angelo King and his wife, Joey Mead, who you may know as one of Nadya’s co-hosts on Asia’s Next Top Model.
After a morning spent discussing the illegal ivory trade with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, sharing knowledge and information about the illegal ivory trade locally and and its impacts across the region, the team shared a night of glamour at the Land Rover show room in Manila, sponsored by Land Rover Philippines, sharing the documentary with many of Manila’s influential people, from both UK and Philippine government officials and local NGO representatives to TV celebrities and business people.
Later the LEBE press conference, sponsored by Shangrila Makati, was a packed house of local media, who had all come to learn and then share the message that it’s not cool to buy ivory. It was an encouraging start to the campaign in the Philippines that we hope will generate momentum as it grows.

The more I watch these stories the more I have come to despise these enourmous and dangerous bullies. I love how you people use the term human elephant conflict as if to put the lives of these beasts on the level as that of a human being. Where I come from human lives are precious, children are precious. Human beings will always come first. If these beasts want to invade villages and crops oftentimes murdering people in their wake of destruction they need to be destroyed or sold into labor camps. I'ts unacceptable to me that people should live in fear of these creatures for. Any reason. I refuse to accept this nonsense that us human beings are an inconvenience to these beasts during their migration so humans deserve to be trampled and killed! Nonsense! If one of these creatures takes a human life they need to be put down or destroyed. When did we lose our way so bad that we put the lives of these animals above those of our human brothers and sisters. The infant mortality rate in Kenya for ,2020 was unacceptable yet they spare no expense to rescue these baby elephants? I hope the Kenyan government sees how ridiculous this is and taxes foreign donations to these so called wildlife charities and uses the money to help care for the human children being orphaned at twice the rate of these beasts. Shameful!
People say "dont buy ivory, its that simple" like as if they can do anything to influence stopping elephant poaching. Absolutely nothing is done by touting an obvious fact, in reality you need to be a part of this Dudes patrols and either stop the poachers, or stop the Chinese ivory buyers. Good luck with either of those
Maybe if China and other Asian countries and elsewhere would quit buying ivory and other elephant products that require killing of these magnificent animals, then the poaching would soon cease.

only elephants should wear elephant ivory. we can grow vegetable ivory for the little carved beads that no animal has to suffer for. we can make plastic carving blanks that are larger and more beautiful than elephant ivory and again, no animals have to suffer. there is nothing made of elephant ivory that we can not manufacture bigger, more beautiful substitutes that do not have a history of pain, suffering and blood. elephant ivory carvings are not really white - you should see them as they really are - bloody red. ONLY ELEPHANTS HAVE THE RIGHT TO POSSESS ELEPHANT IVORY.

It's banned in most countries of course, unless there's a want or desire. Yet guess who mostly has the desire for ivory? did you guess China, if u did you"re correct. I don't want to vilify an entire country. China currently has the absolute worst record when it comes the rights of most species. They have and still do today, the most horrific savage and barbaric treatment towards dogs, and cats, bears. etc They think nothing of boiling a dog or cat while their still alive, One activist heard a dog screaming in agony for 2hrs, as some onlookers laughed!! So of course they think nothing of the desecration and almost extinction of the Elephant. Additionally, we all know too well their history and record on human (their own people's) rights.
