WOW, his use of light and capturing the presence of a scene is absolutely incredible. Despite being impressionistic and not finely detailed up close, his work still feels almost photoreal simply due to his mastery of lighting. Amazing!

What a very talented painter he was.

It probably was only the elites that such beautiful and skilled art fell out of favor. As they rejected traditional values of the past, they began promoting the ugly over beautiful, no matter what the public views of beauty. So long as the gullible rich bought the trash art, they cared little for the public.
