Part of me thinks the woman crying in the background is probably because she realizes she's about to watch everyone she knows and love either die horribly in the blast or slowly succumb to the effects of radiation while being totally powerless to stop it.

I think these people are just workers behind the screens, working in the bunker in the real world. Imagine their tensions and anxiety during the consequences that thet already know.

I have always thought that the sound you hear like the woman crying or the coughing was from a control room. I think it's more terrifying this way because it shows that even when the world is about to end people are still working for a purpose, they're still there doing their job of destroying the world.

I remember the first time I played this, I was using the last of my Soviet Union submarine missiles on London when she started crying.....Which makes me vision myself at a central control computer dock and she's some desk clerk that has family that defected from the Soviet Union and were living London until I most likely turned her family into ash.....

I'm imagining you're in the control room and the sounds of people crying or other employees inside the nuclear bunker. And towards the end when you start hearing sounds of metal and chains I imagine that's the sound of the bunker quieting down and you're the only one left in the control room because all the other employees left the room

The only thing stopping this it the fact that the only winning move is not to play, if nuclear weapons were weaker, we would commit omnicide.

When hearing the crying woman while nuclear war kept going on the simulator game. It made me feel uncomfortable and can imagine how horror the nuclear war could be.
