Johnny Quest was fun. I hope we have more reviews of classic television. It's usually fun going down memory lane and revisiting childhood entertainment.

It was the greatest cartoon on Saturday morning for kids, nothing else ever came close. Unfortunately, Hana-Barbara lost money or barely broke even, the animation was top notch for its day.. consdering the other cartoons of its day. I have it on DVD and rewatch it as an older adult, I feel sory for kids today they never got to see this. Best line from Dr Quest when he said 'I have a new found respect for cavemen' after a terror encouter with a flying Pterodactyl episode... um.. humans and dinosours are seperated by millions of years.. Doctor of Quackery.. gold . this was and still is the best cartoon EVER.

JQ is a 60's show themed after 50's wild adventure books and movies. Race is an ex UDT frogman and killer, now bodyguard and driver. He works for the US government to protect Quest and his son. His lady friend, Jade, is a very hard core fantasy woman of the time. Part S&M expert and part Marion Ravenwood. She NEVER speaks to Jonny. She likes men, not boys. Hadji is a cool, loyal friend for lonely Jonny. That's why they adopted him. Jonny's super genius father Dr Benton Quest is often too busy to be there for Jonny, designing weapons for the US government. No mention of a mother. Ever. It all made perfect sense... in 1955.

I would watch it every week when it originally ran and I have the dvd of it...Johnny Quest racial comment was mild ( tho wrong) compared to the Dick Tracy cartoons of the 60's

I watched Jonny Quest as a kid. It was a favorite in our family.

That was the time where race Bannon used red berry juice to change his skin color to Red not Orange so that he could fool the natives into believing he was a God and since they didn't understand his language he insulted them and that was one of the lines he used. And in that same episode they killed many of those natives even back then as a young person I did find that pretty offense

My friends and I as kids in the 70's loved this show. It was one of the cartoons that we couldn't wait to see on Saturdays. Also, the episode you're talking about with the British guy was titled "Tresure of The Temple". The British guy's name was Perkins, and he had a native friend named Montoya. And Doctor Quest didn't bring them to justice. Race was shooting at stalactites in an underground cave to try and sink the boat that Perkins, Montoya and two other natives where riding in pursuing doctor Quest and his party. When Race successfully sunk their boat, they had to then swim. However, the crocs seem them too. And the crocs got them. You could hear Montoya say, "I cannot swim" followed by Perkins saying, "Then you better learn fast laddy". Then, nothing but yells. So, you knew that they didn't make it.

When I first came across this show in the 90s after having not seen it since I was a kid, the most shocking thing to me was the level of violence. Kids being shot at, people being shot and killed, plane crashes and car crashes that are clearly fatal and the plot just keeps steaming along. Jonny Quest's head in the cross hairs of a rifle scope of a high powered rifle is a bit jarring to see in a kid's cartoon.

Classic Johny Quest was so cool. Alex Toth always delivered.

I don't remember the title or author, but back in the 1970's I read a science fiction short story about "political correctness" that ended with the protagonist trapped inside a room with his politically correct attackers trying to beat down the door to get to him. As a child it was a sci-fi horror tale, but it's literally come true today!

JQ was in syndication when I was a kid in the 70s. I always loved it, now I remember why.

Update 11/27: Unless you're on Game Pass, my recommendation is rescinded. I'd assumed that multiplayer modes outside of the campaign would be coming. Well, they are, and it's a 20 dollar DLC for A mode, on top of a 50 dollar base game (which is apparently JUST the campaign). This has become a high grade ripoff!

Interesting. I had no idea this existed. While the movie isn't great, I'm glad you guys are shining light on movies like this that won't necessarily get enough attention to be mainstream.
