Woodward Acres
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 9 ก.ค. 2017
Woodward Acres is a small acreage in Jones County, Iowa. We are an up-and-coming tree farm and we create rustic furniture. More importantly, this is just a place for us to share a bit about what it takes to keep our acreage going.
We moved to the country and every day we learn and do more projects to maintain and improve our property for not only ourselves but also our kids.
Things you will find here: Videos using our older John Deere 2025r and our new John Deere 4044m tractors. Using our many tractor implements (Tarter 3pt Tiller, King Kutter Rotary Cutter/Bushhog, Frontier box blade, Countyline Rear Blade, Potato Plow). Using and maintaining our Polaris Sportsman ATV, Polaris Ranger Crew 1000, and our John Deere z915e commercial mower. Retaining walls, concrete projects, gardening, raised vegetable beds, and anything else that comes up.

KemiMoto Cargo Box vs. Yeti vs. Plano Sportsman Tote
Product review of the KemiMoto 45L Cargo Box and the KemiMoto 20L Cargo Box for your Polaris Ranger vs. a Plano Sportsman Tote vs. Yeti LoadOut Gobox.
We were sent these cargo boxes for extra storage on your UTV (Polaris Ranger). They work well and are waterproof and very durable for the money. I believe they are in the sweet spot when thinking about features vs. cost. You certainly can spend a lot more money but I am not sure you need to. I certainly don't need to waste money.

Cheap Landscape Edging Idea [No one has done this!]
มุมมอง 6Kปีที่แล้ว
At Woodward Acres, we needed to do some landscaping behind a large retaining wall that was built to hold up the Amish Pole Building that was stood up in under 2 days. I was concerned and wanted to prevent any washout so putting down some cheap landscaping edging to hold rocks back was a pretty good solution. I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg to pay for the landscape edging idea so I ended...

Fixing a Channel Drain [On Gravel Driveway]
How does the fence touching the tree kill the tree? I have hardware cloth around a lot of mine and they are not dead.
my oil leeks all the time
I can see buying a tractor without a loader. I wouldn't personally have any use for a loader on a regular basis. I would mostly use it for mowing, snow blowing and maybe plowing.
Deer in Michigan eat everything.
They do here too….those strawberries lasted about 2 days lol
I’m in the same boat. Exception that we bought a house on a few acres and property is narrow in between parcels. Parcel next to us was just an overgrown 20 acre lot. Didn’t think much about someone building a house but new owners decided to construct a new home maybe 100 feet from my bedroom window. Maybe 50 feet or so from property line. I currently have a chain link 4’ fence to keep wildlife out and away from my home but looks like an 8’ may need to go up. There is a nice brush line that gives us privacy. It’s on their side unfortunately and I asked for it to stay for privacy and they said they want it gone in a rude way. So guess I’ll have to answer to that. And throw up an 8’ fence as my house is someone built higher than grade.
That sucks. Our fence has held up well, zero issues. On the inside (our side) I also planted Norway spruces that are now taller than the fence but they haven’t filled in width wise. A fence will probably help solve the immediate but another option would be green giant arborvitae’s. Plant them 7ft apart and they will grow 4’ per year.
I did plant 8 thuja green giants on the other side for the other neighbors. Homes are just too close to be on this much space. They haven’t grown much. Maybe a foot or so. They were $38 at Costco. Been in the ground for 2 years this April. I need to get more because local power company came and mulched half of my privacy for my power lines that run on on my home that’s about 800 feet off the road.
Have you had key switch and starter issues? Its my only complaint with it, love it otherwise
I haven’t had any issues like you are describing. Only thing I run into is come spring the battery needs jump started and then we are good for the year. Thanks
shoots bird because he is scared of it ?? seriously dude
Thanks for watching.
That was a stupid thing for him to say no common sense
The hat...not very silly. Could be way more silly
Thanks
That tip starting @5:05 is exactly what I was looking for. So many Leopold bench videos don't show how to align the legs. Thank you!
Thanks for the comment. Happy I was able to help.
Thank you for this video. I like the idea alot. Does the planter need to be treated for outdoor elements? Approximately how long will it last outdoor?
I used treated lumber. I would guess decades
I'm doing this spring 2025 I have that same thing with my Neighbors behind me. ..
Sorry to hear about your situation
Thanks you gave me an idea and it might slow down people with bad intentions too.
I’m glad the video gave you an idea. I’m curious your idea. Thanks for watching
Can you do an update on the garage door strip that you put in
I can….about 2 mths after doing this I drove my tractor out of the shop and forgot the box blade was down and it tore everything out when it got caught. A company sent me a new weather stripping so when it warms up I will revisit this topic.
Nice❤.
Thanks ✌
So sorry you all had to go through all of that trouble, may your new neighbors continue to be a blessing by not being a bother. Thank you for sharing valuable information and your fence looks great!
9:00 looks like a huge Garter snake!!
Lol
It made more sense to me to not go by the instructions at all, the way my garage door is set up water and dirt was gonna go around it.
That’s what I thought too
On those four wheelers to properly check the oil you need to screw the dipstick all the way in and then unscrew it to check it
Good to know. I will be sure to check that in the future.
The very second you lay it down in front of the door just to try it I was like don’t fit it that way around. But you did 🙈
That’s a bad ass fence! 💪🏻
Thank you
Peace is priceless thank you ❤
Agreed
I have the same cart but I do not know how to start it, how did you do that?
We only borrowed that for a few days - I apologize but I don’t remember the specifics
@ that’s fine thank you
Why did you not use the diverter? I do when I smoke turkeys so it doesnt get burned
I just wanted to try it. We are actually recorded videos for a dedicated cooking channel now
I do too. Definitely a plus
At the very least you should have dropped the charcoal to the lower level.
Great job the Amish did. I needed a new roof including trusses for my full size two car garage including a new lean too on the back and the best bid I had was four days with four Men for over $4000. I talked to an Amish Man and he said Two men in less than 3 days for $1000 less. I obviously hired him and the roof was completely done in just two days and I gladly gave him a $500 early bonus. I have since hired him to build two decks and a closed in wood shed and a new roof for my barn in a few short years. I didn't have a Skid steer but they worked fine without it.
Same using two stakes from the start would save a lot of problems?
Love it, keep up the good work.
So. two years later, any lessons learned ? What would you do differently, if any ?
Yes curious too!!! Hoping for an update!!
Your secret is noted. I will not be saying anything about the $4k in cash. (Or the case of beer!)
Where is your beer? You need to drink a beer when you’re grilling smoking and just enjoying the day.
Depending on the approach or direction of the wind coming at the plants, I wonder if you added some wooden posts to the outside of your fence line to disrupt the majority of the strong gusts, cutting the probability down substantially.
The end result is fantastic and done fast. Each knows what they are doing for sure. But zero safety in such muddy conditions. Also the messiest job site ever.
Your little helper was doing a fantastic job and I agree with her those 4x4 post are heavy. 😊❤
How long is the break in period for the at125ex
What a cool dad - a great helper too.keep making memories, brother. My dad never taught me stuff like that so I have to hire people. He did support me in music, though. Now I pay guys like you from playing a stinkin saxophone all over SC. Cheers!
I needed this video!!!
Would a 12 year old new rider find that it goes fast enough?
Lots of variables in your question but I would think they would initially but could find that want more power in short order. My son is now 12 and he rides my 550, he’s not allowed to go crazy but the Coleman would be too small for him.
My son is a tiny 12 so I’m thinking this might be a one season warm up for him. The. My daughter would be on it. It would be more for work than play.
I got the PBC 5+ years ago. The only thing I don't like about it was the lack of the option for a drip pan. They say the juices falling into the coals is a feature, but that just just too much smoke on top of the natural smoke from the coals and the smoke from hardwood if you are using it and that's besides that fact that that kind of smoke just isn't what I'm looking for personally.
The hard part was the plastic pieces the legs pushed into. If you did not do it perfectly the bolt holes would not line up and the bolts would not go in. Then, it was near impossible to remove or spin the plastic piece as it was so tight. I stripped one bolt out during installation.
Your RoPs bar is wrong lmao
Charlotte, NC. This is what I need to keep the water from pooling by my back door.
What kind of dirt did they use in the post holes?
Hm, half of the oils i find ate for disel and i asked my pops an him figures that the stuff is too thick
I have the same issue I bought the same item. I am going to put mine down soon I hope it works.
Extra 10k and you'd be in the nice warm cab ! And super cool on those hot August days ????
I didn’t have an extra 10k at the time
U never moved any of the stones lol
Good Job. I Would Use Glue And Every 12 Inches I Would Install Tapcon Screws
just got one off a guy it starts, runs, revs, lights work, but it wont move neither in D or R. What could be the issue?
I’m sorry nothing comes to mind. Maybe go to your local powersports place and they can help?
how about a how to video on how to make a fence around a tree? that would be great
Good idea
How do you connect the two ends to make the circle?
Had the greatest neighbor ever next door for 8 years. Seven months ago he died, and now I'm stuck with his widow who is an absolute nightmare. Completely out to lunch 90% of the time. After her dogs killed my chickens for the second time in 6 months, I am done with her. And what kills me is I've been nothing but neighborly to this witch since her husband died, and she repays me by killing all of my animals. What's worse is I have to look at her dogs running up and down the fence line happy as hell and full of life while all of my animals are dead. Anyway, this brings me to your video. What did you dig those post holes with?
Sorry to hear about that. I had a post hole digger on my tractor
Got the problem but my neighbors are kin put up with it too long I have already planted the post nice thank you.
