An interesting video. The access to the pier is only possible at low tide. This film is obviously high tide. I could spot the old national school which is now surrounded by many newer buildings since my time in Oranmore. I attended low and high infants in 1964 and '65 before being sent to school in Galway city after that. All my 3 sisters attended both National and secondary in Oranmore but I attended schools in Galway. Our house was across Oranmore Bay from the Castle. I remember that Commander Bill King RN, a submarine Commander in WW2 lived in the castle in my time. His wife Anita Leslie was related to Winston Churchill and they had to rebuild the castle from ruins in the late 50's to what it is today. Their daughter is married to Alec Finn of the folk group, Dé Dannan. He has recently passed away. I spent the first half of my life in Oranmore until 1995. I miss it very much amd it has changed a lot since my time.
