Do you know how can we do it with 2 mic and 2 phones?
lol I can’t hear any difference 😂 😂😂😂
Cable type please?
USB C cable. It comes in the box and is about 1.5m long. 👍🏻
@@bambymedia Both sides type C? Thank you.
super late but thanks for making these. no one ever makes videos for just plugging a good mic into your phone to make content
You're very welcome. It seems to be an area that is underserved isn't it! I've got a few more coming that focus on smartphone only with a small amount of gear as sometimes that's really all you need.
Hi Bamby! Can you please compare the Shure MV7 and The Shure MV7+ ??
You read my mind...and also my video production spreadsheet ehehe. It's on my list to make that video in the next few weeks!
I hope you will do the shure mv7+ software review. Does it do a better job with room noise??And a full comparison on the sm7+ vs podmic usb.
It's on my list to review the MV7+ and put it up against the MV7 and also the Podmic. Video is coming soon!
Thanks heaps. Just got this last week and made you my guru for this. Love from Auckland, NZ.
Oh hooray! That makes me so happy to read. NZ is on my travel list as I've never been and it looks incredible!
Amazing video, keep the great work!
Thanks! I shall indeed!
Thank you, very useful to me!
Glad it was helpful!
Dude, I was about to go crazy and throw your microphone. I was starting to think the whole thing was a marketing gimmick. Since I received it, I have been reading the booklet that came with it and trying to use it with applications. It's a joke that everything is so complicated. I just started to understand with this video. You explained it perfectly, it's also great that you put a pause on the screen at every setting. How can this microphone thing be so complicated? Thank you, thank you, baby.
Hehehe, well I'm glad you didn't throw the microphone and I'm extra glad that you now understand how to use the microphone properly. Hooray! Best of luck creating content with it!
Wait why does everyone do intermittent fasting?! I’d die 🤣🤣 Didn’t I see a video where Alex was like, lunch? I don’t eat 🤣

I was also confused with exciter. After your tutorial, I realised that I don't need it too. Kudo!
Yay! So glad it was helpful.
Did you edit your audio in this video?
Nope. Completely clean audio as is from the microphones. I only compressed the audio on both microphones to get the audio level close to each other. So you're hearing what the microphones really sound like with no post production.
@@bambymedia thank you for explain. I prefer Shure MV7

Is one and a half meter enough to walk on the boom arm and go to the computer Even if it's in front of you?
Did you mean work instead of walk? You definitely can't walk anywhere with the 1.5m cable, but it's absolutely long enough to be on a boom arm at a desk and reach the computer.
@@bambymedia I mean, the cable run along on the boom arm. ❤️❤️

Can midroll adds be placed automatically if we want or we must do it manually for each episode?
With Captivate you have to set the midroll point for every new episode that you put in. Once you've set it though, you can switch the midroll ads out with new ones in the same spot pretty easily. With Buzzsprout, you can set it to automatically put the midroll in that you choose to every new episode, but it decides where to put it in episode, so it might not put it where you'd want it to be.
@@bambymedia what about for old ones? Can it be set to choose an auto placement so that I don’t do it manually for each?
@@montessorifromtheheart Only Buzzsprout can do it automatically on all past episodes (great if you have a huge back catalogue that you want to easily ad an advertisement to). Captivate you have to add in the midroll slot manually at this stage for all back catalogue.
@@bambymedia thank you

@@bambymedia thank you! So I am debating between BuzzBean and Captivate … can I please have your honest opinion? 1 click share of Captivate to all is very alluring but you mentioned it’s not a big deal to “post” the episode manually?

@@bambymedia also with captivate one click to share to all other platforms. Does it make a huge difference versus doing it manually with other RSS providers? The fake one sounds better to me. Voice sounds clear, while the original sounds kind of muffled with a pillow on top of it.
It definitely has more crispness doesn't it. I find the Shure SM7B too muffled for my voice generally. Good pick up!
You are so right! Thanks for taking lessons from Happy Gilmore to set us up for success! Off to be more ridiculous! Such a good reminder because like you said you don't really see a lot of that.
Yes! Go forth and be ridiculous.
I am looking to start a podcast this year. Tis was a very good summation. Thanks
Ooo best of luck with it! Starting a podcast is very fun.
Please tell me , what was your microphone level and recording software.
Microphone level was set to about 3/4 from the max. Recording software on this occasion was OBS (as I was recording with video), but normally I would record audio via Pro Tools, Logic Pro or Descript: get.descript.com/rgmxtjxzunbb depending on what I'm recording the audio for.
For me the RE20 showcases more of your voices (female/male) but the female sounds too sharp. The SM7B takes away some of your voice but is more pleasing to listen, but for the male it sounds muffled. Overall re-20 sounds better for both and an EQ should make it better, but at that point an EQ on the SM7B would also make it different. Good review.
You're right on the money with that observation. Good ear!
Such a useful and good video, thank you.
You're very welcome!
Love this! I’m throwing take one of my pod in the bin and channeling this! To quote Happy- “The price is wrong…”
Bahahaha. This makes me happy 😃 Take one round two will be way better.

My silly-fun podcast that has zero value, but just works is "The Regulation Podcast" (previously F**kFace). Three co-workers/friends start a podcast in a pandemic, and 221 episodes in it's a big ball of inside jokes that keep building into a big ball of nonsense. It's just wholesome, silly.... it does what it says on the tin and more. One of the few podcasts I'll recommend people to start from Episode 1. You'll find out why Andrew should eat the pencil.
Bahaha - the original podcast name didn't play well? I'll have to check it out! Sounds like a hoot.
@@bambymedia It's a paradox! It was attached to Roosterteeth until it closed down, which helped with fandom and sponsorship. And their merchandising... crazy. Even if the content is odd, from a podcasting perspective its a hoot.

Thanks! It was a wonderful trip. Sydney is a beautiful city.
Cool short video! I can tell you really like what you’re doing :)
I remind myself how lucky I am on almost a daily basis. It's nice to have a job that I love and that takes me places from time to time!
u say it doesnt sound good but sounds nearly the same. hilarious and give props to the clone already
It's a really convincing fake isn't it! I can hear the differences with a trained ear and a great studio setup, but to a lot of folks, the differences seem pretty negligible. I don't like the "tinny" sound to the fake and it lacks depth - but it's super convincing! Probably why I didn't notice it was a fake when I initially started using it.
@@bambymediaI put a cloudlifter in front of my fake, and it sounds incredible 🤷♂️
Awesome lady, you have got to back up from the mics
Nice voice. Not a valid comparison here since the foam hoods differ with the best one on the favored mic? An important reveal that fakes can be bought off Amazon. I'll subscribe.
how about the limiter?
Applying a limiter will increase the perceived loudness of the sound coming out of your microphone by applying compression. This can be useful if you've got a decent variance in dynamics of the vocals that you're recording, but I tend not to use the limiter (especially not in this DSP setting). I'll apply a compression if needed via DSP and then if it feels like it needs more, I'll apply a limiter in the final state of post-production if I'm mixing the vocal with other sounds. Over compression is very common, so err on the side of "less is more"! Hope that helps!
I am listening through audio engine HD4 but I cannot figure it out which one is fake....
That's interesting isn't it! It's definitely easier to hear if you've got headphones on, as the sound doesn't have to travel as far but the differences aren't huge are they! To me it just sounds "flatter". Not as much warmth, the frequency response isn't as vast. I can see how it's easy to be duped on this isn't it!
Do you a have video on what do ur first ever podcast ? The first video has to be good enough give me the ppl to come back more …any advice

Thank you for the review! I've been considering getting a new microphone due to severe EMI noise. Unfortunately, I noticed that you're experiencing the same issue at several points (e.g., 4:47). This leads me to believe that the Rode PodMic is also susceptible to EMI noise. I've tried everything I can to eliminate this noise but haven't found a reliable solution. If you have any insights on this issue, I'd greatly appreciate it. ❤
I've found most of the USB microphones have varying degrees of EMI associated with them. I use XLR microphones for my normal setup and the noise floor on those (depending on the brand) is much better. My current favourite is the sE Dynacaster DCM8: th-cam.com/video/KiOgAbqKej4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=b2dwxV3S4DoWEIQ7 I also battled that one with the SM7B in a studio so you can hear how they sound in a completely "dead" space too. th-cam.com/video/-C-p9iGFsE4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Mn4lpIZmBcwDdArH
@@bambymedia @bambymedia Thank you so much for the detailed response! I'll check out both videos and decide which one suits me best.❤
Evolution of the SM7 Microphone The original SM7 was introduced in 1973. The SM7A revision improved the humbucking coil and the design of the yoke mount. This revision was introduced in 1999. The SM7B incorporated an additional larger windscreen. It was introduced in 2001. basically it's the same microphone for 50+ years, and they are manufactured not only in mexico, but also in china, reverse engineering shouldn't be that difficult with easy access to components as absolutely everything is manufactured in China nowdays.
A great snapshot into the SM7 - I too found it fascinating that the microphone really hasn't changed much since first being introduced. I personally think that at this price point (and lower) there are many other microphones that I'd rather use.
The real one sounds deeper and quieter. The fake one sounded a bit more noisey, less deep, but I thought her voice sounds better on the fake. Maybe the real shure is made for he's and the fake mic is for she's. The fake is a she mic. 😁😁😁
Hahaha the fake is a "she" mic. Maybe that's how they should market the fake one? I think the SM7B isn't the right mic for me. It's too muddy and doesn't give me the nice sparkly "top end" tones that make my voice shine. The sE Dynacaster DCM8 is definitely a better choice for me (and I'd argue most people with higher tones). Check out this battle so you can see what I mean! th-cam.com/video/-C-p9iGFsE4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Mn4lpIZmBcwDdArH
Excellent short video. How's Rode PodMic USB so far?
It's still performing really well, and I've been recommending it to all our clients on a lower budget that want both USB and XLR options. I've had zero issues with it!
@@bambymediaSweet! I'll keep my eyes on the Rode PodMic USB (while doing research).
Great video, B.M.
Glad you enjoyed it!
You shouldn't have to go through all of these acrobatics with a condenser mic. It's a bad mic, poorly built, poorly designed. The end.
Condenser microphones always require more delicate attention than their dynamic microphone friends. Condenser mics are wonderful, but you have to have the right environment (like an acoustically treated room) to get the best out of those mics. For the price point, the NT-USB is pretty remarkable - but it's not my first choice for podcasters, especially recording in home setups. What's your favourite for your setup?
God bless you dear
Well you got ripped of on price as well haha if you know where to buy the fakes they are about 80 bucks

@@alice_hez I love this! Okay so the computer you're using shouldn't be causing any off the issue with the hiss in the microphone. If you think it might be the headphones, then I'd suggest doing a test recording just with the microphone and have the headphones not plugged in at all. So hit record - just microphone only and then try a different pair of headphones to see whether the actual recording from the mic has the hiss, or whether it's being created from the headset.
@@bambymedia had a tinker today found out it’s the headset 😭 on the hunt for a new pair now thankyou x
Amazon had a fake Sennheiser e945 listed, too. It was selling for much less than any other e945. And customer reviews were complaining about feedback issues. Those were red flags because super cardioid mics shouldn’t feed back too quickly. Scrolling through the reviews, I eventually got to one where the customer took it apart and took photos to show how the inner guts differed from a real e945. It seems Amazon has since removed the listing.
Oh that's awesome that there were enough reviews (and a detailed pull apart) to give you all the red flags. I wish I'd had the same experience with my fake. They're everywhere it seems!
