New E5B unit for my CB&Q 1947 Twin Cities Zephyr
มุมมอง 242หลายเดือนก่อน
Bill Denton was nice enough to cast me an E5B shell for my Twin Cities Zephyr. I got it home this afternoon and got it painted, decaled, weathered, and mounted on the Kato mechanism (the donor mechanism was from an E5A unit, so I had to swap one of the trucks out so I could mount a coupler on both ends). The E5B really completes the look of the train. Thanks Bill 😀

My rendition of the 1956 B&O "National Limited." While not 100% accurate, it is a decent representation of the train. Three cars (one of the baggage cars and the two Kato 6-6-4 sleepers) will be swapped out of the consist with prototype cars as soon as I get them built (a baggage/dormitory/bar/lounge car, a 10-6 sleeper, and a 14-4 sleeper).

Great and very accurate job on the “Pioneer “. l rode the train once from St Paul to Chicago. I’m glad you made the the effort to make an accurate consist. Many modelers have no idea about passenger train make up in the 1960s. I liked the inclusion of both a PRR X29 express box car and the REA express reefer,, both of which were common on many trains at the time.
Lovely…the weathering is amazing
Thanks.
Nathan, nice video of a great looking train set i grew up in Milwaukee in the 40s and 50s and on week ends my dad would take me along while he took photos of the real trains at the depo. he developed his own pictures, and won local awards in contests. i still like the original orange and maroon colors.better.! We would also visit the North western depo, to watch the "400". . oky, witch do you like better> N gauge, or HO gauge.? Ho gauge is easer to see, i prefer that. make it a great day!!
I have an old n scale passenger car that has a light (circa 1970’s). The light flickers, any suggestions how I can get the light to stay on?
Awesome channel great video keep them up make sure you like and subscribe thank you for your support I need to get my train videos thank you
Great work Nathan! Really appreciate your attention to detail!
Very nicely done and informative too!
Those cars and locos look fantastic. I also do N scale , and understand the horror of putting on decals smaller than my tweezer tips! Every time I put decal in an F unit or E unit numberboard, I swear I'm switching to G scale lol. I have subbed. I run a Milwaukee Road coach on some of my UP "City" trains.
Very nice build's and paint work !
Nice triple articulated!
The friendly SP is always my favorite
Awesome!
Great looking layout!
Fantastic prototype modeling! I’m subscribed!
These look great. How did you get that great look of depth on the trucks?

Great video, very nice layout as well.
Hi Nathan, thanks. Another great video. I love your layout and modelling... I'm a big fan of passenger trains!
Good review. I didn't notice the missing stripe on those cars until watching your review. I thought something looked a little "off" when looking at my set yesterday. No big deal for me, I won't bother with the decals, run them like this. I really was impressed by the Kato's lettering on the equipment. Red letters with the fine print black outline, really excellent job. First real passenger train I saw as a kid was the Milwaukee Road, with the FP45's on the train. Made a life long impression. Thanks!
Great overview of The Milwaukee Olympian with the cars you have completed, along with what Kato released. Bummer that the coach cars are missing the red stripping, but as you said, some red decal stripping should correct that. It makes for an impressive train. ~Tony
Nice!
Hi Nathan. I thought I was the only guy with all the extra yellow n scale Milwaukee road equipment! (Non Kato) I have this Kato set on preorder of course. But not here yet . I have 7 intermountain f units Milwaukee road yellow. I think I am missing one number out of what was made. I have some of the rapido yellow milw cars coaches and sleepers and I have almost every centralia car shops yellow passenger car. Well prob 80% of what I see on the website that was made And of course the 1991 kato yellow Milwaukee set with the e8s. The fox valley passenger cars of course. 2 intermountain superdomes. I met Bill Denton in person at trainfest. He sure is a nice guy. I like the fp45/f45 yellow you have. Wouldn’t mind picking those up down the road.
Looks awesome, but where are you getting N scale decals for the NC&StL?
Looks great, Nate!! Inspiring!
The train looks so good with the smooth / generous radius curves.
Stunning.
Hi Nathan, I really like your layout. It seems to operate very well, the track work is excellent, and a great selection of rolling stock. Thanks for taking the time to video and post. It's much appreciated by me!!
Very Nice!!!!!

Who makes the heavy weights? They look fantastic! I've been looking for the marker and drum head for mine.
@chadgeissler4544 they are the club's cars, but I believe they are mostly Branchline kits.
The layout is looking really nice!
nice
Can you do the same kind of swap with old Con-Cor bodies on Kato mechanicals?
How is the color consistency from MTL to Kato to Rapido? This is inspiring!
The MT cars are a bit lighter shade (both the blue and the grey). The Kato and Rapido colors are pretty close. I'm using Modelflex B&O Royal Blue and L&N Grey for the cars I'm painting.
This is a nice layout. Thanks for taking the time to record and share.
Its a real nice train running. A real "american breathe". That is also on the scenery. I get lots is in progress , some in compromise. What stands is a nice modeltrain layout with a touch to keep the big trains running.

Mr Nathan, Could you share your layout dimensions and room size please. I am pretty sure I have seen all your videos and have not come across any. Love the layout !!!
Nice layout, but why do you need to have the volume turned all the way up inside a building?
Very nice running
Beautiful! Great-looking trains rolling by. ~Tony
Very impressive indeed! Thanks for sharing. My only experience with the real Santa Fe did not extend farther west or south than Abilene, Kansas in the 1980s. I did ride Amtrak's Southwest Chief from Kansas City to Chicago in the same decade. I have no experience with the desert country of the Southwestern USA except near Las Vegas, Nevada. But several of my older relatives worked for the Budd Company in Philadelphia, which built many stainless steel cars for the ATSF. And I've seen the movie about the Harvey Girls with the song about "riding all the way from PhiladelPHYay on the Atchison, Topeka and the Santa Fe". I have a fair number of ATSF freight cars, mostly boxcars and reefers, because those were most likely to get to the Northeastern US.
Beautiful trains and layout! Thanks for sharing. Dave
Those are some terrific looking trains. Beautiful work. Great looking layout as well.
