I personally liked 13, 15 and 18 the most. Especially in 13 and 15 i made gazillions for free with trading formation cards and popular jerseys. Never bought any coins or points as i didnt need it anyway while having stacked teams. 18 was easy to build too by just playing. Plus i was one of those players who bought the game once per 2-3 years as i enjoyed playing some longer with my superteams. But after 18 it became worse each title, especially when I bought 24 last year, it was shocking how trash the game became even though i had probably my best stacked club ever. But the magie is gone, the gameplay is atrocious and its all meta BS now. And it sucks as i just love football. To be fair, in a way i liked the price ranges as the prices became so absurd that when ea put it in, you could afford the elite cards for way cheaper. These days as said in the video, i dont even get excited anymore when packing a elite card as at this point everyone have the same stacked teams with the same players and meta. The game is more like who can cheese and abuse mechanics better instead of playing realistic football. I wish i was the boss at EA, my main priority would the n be restore the greatness it used to have instad of releasing completely broken trash games which are also rigged wirh DDA and stuff.

Lol it's funny you big up 14 so much, everyone at the time was calling it the worst Fifa to date. IMO it still is.

Think it would have been worth mentioning that Fifa 14 was the first mobile version that was free, which I expected to be absolutely massive for EA. I was in middle school at the time and our group of friends had daily conversations on what others did to their team the night before. Infinite fun and excitement when bidding for an 83-rated player, packing the rare 85-rated player and giving a friend the side eye when they packed someone 87-rated. Ratings actually meant something, now it's bloated like college GPA.

FIFA 09 didn’t have divisions only tournaments and single match online. Also didn’t speak to the collection, training players/coaches, contracts with expiring players. FIFA 09 made ea realize demand was there for gambling and got rid of collections and trainings as those were means to get better players without paying for them.

price ranges honestly made the market more balanced. Coin sellers actually created a huge disconnect between those who spent money post release and those who didn’t. cards like ronaldo were 2 million coins, impossible to attain for someone who didn’t buy coins. Also, no mention of Chemgate?

Really OG player and fifa 14?? i already gave up on fifa a long time before fifa 14. I remamber playing fifa 98 and playing it hard, this was epic! only reason i`m back to fifa is my son now. So every generation has there fifa titles.

Been playing fifa since fifa98, never ever started FUT.. why not play career mode? is it not more fulfilling?

What killed it for me was the release of promo cards every week. Before, you could actually skip playing the game for a while, return, and your team would still be competitive if you had top players. If you packed an icon, you knew you could enjoy him for the whole game. Now if you don't play a month your team is obsolete.

back in the days where silver cards could be 100k+

Imagine what pro clubs, career mode or even FUT could've looked like if EA's only allegiance wasn't to their shareholders. The Fifa series really highlights how capitalism causes worse game-design.

2 things you forgot to mention! The first Ultimate Team you would create a player and build around your created player. And 2nd was that you had training items that would give perma stat boosts to players, so the most OP and wanted players on fifa forums were.... Peter Crouch and Nikola Zigic

Been playin since 99 , I m 31 now , got introduced to UT at fifa 18 when it already started to downfall , played seasons till then . STILL PLAY IT

I remember packing CR7 in Fifa 13 i literally went insane i fell out of my chair backwards. The gold old days of my childhood.

Hyper motion x ruined the feel of game play with un-needed animations to delay inputs. Cross play destroyed the market and made making coins harder. Tradeable packs are sparce now unless you pay EA for them

Fc24 is the worst game by far to date. Never hated it so much gameplay wise. So hard to keep the ball.

So EA pushed you away to NBA games. That they make. That have their own version of ultimate team. That are just as predatory in terms of gambling. Nice.

I will maintain that price ranges were ultimately a good thing. Introducing them in the middle of FIFA 15 was bad, but they did essentially kill coin sellers and end the massive inflation they caused

Didn't realise there were divisions in the first ultimate team, thought that didn't come out until about FIFA 12. I also agree that FIA 15 was the last good FIFA albeit with those shitty price ranges. Coin sponsors definitely made a lot of money and then lost a lot. I had a few sponsors back in the day when I made FIFA videos and I only had a couple thousand subscribers so think those with millions of subscribers made some bank.

I was a FUT Founder in 09 played every year and I miss the look, I hate how the 'cards' don't even look like cards. Also the menu's were easy maybe 24 is too old to understand menu's of today. I wish they didn't have to shut the servers down at least so I could see what my teams were back when I was a kid. I also love how people hate women being in UT and they say they should have their own mode but it's 'Ultimate Team' I remember the old intro's were calling for you to mash your team up, but even I just go with a straight prem / single league team. Now I at least sprinkle in some of the Arsenal girls so now I have a Arsenal team of men and women my true ultimate team. Really good video thought this would miss having to pay for the original FUT I even forgot about the UCL one prior to 09, I wish I could just see my teams from back then and maybe play an offline game with them
