And while we’re talking about things that make us squirm but really shouldn’t.
00:40
I’d like to say that I’m a big advocate for not hiding your enthusiasm for things. It seems to me that there is a false stigma around eagerness in our culture of ‘unbothered ambivalence.’ This outlook perpetuates the idea that it’s not cool to ‘want it.’ That people who don’t try are fundamentally more chic than people who do. And I wouldn’t know because I have been a lot of things but I’ve never been an expert on ‘chic.’
But I’m the one who’s up here so you have to listen to me when I say this:
04:10
Never be ashamed of trying. Effortlessness is a myth. The people who wanted it the least were the ones I wanted to date and be friends with in high school. The people who want it most are the people I now hire to work for my company.

Always I have been interested why they read their stories from a sheet?
Great question! Maybe she needs the script because she's an actress after all, right? :) You know, reading from a sheet is like having a cheat code for speeches. it keeps you from wandering off and turning your speech into a 3-hour movie! Plus, It’s also a good backup plan in case their memory decides to take a vacation halfway through.
Maybe it's a sure way to avoid unexpected mistakes at the moment to speak, and give the best pace and intonation to the speech.
@@moncardiobit2806 Great points! I fully agree. English learners, shadowing these speeches is a great way to practice and improve, just like what we’re doing on this channel!

🙏🧑Thanks full Hi When it comes to speaking skills, I often wonder how to connect the ideas I have in my mind with the vocabulary I have learned, regardless of whether the topic is simple or complex. Should my practice focus on transitioning from vocabulary to ideas, or should it move from ideas to vocabulary?
Thank you for your thoughtful comment! It's a great question, and both approaches are important for improving your speaking skills. Let me share my personal experience. I memorize phrases that I often use in specific situations, making sure I fully understand their meaning in my native language when doing so. For example, as a working professional, I hold meetings every day, and I’ve memorized a set of phrases for the entire process. By using the same kind of language every day, I feel that the connection between vocabulary and ideas naturally falls into place without much conscious effort. I also feel that by fully memorizing speeches by Denzel Washington or Steve Jobs and repeatedly reproducing them over and over again, the connection between ideas and vocabulary naturally falls into place. I believe the key here is to focus on a video you like and practice with the same video repeatedly. I recommend moving on to the next video only after fully understanding the current one. I personally watch the same speech by Denzel Washington or Steve Jobs at least 100 times and make an effort to be able to speak it in my own words. I’m glad if I can help support your efforts to improve your English skills, even in a small way. Let’s keep working hard together!
@@English-Shadowing-Practice Thank you for your comprehensive response. You have effectively explained the process of translating words into ideas; however, there comes a time when we must convey concepts in a more dynamic and proactive manner. For instance, the first task of the TOEFL exam asks me to identify the best book I have read and its impact on my life. In such situations, how can I demonstrate fluency and confidentiality? Does your perspective still align with pre-established frameworks? I suspect that the pre-prepared templates we have memorized are not fixed and passive patterns; rather, they can actively extend to new topics. However, I am uncertain about the fluency of speech and the absence of tension in communication.
Thank you again for your thoughtful comment! I agree that sometimes pre-learned phrases or templates may not fully adapt to new situations, and more dynamic skills are needed for such cases. That being said, I believe having a solid core structure in place provides a strong foundation for flexibility. For instance, by having a reliable framework in mind, you can gradually expand your interests, exposing yourself to a variety of new topics. As you broaden your vocabulary and ideas, you'll become more capable of responding dynamically and confidently, even beyond the templates you've memorized. In real-life situations where you need to give a speech or speak, you can draw on your existing knowledge and make small adjustments to the phrases you’ve practiced. This is a key way to enhance fluency. The flexibility you're aiming for comes through repeated practice and applying these frameworks to a wide range of topics. I also appreciate the Japanese concepts of "Shuhari" and "Kataburi." I believe these ideas resonate with me because I enjoy first making a framework my own before expanding my skills. As someone who is also learning just like you, I would love to continue hearing your thoughts and comments. Let’s keep working hard together! [Full script] Now after hearing everyone speak I don’t know about you but I am feeling pretty ready. I’m united with each and every one of you to help create world where every young person is empowered. Where every young person is educated and where every young person is skilled and prepared to fulfill their full potential. And like I said earlier, young people make up 25% of the world’s population. That’s like a lot of people. That’s literally billions of people. And all of them watch my TH-cam videos. No I’m kidding. I’m kidding. Give or take a few. Don’t quote me. But the point I’m making is they are the most connected generation there’s ever been.We have access to borderless tools and technologies that allow us to share our voices, our knowledge and our experiences further than ever before. And that’s exactly how I found my platform using a technology that didn’t exist 13 years ago called TH-cam. And that’s why my parents don’t know what I do for a living.
