I have found this service extremely difficult to use and resulted in eventually receiving a pledge from Saltash Health Centre that I would be contacted by 18:00 the following evening. However just an hour later I received a further email advising me that owing to the pressures on staff my case would be assessed by doctors and if judged not urgent I should try again and resubmit my enquiry if nobody contacted me within 48 hours. This second email did not suggest what would be classified as urgent or offer a reply service or contact number and led to my attending Derriford Hospital A&E where I was kept waiting from 19:00 until 03:30 before leaving with a course of antibiotics having received chest X rays and blood analysis. The following day I was contacted by Saltash Health Centre who called to make my appointment, but the staff member flatly refused to accept my suggestion that the second email might have misled me telling me "oh well that's a generic email, everybody gets that". In that case I can see why the A&E department at Derriford is overloaded and patients of Saltash Health Centre believe their service standard has plummeted!
