Doing tough things with a good bunch of people - BVRT 2024 (Ep53)
Over two days, about 20 of us rode 140 km from Yarraman to Fernvale, along the old Brisbane Valley Rail Line.
Although the BVRT now caters to riders of all ages and abilities, some event always shakes things up for us. From breaking things (bikes and bones) to flat tires, this year was no different-it absolutely bucketed down. The second day saw only six of us finish because of the deluge (and other commitments, apparently 😏).
Despite the wet and cold, we had a blast.
The BVRT will be the start of plenty more riding adventures to come this year.

    I was there early October, I "made it" just before the park closes for the season. The weather was nearly unbearable. Hot and Humid. I was the last and only trekker of the park. I could visit Finger 5 on day 1 from the carpark (very long day) and Finger 1 to the water, then it was night and it would be stupid to swim in total darkness, especially I had 3 nights of thunderstorms and rain. Then on day 2 I visited Finger 3 (couldn't find the end), a bit of George 4 (too many boulder didn't take the time and no desire to go up this canyon) and finished with Finger 2 close to the end where it was floaded so I didn't get to the very end of it, well from what I know even the best guide hasn't reached the end of Finger 2 yet. Then I went back to my basecamp, started hiking back during the night. I reached the car park on day 3 at 9 am and found a lift back to the visitor center where I gave the EPIRB back. I filmed my exploration in VR360 and hope to do a film about it. Good effort.

    Did the new (4th) roof top tent fail as well (I just watched your other videos about it)? I was so tempted to buy one but seems you've had endless problems, and I didn't expect that from one of the most expensive RTT out there. The saving grace is their support seems to be good and at least they are replacing them.

    • @thekadonexperience
      @thekadonexperience 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hullo! the 4th RTT hasn't failed, however we haven't used it as extensively as the previous models yet. We are planning on doing some smaller trips in it this year and then a larger trip in it next year, which. I think will be the real test. If you are still in the market it is an amazing RTT and has a lot going for it and 5 year warranty is a massive peace of mind for us. Yes we have had a few issues, but we were one of the first in the country to get the new model and they've resolved a whole bunch of issues through iterations since then. I think the current batch is a lot better than the originals. We will do an updated video on this once we've given the 4th version a proper work over 🙂

    Hey, Your content quality is excellent and your content ideas are also good. But your videos have lower audience engagement. Need a proper searchable video tag set up to reach the targeted area and audience. Here are also some of the issues which you need to fix. If those problems are fixed your video easily ranks on the top search results and you get your potential viewers according to your video niche organically. I have some plans for you to fix those issues. Can I share?

      We haven't used it a whole lot since we finished the lap. But in the 2 weeks after this video we did use it, we had no issues. What we have noticed is that James Baroud fixed the issues we've had with the prior units in this model. We will make a video at some point going through the whole thing in depth. We just haven't been able to yet.

      100% agree. We think that once the issues have been ironed out in the design/manufacturing side of things it will be an amazing tent. Not many other tents can beat it on paper. We'll get into those things in a more detailed review video. Thanks for the comment! 🙂

    • @thekadonexperience
      @thekadonexperience 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The reason the winch wasn't first resort was because there weren't actually a lot of solid trees around to winch from. We were nervous about pulling them down and onto the road. I agree it is probably why the bog-hole is getting bigger, but you can bypass it if you wanted on the right hand side of it.We were with locals who took us specifically here for a bit of fun, so that's what we had. We appreciate that this may cause some frustration for those that live and work on the neighbouring stations. We in the end did cross via the causeway upstream (next video). Perhaps something that would help everyone would be if there was a bit more clarity on the route(s) across. On our drive through, we didn't see one sign or posting advising that the causeway was out of action - even google maps said it was clear. I believe it's been out of action for a long time, so to us, not to have it sign posted is interesting. Not all of us will take the crossing for the thrill of it. If we did, we would have driven through (we didn't). We just wanted a shorter route to Karumba over driving +/- 1300kms back to Cairns and around, which I assume most people would prefer.

    Too much excess! If you unpacked and hadn’t used it in all that time, it’s excess. I got 2 slaps in my face for looking and one at the penultimate ending for my comment. Not nice at all. 🤬🙏🦘

      I suppose what one deems as excess versus not comes from experience. Let's just say we're more experienced now than 6months ago 🙂

    Great clip guys! I’m also saying not bogged 😂 Good job getting it moving. I think we’ll be down that way between now and Christmas. Surprised to hear you say it was the worst corrugations… we hated the road into the bungle bungles haha!

    • @thekadonexperience
      @thekadonexperience ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Yeah, I think we've come to that it wasn't bogged. So the mighty FJ is still yet to be bogged this trip. By far much worse than Bungles. I don't think we had this in the video, but there were even corrugations on the beach driving sections - I've never seen that before. If you guys are going in, just take it slow!

    K, you weren’t bogged because the beast moved on its own. 👍🏻 The WA coast is very impressive as always, except for the slap in the face! 🤬

      That's what she keeps saying too! Think we've had a pretty unanimous agreement that it wasn't a true bogg. Agreed, the WA coast is stunning and we can't get over the abundance in wildlife.

      It really is an amazing area. The rock is quite different to what we've experienced so far on this trip.

    An odd video with a sudden ending!?. Not to worry as the landscape didn’t care about it being windy. No doubt you kissed and made up after your spat. Update on the fuel tank leak? I think you were both suffering from caffeine deprivation. 🙈🤣😂👍🏻🙏🦘

      @thekadonexperience ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it just shows we were a bit off during the filming of that video. I think a bit of caffeine deprivation mixed with the wind grating on us a bit 😅? We did kiss and make up and the tank didn't leak in the end thankfully. We just have a nice dent to remind of us our time in the Kennedy Ranges 😁

    Great Video guys. Its interesting to see you learning and how the situation progresses. Maybe try using Passenger/Driver when chosing the direction., Ii avoids some confusion. Once you get used to driving steep tracks you will feel better and enjoy the challenge more. Great result in the end.

      Thank you! It's funny you mention the driver side vs. passenger side. Not the first comment we have had about it and also I think we said that too each other after we had filmed this 😂 ah well we'll get there one day.

      Yep it was from our drone. Super lucky to get this one and probably one of our favourite bits of footage form the trip so far.
