This brings tears to my eyes thinking of my dad who played trombone and would bring me to hear the Salvation Army band. Merry Christmas from Chicago.

It isn't Christmas without the Salvation Army band. The sounds bring wonderful memories of my late father who was a dixieland trombone player and loved the SA band. Merry Christmas from Chicago!

I went past central station today and I met this wonderful band. the melody waffled through the hall. It really brings me a amazing feeling of holiday especially when I am abroad alone. I feel I am included in a group of people around me. It was a warm, calm, homesick-free moment. Thank you and merry christmas.

It's amazing how many people walk by and don't give. Even each penny adds up. What the world needs now is love, sweet love.

I used to accompany my dear late father to Nile Street. We were always so genuinely warmly welcomed and this was so gratefully received by Dad. When he did pass away, a few band members kindly played at his funeral and I know Dad would have been so touched at this tribute! God bless Nile Street

The Salvation army needs to wake up that we are not all white and middle class.

I loved to hear the Salvation Army Band at my local mall. No longer safe to go there. I did get to hear them this year at our Christmas Candlewalk. Of course I gave.

I must admit I have had to "correct" those who have spoken badly of these people in my presence or tried to assault them while out in the pubs , I'm not a follower but I know they do real good in places others will not go . Have some respect folks .

Out town recently had our annual "Candlewalk" and a Salvation Army played with a kettle in the front. I hadn't heard the band since the "old" mall days. My wife and I stopped and listened for awhile. It was like zen lol. Of course I donated.

My roots are from Leads and My Great Grandparents started the work of the Salvation Army in Northern Manitoba Canada

Great inspiring comments. As a Salvationist I admit we miss open air bands; now a rare treat. But our work for the physical, mental, social and spiritual wellbeing continues all year round.

I am reminded of a Christmas so long ago as i walked through the Dunstable precinct, in the distance i heard the Salvation army band playing, I continued my walk towards them, noticing my good friend Eddie, was playing the tuba, he stopped the band, and in a loud voice said John what would you like to hear us play, goodness me i was 23 and so embarrassed , Eddie was grinning from ear to ear. I looked at the band and at Eddie and said please play Oh Come All Ye Faithful, and with that said the band struck up and played. Its such a treasured memory for me. I now approach 73 years old and i do wonder where the time has gone , I heard Eddie past away a few years ago, and i remember him as such a good man, and friend, I moved away from Dunstable in 1978 heading North to Cheshire, today in Northwich 2023 with Christmas fast approaching on a makeshift stage was the Roberts bakery brass band, and yes they did play oh come all ye faithful, and again i thought of that late cold wintery afternoon in Dunstable where my friend stopped the band to ask me for a request. So again i find myself with this good memory and again say thank you so much, best wishes from Cheshire and Sisaket Thailand. ( i retired there ) Lastly i should add the Thais celebrate Christmas too. I would think they have never heard a Salvation army band play though, once again thank you very very much. and sorry for the long post.

It was a pleasure listening to the wonderful work and years service that Paul and Kathy had given to the corp and sections. It's wonderful. I remember when we played these tunes in 1960's-1970's in our salle centrale corps Band, Kinshasa centre division, drc territory

What a wonderful service this morning the YP band played with gusto . A blessed song from the songster. A great piece from the band The whole morning was a JOY. Lovely to her. Thank you to you all for the lovely service this weekend. It was good to hear what goes on in prison and that the army are heavily involved. In Scarborough we had two retired officers that used to visit Hull prison monthly. I expect very rewarding at times. God Bless all your work for the Master.
