A short film about Ntate Kheteng, working with MAF Lesotho since the early 90's. I haven't met anyone who holds humor and profoundness between his fingers like he does. A role mode. A leader. And example for us all. Originally made for Flight Crew- Mission Aviation Fellowship Filmed and edited by me, Grant Strugnell.

Pulane Valley, Lesotho

The Ha Makoae and Pulane villages in Quthing, Lesotho are found in the foothills of the Maluti mountains, just north of the high peaks that divide South Africa and Lesotho. The mountains in this area are home to Basotho and Xhosa people who have lived here peacefully for generations. The are a kind and welcoming community. In 2008, a project began to try and assist children and families in the ...
A 'Normal' takeoff- Not exactly a clickbait title!
มุมมอง 4312 ปีที่แล้ว
Last week I demo'd a Max Perf Takeoff. Following up this week with a normal takeoff. The technique we use is a little different from regular GA techniques. Have a watch and see how we do it. Appreciate feedback and requests on what you wanna see.
Maximum Performance Takeoff Demonstrated
มุมมอง 6432 ปีที่แล้ว
It's been a while! I want to make sure I'm making good and useful videos, not just churning out boring content. So, I have decided to make few videos, and only when I feel I have something useful to share. Today I am talking about how to do a max performance takeoff, and when to use this technique. Remember, what I am talking about applies to our SOP's, and our aircraft type. Use the general id...
My family and life in Lesotho
มุมมอง 6K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Usually I post more technical flying videos, but as my family and I prepare to take a break from Lesotho for a few months to travel to see family, I thought I would share this video that gives you a quick feel for what Lesotho is like, as well as the work my wife does at Pulane Children’s Centre, and what I do with MAF. If you want to know more about what we do, check out our website at strugne...
Aborted landing in terrain!
มุมมอง 6213 ปีที่แล้ว
An airborne abort point for landing means that at some point on final approach you have to make a go/no go decision. At Nohana in Lesotho, that point is pretty far out on final. This is what happens when the pilot aborts due to people in close proximity to the threshold.
My GoPro froze! Snow in Africa.
มุมมอง 1983 ปีที่แล้ว
I recorded a beautiful flight over the snowy peaks of the Central Range in Lesotho, an aborted landing and another landing... BUT, after I landed I saw the wing mounted GoPro only got 30 seconds before giving up from being so cold! I didn't want to throw it all out, so I put together what I could! Hope you enjoy.
'Easy' Airstrip. Hidden Dangers.
มุมมอง 7343 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a pretty straight fwd example of one of the easier airstrips in Lesotho that sometimes tricks us! Qachas Nek is a tar runway, around 2500' long, so it should be pretty easy right? Well, usually its fine, but the fact that another operator had 2 accidents here in decades past tells you that there are some hidden threats here. Join me for a routine landing where I discuss some of the thre...

For episode 3 of MP, I join MAF Lesothos Chief pilot for a medicine delivery to FXSY. En route we encounter some weather, and we have a landing that's right on the limit. I also speak to Bryan about things he has learnt after 12 years of flying in Lesotho. I hope you enjoy this episode.
