The Ocean Speaks
A contemporary dance-based performance incorporating text, poetry, soundscapes, and visual impressions. It reflects upon the precolonial, colonial, and current significance of the Ocean in the formation of African nations, their current state and future, focusing on Kenya.

Very interesting talk, I am sad that lusophone african literature by african writers is underrated, it should gain the same value and recognition that french and english african literatures have.
We totally agree! This is one of the goals that we want to achieve with the Macondo Literary Festival. Please check out other videos as well, for example the ones with José Eduardo Agualusa from our 2022 festival. Enjoy!

Muito interessante a conversa com a Dina Salústio, a primeira romancista cabo-verdiana. Pena é que se tenha omitido os nomes das pioneiras das letras caboverdianas, como Maria Gertrudes Ferreira Lima ("a Humilde Camponesa"), Maria Luísa Senna Barcelllos ("a Africana") , bem como de grandes escritoras dos anos cinquenta a setenta do século passado, como Maria Helena Spencer, Iolanda Morrazzo e Orlanda Amarílis, sem falar das muitas mulheres escritoras, contemporâneas de Dina Salústio.
Parabéns a Dina Salústio uma poetisa e escritora que sempre defendeu o papel da Mulher na sociedade caboverdiana. Sou caboverdiana e sei o que custa ser Mulher num país que apesar de tudo vive em Democracia. Mas na minha terra a Mulher é uma força da Natureza. Lutamos para uma lei de paridade. E Mulheres como Dina Salústio nos dão força e coragem para lutarmos pela igualdade de género. Obrigada Dina um bem haja.
