Hike #140N: Twin Peaks, San Gabriel Mountains (Angeles National Forest), CA (Narrative Version)
Visit Date: 9/17/22.
Hiking Twin Peaks, San Gabriel Mountains (Angeles National Forest), CA.
Twin Peaks is a lightly visited hiking destination along Angeles Crest Highway. The hike is strenuous due to the fact that there are steep climbs to reach them and also when coming back. Aside from that, the destination is reachable to anybody who is willing to put in a reasonable amount of effort. Personally, I would recommend a cool day, which might make all the difference. This was my third visit to Twin Peaks East, but my first visit to Twin Peaks West. One more San Gabriel Mountains peak gets checked off. I don't have too many left!

I love this peak! These random ones are the best! I did this one twice; the second time back in 4/2022, I also back door climbed Pacifico, and looped back on 3N17! Most of my latest peak, summit, hill climbs near San Diego lately have been unnamed, random ones as well! If you ever make it down here, the Laguna Mountains have TONS of random, unnamed peaks, some on Peakbagger, and some I got only from the topo maps! Sevearl of them only have elevation contours, and the chaparral is thin on many of them, making cross-country mild, or even easy on several!

I know I originally saw this peak on a Brian Powell video. This one and Few other videos were born out of your experiences. I gladly followed in your footsteps with the knowledge I needed. Hopefully I can do a few of the San Diego ones at some point. Meanwhile, you are doing a good job of knocking off the sites down there!

Awesome hike and video! Tecuya is on my list whenever I can get up that way again! The San Emigdio Mtns. are underrated for great hikes! I once tried getting to nearby Escapula Peak some years ago but missed the faint track to get to it, but ended up on a lesser summit called Tecuya Ridge West (6,740'), and it was before I did videos, unfortunately! I also once did Brush Mtn (7,050') combined with San Emigdio Mtn (7,492'), and that was a fantastic hike as well! The range has great views of Mt. Pinos, Central Valley, and Frazier Mtn!
