Flat Rock Jewelry & Exchange - Melting Scrap Gold Jewelry into Bar for Assay Test.
How would you approach: Nano particles of Platinum and Palladium material (keyword "NANO" size) mixed in fine dirt? I have pounds and pounds of this material, but I'm unsure to what the best approach would be to refine it. I'm interested in the Fire Assay approach. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
Hi just wondering if it’s real gold and you put acid on the jewelry piece will it have a brown mark
What if a pawn shops don't do the acid test, should I be suspicious of them?
Why does the gold from cheap gold tone jewelry stay gold with an acid test? I tried this for fun once and the acid did not dissolve the cheap streak.
the powder is flux>we using in fire assay borax+pottassium nitrate.
I placed my items into a cup of water after testing, will this method safely neutralize the acid?
thanks for showing to file the jewelry that was a good extra trick to have.
I now work on a gold shop and i have troubles with tri-color gold. i cant tell if is real or not. i brought my own tri color from home stamped "goldstar" 10k and when i poor 14k acid on the file chain it starts to bubble green. and their is a residual blue spot on the napkin. It passes the test on my stone and it is not magnetic. now i read at another website that 10k white gold is supposed to bubble green with 14k gold. so confused.
bad example he should wear gloves, i do those tests on my work and i had some acid on my finger it turned out yellow for like 3 weeks
@mrwfraser if you use 14k acid on 22k the gold line does not react, so it stays on the stone
Does it matter about the strength of magnet
Hi i have a question, when i by 14 kt gold sometimes when i put the acid it should stay shining right? but some of the pieces i put it changes to a DARK orange or redish color?can you please tell me what that means? and i do know they're gold.... thank you great video
nicely done. only thing i'd say is that i never use a touchstone, because i've seen a lot of jewellery that has passed other jewellers' touchstone tests as gold, but turns out to be plated with the barest scratch of a file.
Have you used any other brands of acids? I am debating whether to get JSP or PuriTEST. what is your recommendation?
Cesar C I use puriTEST and it have the same aftermath, wish I coulda told u 5 yrs ago
@vpremenjr Illegal? How so? You don't need to be experienced buying scrap gold, its very easy to do.
@waltairperes its borax man
thanks for sharing!!!
i gotta a question wut if the testers put acid on it straight up and it still melts away i gotta 10k chain
What if you used a 22K or 10K acid tester? What would happen to the scratch mark? Thanks!
@FlatRockJewelry i almoust never use the acid, i see color, texture and weigh, i only taste with 10 k thats hard
Thanks for clarifying
So you have to damage the jewelry to test it? What if you scratch it and then it's not real and you don't want to buy it, wouldn't the customer be mad you scratched their jewelry up.
