Door and Fender Replacement on a Mercedes S550 with Complete Door Disassembly
Replacing the damaged fender and door on my 2007 Mercedes S550. I bought the car damaged and got a great deal on it. I drove it around for about a year with the damage and finally got a little time to fix it. I bought some used body-colored panels online and had them shipped to me. The door I bought was just an empty shell so everything inside needed to be transferred over.

I had a leaking wheel cylinder on the passenger side which contaminated the pads. The drum was almost out of spec and the self-adjusters were pretty gummed up. I just replaced everything. The rear drums were bled but it was about 30 minutes of me playing with a horrible Harbor Freight vacuum pump.

    Same issue with that darn airbag light. But I was recently putting in LED's for all dash lights, and kept popping the dash light fuse with the cupholder light, so just left that little bastard out. Also remembered my passenger airbag disable switch used to light up.. Turns out that unit stops working if the bulb pops (and airbag light)... but soldered in a new one and all is good now. But thanks, now I know how to get at the clockspring if need be :)

    Just add top water to 1/4 gallon of any windshield washer. It works for me. Salt stains the windshield when it dries.

    • @ShadsGarage

      The blue Mercedes stuff is the right one. Pretty pricey though. You can also use Zerex G05. Do not use anything that says DEX-COOL on the bottle.

      @@ShadsGarage do u have any idea what’s causing my washer fluid to run low in a day an I noticed my low coolant light comes on a few days after top off. For the amount of coolant I’ve had to add I should see a small puddle on the ground but I don’t

    • @silentbutdeadly3466

      I seen a few threads about coolant getting into the washer reservoir from the heating element inside the reservoir but I don’t know if that’s the problem but no coolant puddles on the ground but I seen a few drips for the first time on the passenger side right behind the fog light area but I don’t know if it’s even leaking from that area it could b running from somewhere else . I’ve had my 09 S550 two weeks an had to add coolant twice in 2nd week

      @@silentbutdeadly3466 Low coolant or low washer fluid? I'll address both. If you notice your low washer fluid light on, it's either a leak in the system, it's evaporating, or it's a false reading from the sensor. Luckily, the cap is huge and you can look inside. If it actually is going down, you can rule out a false reading. That means it's leaking somewhere that's hard to notice or it's evaporating. Do you live in a hot climate? Is your washer fluid cap missing? Are the washer fluid tank coolant hoses still sealed to the washer fluid tank lid? I know my seals rotted away and I had to back them with foam. Engine heat would cause excessive evaporation if you have an opening in the tank. Look on the ground for a stain(amber, blue or green). It may be dripping onto the ground and soaking in. It is water based. Now for the coolant. If you're losing coolant at a fast rate and you can't actually see it on the ground, you're either burning it or it's leaking into another fluid reservoir. Do you have any smoke out the tailpipe? Check your oil, transmission fluid and power steering reservoir. It will look milky of coolant has contaminated it.

      @@ShadsGarage I check the oil everything clean . Yesterday I did see a few drops in front of the passenger tire area but I looked an couldn’t see any hoses leaking so i topped it off an hasn’t leaked since . Weird . So I’ll drive today an see if it runs low again. I filled the coolant jug on the 28 th of sept an had to add coolant on the 4 th of oct an when I filled it on the 28th it was preety low cause it took almost a gallon of antifreeze

      Try the "bug remover" type of fluid. It has a tendency to work when the regular stuff doesn't.

    • @ShadsGarage

      It's a good trick for washer fluid that's already full. For your next fill up, use the fluid with bug remover in it (pink instead of blue) and it ought to register properly.

    What part was it for the passenger airbag?

    • @ShadsGarage
      @ShadsGarage 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn't mess with the passenger airbag. I did replace the passenger airbag dash switch but that didn't do anything. It was just cheap from eBay and I could rule it out. If your passenger airbag light is out on the dash, chances are that you have a faulty clockspring.

      Sorry for the late reply. The clockspring fixed it but it died again after a year. I did buy an extremely cheap part at around $65 from eBay. If it breaks again, I'm going to have to pony up the big bucks and buy a factory replacement which, I believe, is around $200.

    All I did was take a glass of water and put some salt in it. Stirred it and then added it to the washer fluid that was already there. Worked like a charm thank you so much.

    • @ShadsGarage
      @ShadsGarage 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since I did this, I found out that washer fluid that helps remove bugs will trip the sensor without salt. Of course, that does you no good if you already filled up with regular washer fluid.
