I don't get the connection between your checked bag on an airline and doing laundry on a cruise ship. 35$ a bag is pricey. Especially if you have a family and you're sailing for 7+ days. And do you have tips for non-Diamond members?

I'm doing Rome for 3 days before flying out to Greece.

I am not a cruising person, but considering it due to age. Turkey is one of my favorite places to visit for a month at a time because of all the Greek and Roman sites in addition to the Turkish ones. Found Turkiye very friendly and affordable.

Depending on the Port, I will self guide if sights walkable. However, I do remember the Shop Keepers being very aggressive, I.e. following me down the Grand Bazar alley in Istanbul so I have book a ship excursion to see Ephesus. Good info, thanks.

Magens Bay is a park. The fee you pay goes towards maintaining the look and beauty of the park. It does get crowded on days when we have multiple ships in port, which is why if there is more than one ship in, we'll wait and go a different day.

I plan on going to the new beach resort that royal Carribbean is building. I wasn’t impressed with Nassau as a whole. We did a jeep island tour when we were there.

We have people to do that and pack away at the end.

My cruise in October has only 5 1/2 hours in Ephesus so I am using the NCL shore excursion. There are three other cruise ships in port that day so it might be more crowded than usual.

Another option is to place all the “loose little items” like socks, bras and undies in drawers and t-shirts, leggings, knit skirts or dresses and (folded) casual pants or shorts in the cubbies of the wardrobe.

Yup… done that too.

We've been cruising for 35 years, and we have an even better method. What we do is unzip the tops of our packing cubes, flip them underneath the cubes, and put the cubes (as is) into drawers and onto shelves. No reason to unpack the cubes other than the things you're going to hang. Everything stays neater and easier to find. We have used this method for short 5 -7 day cruises, longer 14-18 day cruises, even longer 32 day cruises and even a 5-week long vacation traveling via train, ferry and ship through Scandinavia (in winter). As far as the hangers making noise, just take the belt of your robe and tie them up.

We were cruising around Alaska. We were headed for 100 mph winds. Our captain turned the ship around and sailed across the Gulf of Alaska to keep us away from the high winds. We missed seeing two ports, but we were safe. A very smart captain!

My nieces at Santorini got confused with ship time vs local time. They ended up running down the steps to make the last tender !
