Photographing Canyon Falls
A second vlog only 12 days later! I don't have an aim to be regularly uploading with this kind of frequency, but it was super neat to get out to Canyon Falls recently and shoot some pictures. Come along with me on this mini-hike that has more to offer than just waterfalls.

Hey there! Been a minute. I explain some things in the intro, but essentially I'm back and I want to make photography vlogs while I'm living in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Lots to see and do so today we're starting with a hike beside a creek where I take a stab at a few compositions. In the future, I'll be aiming to provide vlogs that take you along with me on my adventures, but I always like t...

I put the two cameras side by side and just nerd out for a bit. Let's talk about some of the differences between the a7III and the a7IV, both inside and out. #Sonycameras #Sonyalpha #Sonyalphaa7IV www.DavidSargent.cc _DavidSargent
Fisherman's Island State Park

Spring has sprung and the snow is nearly gone. Check out Fisherman's Island with these cool blue Lake Michigan waters whipping around. I'm enjoying making these drone videos at places I've spent a lot of time doing traditional landscape photography. Lyrid Meteor Shower & Milky Way Rising
มุมมอง 406 ปีที่แล้ว
I went out the night after peak showing and was able to capture a great many shooting stars in the sky. Here's a couple quick timelapse sequences to show you my view of the night in Charlevoix, Michigan. Additionally, I'm really happy to know how well the milky way galaxy can be seen over the lights of Charlevoix at night. Not bad for just a couple minutes from my house! Music by Joakim Karud t...

Blue Ice in Mackinac
มุมมอง 616 ปีที่แล้ว
450 images processed into a short timelapse showing off the rare blue ice piles in Mackinac City right under the Mackinac Bridge. I had more fun just witnessing all the people who came to explore! I used the Nikon D500 with a 10-stop ND filter to be able to drag out the shutter speed to a second even in broad daylight. - Music by Joakim Karud th-cam.com/users/joakimkarud - www.DavidSargent.cc F...
Vlog 3. Beachweather Walk
มุมมอง 477 ปีที่แล้ว
In northern Michigan, summers are fantastic. Charlevoix comes to life as the weather gets warm. My walks around town with Aurora are becoming more exciting and I thought I'd share what we were lucky enough to be exposed to every day this summer. All filmed on Samsung Galaxy S6 Active. Vlog 2. Long Exposures - Photography on the Beach
มุมมอง 1497 ปีที่แล้ว
*Edit* - Thanks all for the input! I think I'll be switching to landscape orientation going forward. I should get less of a headache from TH-cam about it providing up to 4k options for this as well. My second vlog is here! Thanks for checking it out. I'm still only experimenting with vertical video, so if you hate it, tell me. My reason? I can throw it on Facebook and Instagram stories and fill...

A very decent vid, some decent photos. Heck, if they were mine I’d probably print one. For me on an outing like this one, I’d replace the 50mm with a macro lens, (26:30). But that’s me, not U! Happy shooting. I’ll sub & look for your next. No hurries. Rather have quality over quantity. Happy holidays to you & your family.
Thanks for watching! I don’t currently own a macro, although u do always carry some macro rings with me in my bag. I do however tend to use my Sigma 150-600 for faux-macro work in a pinch. Its close focus distance under 190mm is really impressive. I don’t always expect to make portfolio work on every outing and am a strong believer that you have to shoot often (and swim in the mediocre work sometimes) to recognize the good stuff. I’d rather have the opportunity to learn from 1,000 bad images shot in a year than to not take the shots and only have a couple good images to show. But that’s just my take.
black river falls west of 581
Yeah! I hit that spot back in June. Bugs ate me alive but well worth the drive over.
dudeeeee!! i was at that concert too!! it was sickkkkk!! 🤘🤘
i was at your concert on wednesday july 31st in ellsworth😊 great job it was awesome! keep up the great work❤
Yoooooo I was at your concert this weekend it was bombbbbbb
I like this!
Michigan is awesome. I visited Clarkston for a phish show went up to whitefish point. I’m from Florida and I enjoyed my time up there a lot. Looking forward to visiting again
Been here 3 times. 2/3 were very enjoyable. The 3rd time was during some weird swarm of insects that made it just miserable. Hopefully not a common occurrence. I definitely plan to visit it again
Nice job. I like the edits
Beautiful video David. Very excited that you got a drone!!
Visit Charlevoix Thank you! I'm very excited for what this year's work with the drone will bring. Thanks for watching!
You're very welcome! Can't wait to see more videos.
th-cam.com/video/e-cBFg4Gt4A/w-d-xo.html footage thief?
Ryan That looks to be the case. Thanks for pointing this out. Luckily they didn't get much attention with my content. I've reported the video and tried to make contact with the uploaded to have it removed.
Very beautiful ☺
Nice work! Between the D500 and the D750 which one do you prefer for milky way photography/time lapses?
Dorian Martinez Preciado I actually don't own the D750. I don't even own a full frame body. But I have heard from others who say that if you don't mind a crop sensor, the D500 is a much better buy. The body is much more durable. It's a more professional setup and built similarly to the new D850. You would not be disappointed.
Super love this and all of the captures of the beach walk. The music fits PERFECT with it also. Wishing you a ton more success with your channel! :) check out adventure channel if you would like!
Thanks for the support! It means a lot to hear it's being enjoyed. Definitely motivates me to keep going and to keep striving for it to get better with each go.
David Sargent it will get better and better I'm sure! Keep staying positive and striving for better always! You'll get more subs in no time.
Rylee Trapp I appreciate that!
Love the video, but pass on the vertical video for my part. Glad to see another Nikon shooter. I do my photography on a d800e. I vlog on an RX100. Come check out my vlog if you get time. Thumbs up!
Isaac Abner will do. Thanks for your feedback!
I really enjoyed this video, how long have you been doing youtube for?!
Thanks for watching! I used to do a ton of timelapses and collaborated with a musical artist in the town I used to live for a couple of years, so I'd uploaded fairly frequently for a while, but took a break from production as I had my first child and moved back near family, but now that we're settled in, I plan to focus again on some video production and I'm really enjoying this style of shooting. I guess, simply though, I've been on here for almost two years now showcasing work. I also used to study cinematography, so that's why I have some more traditional film styles in on my page too.
Looks good. Personally, I don't like it because all that black area seems like wasted space. A few months back, I bought an app called InShot (for iPhone). When I do record a video in portrait, I use that app to create the blurred background affect. Then I upload that video.
Frank Erazo oh I totally understand. the intent was to be able to full screen on your phone in portrait mode so that there are no black bars and you can hold your phone more comfortably. perhaps I'm wrong, so maybe the next vlogg will be in landscape orientation. Thanks for your feedback! I really appreciate you watching and thinking about it.
Hi David, your time lapse work is outstanding, do you have any tutorials ? I am using the d500. Thank you.
It is a very beautiful time-lapse have clouds flow beautifully. I have to take a time-lapse of the Japanese landscape.
Thanks! I really loved the movement of the clouds as well here.
Great work ! What are you filming with ? Where is it ? I subbed to your channel, have a look at mine ;)
appreciate the sub! I shot this with a Nikon D500 just at the end of my road in Marquette County in Michigan's U.P.
Good work! What settings and lenses did you use for the two sequences?
both were shot on the tokina 11-16mm DX II. the first shot at f/5 1/300s, iso 100. the second was shot at f/2.8, with 8 second exposures at ISO 4000, though, next time I'll be extending the exposures and reducing the iso most certainly to reduce noise.
Thanks!
You do such awesome work!!! Love the song. I've never heard this guy before, just checked out his album, sweet stuff. Thanks :)
Thank you! CORY is a very talented artist. Love working with him any chance I can get and I know he appreciates your interest in his work too.
David, first of all, amazing compositions! Then, we appreciate decision to change music from the usual new age based one's, but this one seems not to be aligned to the compositions. Suggest you watch to some strange choices ( Motion 4K vol. 2 by Yuri Palma is a very unusual music, but it works!!) and better fine tuned on choices
Thank you for watching and I do appreciate the feedback. One thing I do need to work on is being patient enough to find the perfect music for the setting. I do like the music I chose, but I know there are even better fits for my type of work, so I really do connect with what you're saying and will keep trying harder to find the right fits for my style of video.
According to his last interview, Yuri Palma has listened 200 piece of background music before chosing the proper one for his Vol. 2 of Motion...
I don't think I will get over how beautiful your work is DJ. You put so much into it, and it really shows.
Thanks man, I really appreciate that!
Hey dude, a channel called FreshBrownie's sent me here, im glad he did this channel is really cool, keep up the good work man!
Thank you!
Thats cool man, I make timelapses in photoshop, would you mind coming checking my channel out?
Very cool David! Thanks for the mention :::))
+Eric Paré Always - Thanks for your teachings and inspiring work!
Very nice, is it HDR or just single exposures?
Thanks! Single exposures only here.
