    I also bought a Nintendo light gun from Ebay to build a blaster. Mine's smaller overall but I like the aesthetic choices you made. I especially like the idea of the metallic undercoat with the chipped black paint over the top. I'm going to seriously consider doing that for my prop build. I think this is a very good effort all things considered. As another commenter said, the gun is unbalanced and the single scope mounting point would get out of alignment the first time it gets bounced around in a bar brawl. Despite you saying early in the video that you don't want a blaster as big as a stormtrooper's, you pretty much ended up with something that's about as big, at least as far as length is concerned. With all of that said, there are plenty of examples in Star Wars itself of horribly impractical blaster designs. I see this as more of a two-handed carbine (the rope wrap makes a great forehand grip) that could be fired one-handed if need be (but probably not very accurately). Adding another scope ring toward the eyepiece would provide more rigidity. I don't really mind the absence of a trigger guard. Lots of real world guns didn't have trigger guards, especially early revolvers. A bounty hunter who's going to use some home-built kit like this likely doesn't care about protecting the trigger from accidental use anyway. Nice work, especially for your first video!

    Vaseline works better for weather it. Mustard sometimes leave a yellow color on the first layer. Tooth past works too and leave it smelling good lol

      Pistol grips are held by screws on real guns so having screws on a prop doesn’t really detract from the gun but it’s everybody preference when doing your own

      They can be pronounced interchangeably. It just so happens that "greebles" is the less common plural term despite George Lucas coining the term "greeble" for a singular thing instead of "greeblie". You can hear Adam Savage use either greebles or greeblies interchangeably.

    I haven't played fallout, but this pistol looks pretty cool. You have a nice easy to follow, step by step "How to" video here. I am surprised that you bought a new nerf blaster for this, as a builder of stuff I have a crate of old and broken nerf blasters that I have paid cents for or been given for free. They are often very cheap from goodwill shops, or if you have freinds and family with children - let them know you will take their old blasters.

    • @craftforgeacademy
      @craftforgeacademy 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely, totally recommend the goodwill option. I just happened to be at Target, and for $6, seemed reasonable to pick up while there.

    I am impressed with your 3D modelling skills, that is a skill I still need to learn. While I understand your design choice with the red wire, but I just don't like it. but each to our own. Kylo's handle had so much wiring because his lightsabre was badly damaged and always on the verge of exploding. Overall you made a much better looking lightsabre here, than my last one. th-cam.com/video/6y6iXudJ9UI/w-d-xo.html

      3D modeling a lightsaber is actualy really easy, i didn't have any experience with 3D modeling and was able to make a full lightsaber that looked cool in about 3 hours and just watched a single tutorial video ( I used fusion 360 to design it its for free)

  • @ArmouryTerrain

    I do not like your pistol. Before I go into reasons let me say that your video has a nice bright clean look to it. Your video production values are great with clean audio (maybe the music was a little loud) good lighting and steady camera work. Your construction methods and weathering techniques are worth watching, and you do not waffle on and on about other non build things. I really enjoyed your tutorial style and have subscribed to see more videos. Why don't I like your pistol? except for the rope not being dark enough to match the rest of the grime, everything else is about the design. Most of these problems would go away if it were big enough to be a carbine instead of a pistol. 1. no trigger guard 2. the front of the pistol looks heavy and unwieldy. This makes it slow to draw and hard to aim 3. the sight. with only one mount it would get knocked out of alignment all the time and the placement of the mount adds to the pistols front heavy problem. 4. holster. this pistol would be a pain to put in a holster and a nightmare to draw. We all make things differently and while I don't like your pistol, I am sure that many will. I look forward to your next video, please don't let this comment get you down - I think that your channel is going to rock if you keep putting out videos like this one.

      Hi Armoury-Terrain, I really appreciate your constructive feedback on the production of the video, tutorial approach, and the practicality of the blaster itself. You are 100% correct in that I approached this build from an entirely aesthetic viewpoint, not taking into account practicality of the prop in a film world scenario. I honestly do not know anything about guns or their functionality, which as your feedback outlines, is evident in the design. Thank you so very much for your thoughtful comment, and I really appreciate you subscribing to the channel for more content.
