Project Title: Distribution and Transportation of Rainwater for Rural Communities - Mabayeni Village Project
This video provides an in-depth look into the Distribution and Transportation of Rainwater for Rural Communities project, generously funded by The Royal Academy of Engineering under the Global Challenges Research Fund - Frontiers of Engineering for Development. This vital initiative is a collaborative effort led by researchers from Manchester Metropolitan University (PI), the University of Venda (Co-PI), and collaborators from the University of Newcastle and the University of Zambia.
Filmed in Mabayeni Village, this video explores the development of a locally appropriate model for the storage, treatment, and distribution of harvested rainwater. Viewers will gain insights from community members, including local leaders, youth, and elders, who share their perspectives on the impact of improved water infrastructure. The video captures the unique landscape of Mabayeni Village through aerial shots, showcasing homes, water sources, and energy solutions, reflecting the community’s adaptation and resilience.
Voiceover by Dr. Pertina Nyamukondiwa guides the story, bringing to life the collaborative efforts to create sustainable water solutions. This project stands as a testament to the power of cross-institutional partnerships in addressing water challenges faced by rural communities.
