So you HAVE to play it in D for it to work in the most practical way then? Or is it just by choice?

When you say "low E string to D", do you mean PHYSICALLY low E string, or by pitch? ...Like, the top/thicker E string, or the bottom thinner E string? I'm guessing the top thicker one...

Bruh... I still gotta learn bar chords, tho... lol ...not only that, but finger picking with practically all your fingers on your right hand is crazy. I can only somewhat use my pointer finger and thumb for the most part... I also noticed you're using alternative tuning... very neat. I've always used standard (EADGBE) tuning. Anyway, thanks for the lesson. Ill keep practicing. I thought I was good, but meh. Lol 😅

Hello, "My Guitar" friend. Nicely done! I like the 2 opening chords on the higher register, than the open position I've used all these years--lol. I do the Jason Waldron version from his book "Finger picking the Classics" (I love that book), it has all the parts-- very similar. I posted this on TH-cam.... "way back machine"---2008 (Jerry C's version was all the rage back then too)...I got 92,000 views... until Google took over TH-cam. The view count hasn't budged much since. At any rate I subbed. 5 STARS! --Van

You can also put capo on 2nd, and it may be easier for some people instead of these chords that usually require some sort of finger flexibility (so it’s easier for beginners on capo 2! You can also look up zerotohero guitar tabs on TH-cam and find the same song in capo 2!)

Made me cry. Probably because I lost my dad 3 years ago and when listening here, it reminds me the time when I learned to play guitar, in the 90s' when I was 11/12 years old.
