I hope you are right. I've been studying the engine (by using the photos & videos) & to me it is hard to tell but it does look just like the 216, in the video. He says the engine has been replaced & that it has a 216. I could hope it is that 261 or the 235 as stated in the 'pdf' (that I linked below) but I think this guy know best. :) I will be getting it to me in Rockport TX soon (I hope). I'm in touch with a auto transport now. I hope it's not in the rain while it's waiting for me. I hope to fix it up over time & use it some when it's not raining :) . So far I believe it is a: 6409s (1.5 ton) or maybe the 6409 (i.e. the 2 ton). I would think it is that 4409 but the 4409 does not have the 2 speed axle where as the 6409(s) does. I'm looking forward to seeing the numbers on the engine & truck itself soon. Here is a link to the info, Engine is on page 86 (not of 86 on the PDF but rather on the bottom of the page) www.gm.com/content/dam/company/no_search/heritage-archive-docs/vehicle-information-kits/chevrolet-trucks/1948-Chevrolet-Truck.pdf 2024-09-20 John from Rockport TX
I see TH-cam deleted my comment because I put a link to my video on bitchute (my moniker is the same there as here) , what a chicken thing to do I worked kind of hard on it explaining what I found out about the size of the motor & such. 235.5 1948 motor.
Nice and well preserved R160. Mine has a few more miles on it but is just about as nice. Odd yours has a starter button as mine starts with just the key. th-cam.com/video/pNoMwErzzSs/w-d-xo.html
My father had one like this for years, but with Detroit 6-71 power. I don't know the model number but can't forget the body style. And those classic numbers on the gauges.
this trucks were often sold only with their hood and steringcolumn and built then as firetrucks in sweden with the swedish cabin whom is built with wood and then dresswd with plate that is nailed to the wood.
Even some dumptrucks were build in sweden...it was cheeper import the chassi and then built the rest in sweden...cars were imported in peaces and then built together in fabrics untill late 50-s early 60.s...Dodge kingsway was a plymouth body with dodge parts.
When i was 23 years old i bought a 1957 GMC Coe dump truck , mine was painted red also like yours ., i loved my truck . It came with air breaks , these are very strong trucks.
Wow judging by the dash.. The colour was Potomic Grey .one thing that is difficult to replace on Jeep Trucks is the rumming board between cab & box..these.look perfect....the nickel hood strip looks super.....My dad bought identical truck brand new.....I still got it...currently under restoration....Willys Overland....go any where do any thing.....yeah....
You look at this and you know it's got three times the beef of today's Jeep truck, the Gladiator. And anyone with two hands and the IQ of a sand eel or above can work on it.
I'm the purchaser of this truck. It's a little too big for what I want. I'll be fixing and upgrading the operating systems, gonna try to patina the paint and probably sell it after that. I wanted to make a ramp truck but it's too high. Don't want to mess with the original driveline. Keep it original is always best in my opinion.
The L series International pickups have great body lines. My favorite of all the makes from the early 50's. You might like to see my short video of my 52, in its original green paint. It was a ND farm truck and sat inside all the time. The paint still shines up like new. th-cam.com/video/zKTm0UXu320/w-d-xo.htmlsi=zgbJR_QdSAXLQjnD We did do a chassis swap on it though, as I wanted it as my daily driver and the original drive and chassis had to go after a few years of thinking and researching my options. I've owned it 22 years.
That truck looks like a total unmolested old original truck I am I H fan I am a retired truck mechanic and have worked on a lot of I H trucks up in to the 2016 s
They're an absolute beast. They were a REAL truck when the rest were only 3/4 there. They cost a little more than the big three's pickups - and people didn't realize they were worth every extra penny, so the IH died out of the pickup market.
Your truck is strong and beautiful model dump.
Absolutely beautiful, i love all those old trucks..
302 inline 6 cyl is an awesome motor

Great truck, how much did it end up selling for?
If these old engines are working well, don’t do anything to them, if it ain’t broke Don’t Fix It.
This was a grain truck used on the farm.
Brake master cylinder is under the left hand driver side with a square cover over it.
Flat__--wounds🎉
It should be a 261 6 Stove bolt. Just like the 216, but longer stroke.

Nice find. I’m unable to find the sold listing on ebay, would you mind sharing how much it sold for?
You fry the gauges with a 12-volt battery those are 6 volt gauges
Open the hood and I, not a motorhead, can identify everything I see. Can't decide if I want that truck or a time machine!!!
Beautiful
My father had a '51 pickup. I remember it well.
So sweet!
Very clean old truck.
Same year as me ! My original condition is not as good ! 😊
New channel for me, where are you located?

I was disappointed to see that this truck wasn't Detroit-powered. But the 270? 302? is pretty cool in it's own right.

Battery: 3 vents = 6 volts 6 vents = 12 volts
Nice looking truck worth the time to have it paint 2 tone colors

How much are you selling it for?
@@2Years2Farm Just try and get most of my money back out of it. I have almost 8k in it. Would sell it tomorrow for a loss at 7k.
PTO won't be working much longer if you don't start using the clutch to engage.
Good idea to garage it so no one can cut the nose off of it for wall art and sell the chasis for scrap. They are getting scarcer by the day.
Anybody else get the smell when he hopped in the cab? I did...
