In this installment of the ongoing saga of the low Bb key building project for the 1840's Rudall & Rose flute I show how I made the precise holes for the touchpieces, the fancy screws required, and the rollers. As part of the Ronnberg flute restoration project, I need to replace a couple of the pad cups on a couple of keys. The goal is to make replicas that can stand up to the arm's length test. Since money and tooling are finite commodities, I had to break this task down into easy to swallow morsels. This video shows the nuts and bolts of my approach to replicating these ~160 yr old keys.

This 170 yr old flute had a fairly old DIY repair that wasn't quite good enough. The proper repair needed provided the opportunity to show some techniques combining time honored processes with modern materials.
