Good day, the W6 is actually a 1952 Super W6 which means it has the updated larger 264 cubic inch engine. Where as the older 1946 T6 crawler has the slightly smaller 248 cubic inch engine.

That's a funny story, I had just about finished the Monster Volkswagen and I went away for the weekend. When I got back my brother and his crew had surprise painted for me. It's hard not to love it.

Thanks for the comment. To add to the confusion. The cable blade is actually run by a hydraulic cylinder on the roof. The hydraulic system is run by the rear pto, which is live to the transmission. So if your running out of power you best be on the controls getting the blade up otherwise. You have clutch, put the transmission in neutral then engage the clutch, then lift the blade, then disengage the clutch, l then back into gear, then start all over lol. The old fella who built the cab and blade assembly was very clever and by the looks of it had very limited resources. Even with all my irresponsible operating I never broke any of it.

Thanks for the comment. The snow was just warm enough or compactible for the dozer to ride up on it. If conditions had been different it might not have made it up the hill. It doesn't show how steep some of the sections are.

Thanks for your comment. It's been really fun to go back in time and see all this. I hardly ever used the computer. Now I'm hunting through computer files, flash drives, 8mm vhs tapes with the same hunger as a gold prospector. I got the fever lol.

I still have a few old nuggets from back in the day. But hopefully I can start getting some better quality videos with all this equipment.

Thanks for the comment. It sure was. We would plow this driveway every year for the customer to get to there cabin. We looked forward to this job like we were getting to see an old friend. Hopefully by the fall I can get some new footage of the old TD6.

Thanks for the comment. It's hard to tell how steep the driveway is in the video. But there's not a lot of things that would have marched up that hill the way the dozer did.

We practically duct taped the wing on but it ended up working perfectly.

Thanks for the comment. There's a ratio that I see when running older equipment. Number of hours getting paid for work, too the number of hours fixing the old equipment. That little red Crawler is still paying.

Thanks for the comment, yes it is hard to use. The digging is motion is easy, it's when you want to dump carefully but have it free fall and slam against the buckets limit stops. This footage was near that po d so it was quite soft.

Everything came together on that day. The ground being frozen, the temperature of the snow. It's difficult to see how steep the driveway really is, plowing down hill really helped.

Thanks for the comments, it worked out pretty good. The shaft was from a Combine with that large hex, I was scratching my head as to how I would pull it off. I had actually just finished changing the mounting surface of the steady rest as it came from an auction separate from the lathe. The travel of the three steady rollers I'd not long enough to get down to anything smaller then about 4" diameter, so it was the chuck or Build a big cathead fixture.

Yes, the cylinder is on the roof that goes down to the front with a cable. I had gotten it like that years ago and it worked for me for many years So the story goes it cleared two quarter sections in Northern Alberta Canada. As far as I'm concerned it has passed all design tests lol. I love your channel by the way.

I think it was built by a very clever man with few resources. I know it puts a huge amount of pressure on the front pivot leaf springs. I have run it for hundreds of hours and it has never let me down.

@@PJTVenturesInc. I have a very nice TD9 with a Heil cable blade. I see yours has the hydraulic pump on the back. It takes a little getting used to not having live power for the blade.

Oh yes, lots of pre-planning. It also helps that it is quite powerful little beast lol
