    I sold mine for a mirrorless setup. In my opinion, your better off with an r50 entry level mirrorless rather than the 5dmark IV. Absolute powerhouse but outdated and lacking especially in video but also auto focus and some of those gorgeous features that come with the most basic mirrorless.

    What did you come from before the 5D MKIV Brian? I have a 5D MKIII currently, with 6 EF lenses. The more i read about the RF line of cameras, it seems like there is always some sort of issue with them, either firmware, battery, or something else. I was able to test out my friend's R6 MKII and it crashed on me a few times just trying to take a photo. My question is would you upgrade to the MKIV from the MKIII?

    I have 2 C100 MkI & would consider upgrading, but only for a better picture quality. I don't care about 4k & taking pictures. Do newer cameras produce a much better 1k image ? My only complaint is using sd cards & having to deal with 2gb partitions. which lose data. Makes it a pita to sync with audio from my Sound Devices audio.

    Hi Brian, in full agreement with your points and considerations about the Canon 5D Mark IV, which I had the pleasure of picking up and shooting for the first time only yesterday, funnily for a wedding! It was the groom's 5D at his wedding. Being of a budget and late adopter mindset, I have been using an entry-level Nikon D3100 for a long time. Using the 5D was like driving a Dodge Challenger Hellcat SRT compared to a standard car. The robust and weighty grip and body had a reassuring feel to it. I had no clue as to how the focus system worked when looking through the viewfinder. I remember the days when manual focussing on a Canon T90 used a central circle split in in two, one half blurred, and you had to dial-up the focus ring to unblur the half circle, indicating an in-focus shot. I liked handling and shooting with the 5D. It's highlighted to me that camera technology has advanced and I think I need to think about upgrading from my D3100, especially as camera phones are increasing their quality. But you're right, camera phones will never be as fun to use and hear as a DSLR shutter.

    I thought I was done with DSLR's. However, I was invited to go to Poland next January with the press corp to cover the 80th anniversary of the Auschwitz Liberation. Since it's ridiculously cold there, I'm actually taking the dslr's simply due to battery life and since the ceremony is in the evening, I think having an ff (I normally shoot fuji crop) will make things just better. So no, there is always going to be a place for dslr's

    The 5D4 is all the camera any average photographer will ever need. Anything else is just a gimmick. I shoot professionally and as a hobbyist. My clients are EXTREMELY happy with my work. Mirrorless, sensor stacking, blah blah blah, is nothing but obsoletism. You can justify the leap from film to digital for obvious reasons. However, not so with mirrorless. You’d really have to pixel peep and, tech that really doesn’t serve a practical purpose. Some people simply just love chasing tech but, really have way too much camera to even handle.

    • @820e4cf7jh
      @820e4cf7jh 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@QuranSprouts Yes it is. It’s a FANTASTIC camera in ALL areas of photography. Don’t listen blindly to a lot of the videos you find on TH-cam. Most of those are nothing more than influencers pushing tech for a quick buck. Most amateur photographers simply CHASE the “next big thing” thinking it’s going to help their skill levels. You don’t NEED mirrorless UNLESS you’re doing mirrorless work. Having lowlight capabilities, having a gazillion focal points is great! HOWEVER, in a VAST amount of situations, it’s TOTALLY unnecessary. Work on your skills, and the rest will follow. 👍🏾

    I have shot with Camcorders for 20 years . tryed DSLR its a complete waist off money wrong formfactor and mostly useless on the field . I recommend you to grab any DSLR / systemcamera use it at a airshow film some fighterjets doing a demofly where you need to zoom alot have focus and follow it . That dont work with a DSLR , they are not build or shaped / formed for that in any way . And no i m not a fan off a blurry background "cinema wannabe something" the eyes on a normal person dont see like that anyway . its something made up . Good thing when people get on the hypetrain get there DSLR cameras is you can find very nice & very cood camcorders for very nice cheap prices . And shuld you keep post on youtube and edit in your homecomputer stay FULL HD . saves space easy to work with and gets very good results . Best regards :) And most bigger broadcast companies use PRO Camcorders . Wish i could afford one off those :)

    I have to say that I love my 5DIV. It replaced a 5DIII, and it is a better camera, but I honestly could have still been using my 5D III and that would have been fine. New cameras always claim to offer more. They sometimes do, at other times they offer more, but it doesn't really change the game, and at other times the "improvement" is more hype than anything. Since I'm mostly a stills photographer the 5DIII did everything I needed it to do. However, I really do like the dual pixel autofocus and the touch screen on the 5DV.

    My 5DIV is my go to professional camera. I have other choices, but I always seem to grab it. Why? The controls are so logical, and I know it is reliable. I agree that in today's time any reasonable camera can take awesome photos. You could do professional work with an entry level DSLR or mirrorless camera. In fact, I did that in the recent past as I needed to have a very small and nimble camera for an extended job that had me climbing ladders and going all sorts of other gymnastics. The basic small camera (a Panasonic 43) did the job, but it was pretty tired when the 6 month project ended. In fact, it took a tiny tumble and the lens busted. That would not happen with a 5D. There will always be newer cameras with better specs, but cameras from over 10 years ago can still take amazing photos in the right hands.

    UGH honestly bokeh is soooooo over rated. Our eyes don't see things that way in real life. I'd go nuts and see my eye doctor if everything in the background was blurry while focusing on something up close. Blurry backgrounds are actually annoying, I'd rather see the context of where a subject is but I guess that's just me. Also, DLRs are fine for static shots but god help you if you want to zoom in or out while recording. Give me a smooth motor with a zoom rocker and parfocal lens any day if you're running and gunning.

    This is what I currently have and I must need to mess with the settings more to get what I want. I've found that the Manual settings are more tricky to navigate compared to my previous camera for some reason. Probably user error. My biggest hang up is the lack of a flip screen. As someone who takes self portraits the majority of the time, a flip screen would be amazing. The canon connect app is a thing, but it's especially spotty for me and is usually slow or refuses to connect at all (why the flip screen would be helpful).
