Trackletics Live #37 Unveiling the Journey: Inside the Mind of Rising Track Star Colin Sahlman
We're excited to bring you another episode of our live interview series featuring some of the most talented and inspiring individuals in the world of Track and Field. From olympic athletes and coaches to nutritionists, sports performance specialists, and sports psychologists, we're bringing you an inside look at the world of Track and Field like never before.
On this episode of Trackletics Live, our host Samar had the pleasure of speaking Colin Sahlman. Colin has been making waves in the sport with his impressive performances and dedication to his craft. In this interview, he shares insights on what it takes to become a top performer, and his experiences on what it takes to succeed in the world of Track and Field.
A Glimpse into Colin's Journey
Colin's journey into the world of track and field began with a simple twist of fate. After a football injury sidelined him, his mother, a former collegiate runner herself, nudged him towards track and field. Little did he know, this chance encounter would spark a lifelong passion for the sport.
Discovering a Passion for the Track
From his early days on the track, Colin fell head over heels in love with the sport. What started as a casual interest quickly blossomed into a full-fledged passion. Whether it was the thrill of competition or the joy of running alongside friends, Colin found solace and purpose on the track.
From High School Glory to Collegiate Success
Transitioning from high school to college brought new challenges and opportunities for Colin. Despite being part of one of the nation's top high school distance teams, he remained humble and hungry for success. Joining Northern Arizona University (NAU) proved to be a game-changer, thanks to the exceptional coaching staff and supportive team environment.
Navigating the Road to Success
Colin's journey has not been with out hurdles. From injuries, grueling workouts to fierce competition, he's faced his fair share of obstacles along the way. However, it's his unwavering focus and commitment to excellence that set him apart. Instead of dwelling on setbacks, Colin channels his energy into honing his craft and pushing himself to new heights.
The Importance of Mental Toughness
One of Colin's greatest strengths lies in his mental fortitude. In a sport where every second counts, staying mentally resilient is paramount. Whether it's blocking out distractions or overcoming doubts, Colin approaches each race with a champion's mindset.
Setting Goals and Chasing Dreams
As Colin sets his sights on the future, his goals are clear: to become one of the best athletes in the NCAA and compete on the world stage. With the Paris Olympics on the horizon, Colin remains focused on his journey, one step at a time.
Words of Wisdom
For aspiring athletes looking to follow in his footsteps, Colin offers sage advice: Focus on your journey, not someone else's. Stay true to yourself, trust in your abilities, and never lose sight of your dreams.
As our conversation with Colin comes to a close, one thing is abundantly clear: his passion for track and field knows no bounds. With his eyes set on greatness and his heart set on victory, Colin is poised to leave an indelible mark on the world of sprinting.

This was a great interview. I have two sons. Isaiah and elijah bates. Isaiah ran 10.24 in 12th grade battling injuries. Won the kansas relays in 10.41 and wasn't pushed. His little brother isn't as gifted but works hard to run 12.2. Sometimes talent levels are different but if you work hard you can accomplish great things. Hopefully elijah can taste success by keep working. We are in a high school where the graduating class is usually 25 kids which puts us in a conference where usually only 2 or 3 kids can break 12 in the 100m. I liked the idea of overspeed hills and weighted step ups. Great job guys. Loved this as well as all the videos. Keep up the good work
