OMG I am so glad to have stumbled across this video! There are VERY, VERY few videos about this topic which is sad. This issue is very important and needs to be discussed more. Im a gay Black man myself with a similar body type, but older than you. Same issues, nothing has changed in all these years. I came of age in the 90s and homophobia in society was much worse then. I moved to Washington DC from a small suburban area right after graduating from high school and there was a thriving gay Black community there in the late 90s and early 2000s. I finally began to come out of my shell. But then I attended a small isolated HBCU that was EXTREMELY and VIOLENTLY homophobic towards male students in particular. ..so I went back into the closet to survive living in a collegiate community, which is crazy thinking back on it now. I didn't officially come out until many years later because I was affected so badly by that experience. Had a child along the way and she is my heart. I gave this testimony to say that we should be more patient with our gay brethren, especially our gay Black bretheren because we have all been through h3ll. We shouldnt accept or settle for toxic behavior, but we should have more compassion and empathy for one another. Who will understand us better than us? Nobody. In American culture, men are raised to be emotionless especially towards one another. It is time to change the narrative. Once this happens, navigating the dating scene will be much easier. You are making the points and I see potential in you to go far. What you need is to be more enlightened why things are the way it is. Does it come with age maybe but I don't think so. For me, it came with being with tons black men mostly married and a few white men. I was always analyzing these men unbeknownst to them. Then I compared notes with all my black gay friends we all had the same stories. Then there were the older black queens who schooled me. There's no such thing as a straight man period! I Wish there was a way I could talk to you young black gays. This social media crap is not working. Losing so many older black gays to AIDS we lost the thinkers and the creators. Younger black gays have taken up the language of white gays and they have nothing for us as well. The homophobia has gotten worse in the black community since I came out 49 years ago.Black gays never used the word queer that came from the white queens. Reaching already ignorant black folks the language matters and I'm trying to get that through young black gays heads. Nothing has changed in 49 years only that we've become more ignorant. That's why im creating space for older and younger black gay men in my city to come together.

I am black and gay I been gay all my life and from a young age of being gay I never told no one , till recently I told my ex wife who is my best friend I am gay and gay people is revolving , gay marriage is legal now and I know that guy is coming for me and i am coming for him ,

These fat, out of shape black guys kill me when they cry because a guy who exercises, is in shape and takes care of themselves is problematic. No one is perfect. But if I take care of myself, I would like my partner to do the same thing. They think other guys are supposed to be unhealthy to make unhealthy people feel comfortable.

It took years of therapy to find out the unconscious motivation of finding love: actually that what I was calling love was really protection and safety. Where the love of my life and I would become an unbeatable team against the world. For me as black guy I had to face violence, racism, hate, shame. ( I grew up in a black poor community in Rio de Janeiro ( favela). Normally that a white person don't face too much.
