I found Curt on here years ago on his ghillie suit video.Subscribed ever since
Good shootin
@@BrothaAustin thanks dude!
Good shooting , but I dont see any follow through. I train myself by making sure my release hand touches my rear shoulder on release . That helps me not pluck out on the string and release in the exact opposite direction as the arrow is going. Try a few , it may help
@@IanHandrahan 👍🏻👍🏻
Raising your draw arm elbow after settling in will facilitate engaging your rhomboids...your draw arm forearm, wrist and hand should have no tension with the acception of the tension generated at the hook....when you are settled in at anchor and am locked in and you can feel the string exerting pressure on the hook, you have the proper back tension....note: do not relax your hook as you feel the string tension until you release.
You must anchor even with snap shooting. The danger is in short drawing as you have done on some of the shots.
@@tomburrows3608 man I’m not shooting like that, I’d rather just anchor and make a more controlled shot. I don’t really see any benefit in it besides getting the arrow out quicker
All the old guys that love swing draw will come in and say " You're not focused on the spot!" "You have to burn a hole in that spot!"
@@jacobwilliams5271 yeah I hear that, it’s def take a little while to master. Not something I’m really interested in over a more controlled shot
Those are all the guys I coach cause they have severe target panic!
Just be consistent with whatever you do that allows you to be accurate.👍😁🏹🎯 God Bless 🙏😇❤️🇺🇸
@@anthonyforfare7223I like being able to really be on a spot vs swinging up on it, I can’t do the hill style method as accurate. I could do it if I practiced daily but I don’t think it’s my way
To much thinking and aiming. Are you gap shooting? Have you tried releasing faster instead of holding so long? Just get to anchor and pull through on release instead of all the conscious aiming.
@@mkeller8114 no way dude, i do that on a 25+ yard shot and I’ll never hit shit. Id have to practice a ton to get it down. I shot more of a split vision style not gap
Go watch the push archery videos or Rick Welch, no release is fast. I know I’ll miss more doing that vs conscious aiming
I have two black hunter longbows, Love them. Not all black hunters are cut past center. I put a 1/4 inch leather on the shelf to raise it and put a 1/16 ths to 1/8 th side plate. This centers things up.. I like the grip and the diamond wood. Never had a riser de laminate with this engineered wood..
Great form
@@ToddDorr daily struggle, but thanks
Liked mine so much I got 3 of them in different draw weights lol. Diggin the last of the Mohicans tunes!
@@MsCas3 they are excellent bows!!
Nice hat!

Leon stewart bows are awesome,
Where are you buying the centaur broad heads i can find them anywhere
Ive looked on centaur website and other places but no luck ive been seeing people use them but no luck finding any
Have to message Jim Neaves, I’m not sure if he makes them still but he may!
I’ll try and get ahold of Jim tomorrow he may can make some. I need another set.
What’s your draw length and what is the length of the centaur?
Whoops, thanks for saying the specs latter in the video!
Shooting darts man
I feel like I have more control with a glove. Either way, they both are uncomfortable until they break in. I've gone through a few gloves, and my favorite, so far, is the 3rivers Buffalo leather. With a tab, I was hitting my face and fingertips with the string.
That’s my dad
So, what are the specs on that bow? AMO length, draw weight, arrow weight and speed? I'm really curious about them. How is the grip? Low, med, or high? Slim or bulky?
58” 50@28 grip is medium, it’s a little heavy on start of the draw but then it eases into a valley like a compund and is nice.
Thanks! I'll be curious to follow how you like it as time goes on. It sounds perfect for my needs/interests. My only real hesitation with SR bows is that carbon fiber - as a material - is less elastic than fiberglass, so it's important to match draw length to limh length so as not to overstress the limbs and lead to failure. But that's often not something that shows up early. The hooks on the TG don't look as aggressive as some, so they may be less prone to that even with a short bow and longer draw length.
I hope it never has a problem but man for a recurve it’s a shooter!! They are very hard to find too and the only other person o know that shoots one is Curt Cabrera on Trad Life Films!
👊
Yep!
Your elbow is in great position just stay into your back & keep pulling. Keep your release hand tight along your neck trying to touch your back shoulder. This will eliminate your slight pluck & your hand flying out sideways instead of back along your neck. Other than that great form!
Deer close up is like crack. You’ll be chasing that dragon forever.
Hate when i do that lol
Exceeding the recommended dosage of diet pills or pre-workout then doing your target shooting really helps you practice steadying yourself for the moment of truth
You wanna be tingly
🤣🤣🤣🤣 beyond focused!!
😆
So i see you've shot a lot of different trad bows. Do you find the heavier riser recurves more accurate and forgiving than longbows?
At a further distance yes, you can hold them more stable. I always add a quiver though so that takes care of some of the weight. As far as more forgiveness that just depends on the bows grip for me. Example is a toelke 10x grip, once I learned the grip it was super accurate, but I hated the way it felt. I can pick up a centaur longbow and learn the grip and keep it and the same goes for my Timberghost Supercurve.
Does water work too?
What bow are you shooting there? Looks like a pretty short-riser super recurve. How does it do for you?
Timberghost tgx, awesome bow one of my favorites among the many bows I’ve had!!
I thought that might be it. Looks like a great bow.
Am well aware that there are skilled veteran trad hunters that use string trackers. From my perspective, the more gadgets that I employ, the potential for error exponentially increases during that coveted moment of a grand opportunity. Have successfully arrowed 42 gobs w/o a string tracker and have lost nearly zero after switching to a Tree Shark 15 years ago…the Tree Shark actually blows thru 3 out 4 birds and often actually leaves a blood trail which is rare when arrowing gobs. Have harvested, setup other trad hunters and successfully guided trad hunters using Tree Sharks w/o a string tracker…am not proposing this is the best BH, however, the blood trails routinely are illuminating…~4 ¼” entries with ~2 ½” exits.. Will be using the 250 gn Great White backed by a 100 gn insert this deer season…
As long as I can go into season with then flying well I probably will be carrying a few myself along with the woodsman. I just can get over how well the woods man heads fly, but my Simmons fly fine as well!!
I’ve tried many gloves and I just can’t do it. Found a good tab and I gotta stick with it.
I think I’m the same way, I just do better with the tab
Ah yeah
Another thing that helped me was I went to white string lighter diameter and makes it quite and fly better.
It def has some drag, I can probably adjust my nock point some and help where the arrows is landing more. I just don’t think I’m going to take the chance this season and just go without!
How do you believe it's behaving, looks like it's dragging a bit, did you pull out line till there was no drag?
the sky looks CGI. proof we are living in a simulation
🤔 the fact of the matter is….
I do the same thing and it’s always about the release for me. I know the second the arrow leaves if I did it right or wrong. Very frustrating trying to get consistent but I’m getting there.
Man my shots on game are usually only 12-15 yards but if I have that smooth draw cycle all the way through it’s getting the job done! With the 250 grains I shoot up front I have to make sure mines on point 🤙🏻🤙🏻
🔥
Are you aiming or instinctive?I'm kinda just getting started and use a fixed crawl aiming with point of the arrow and I wonder how different the arrows will hit by aiming with the broadhead instead of the field tip with them being different size/length?I dont have my broadhead target yet just a new 24" delta mckenzie speedbag
I don’t aim, its more lining riser up then staring at spot. I don’t see my arrow or bow when i shoot just the spot. I dont really call it instinctive but it’s more that method
You arer creeping forward just before the release
Thanks for noticing, I know I am.
From experience I see you will suffer from shoulder impingement in your right shoulder. It happens from your right drawing hand being to far forward when you start drawing. Please heed the warning, I don’t like the problem I created with my shoulder. Maybe start without the left pushing hand being fully extended.
Nice
Never saw anyone have such target panic shooting traditional. You are double clutching. Need to work on that.
😅
If you watch your video your creeping forward with a small collapse. Work on staying into your back with back tension then just proceed to pull until the shot breaks. You’re doing it on every shot. Nice bow
Skert
I know you didn’t waste a capri sun tho
Definitely not a snap shooter,
I see what you are doing wrong from your first shot to the second one on the first shot you hold the bow strait up and down and pull slightly with your left hand that is holding the bow throwing the arrow slightly to the left as it leaves the bow and on the second you cant the bow slightly opening your sight window for a more accurate shot that you can see.
Fun flying feathers
What’s the release you’re using
It’s a Yost pro tab brass model
how is this bow compared to a centaur?
Centaur is a faster bow. As far as an easier to shoot bow the black widow takes it! At the same weights the centaur are harder to draw back, but much quicker imo. The centaur is also a lighter overall weight bow, and with the carbon I have in mine it’s more snappy
@@ICantPutMyBowDown have you shot the centaur super curve?
No but I’ve been wanting to try one! I’m thinking it’ll be a similar feel to the longbows with a little more forgiveness on draw cycle. Once a centaur longbow gets over 45lb I don’t like to shoot them as much, they stiffen up. I like a 42-46# draw on most bows
@@ICantPutMyBowDown i'm on the list to get a bow from centaur but cant decide supercurve or triple carbon elite. I am just worried about accuracy with supercurve vs ease of shooting his longbow!
I never buy new, takes to long. I can find a used centaur daily vs waiting that long for a new one that you may not like when you get it. And you save a ton buying used
I'm guessing Apple season started June 1 in your area.. LOL.. Great shot
