Unbowed - By Daniel Reach / Pirate Anthem
I'm excited to share "Unbowed" with you! I think we're all a pirate at heart, and hope to face the world "Unbowed." I know this isn't my typical content, but I hope you'll indulge me this once.
Being my first song, as you can imagine I'm both excited and nervous to release it. As I said, this will mostlikely be a one time thing, so I hope you'll indulge me.

Verse 1
Black flag flyin' as the sun dies
Maps so tattered and worn
Compass lost we turn to the skies
In the night where legends born
Mast unbroken, sails unfurled
into the night we scream aloud
from the other side of the world
We stand free. We stand unbowed
[Chorus]
Rum Soaked and fortune's found
Cutlass drawn and voices loud
With the sea as our battleground
In the storm, we stand unbowed
Verse 2
Cannon fire lights up the night
Thunder cracks across the sky
Bracing for the coming fight
Sails are full, our spirits high
Drums pounding in the cold
Sea shanties on the breeze
Legends of treasure told
We surely die, but we die free.
[Bridge]
This I know for shore....
A pirates life is wild and free
To skull and bones I swore,
Before I surrender, they'll bury me!
[Chorus]
Rum Soaked and fortune's found
Cutlass drawn and voices loud
With the sea as our battleground
In the storm, we stand unbowed

If you use a file folder, it already has a fold and it's heavy enough to re-use indefinitely. Also, if you draw the front side, then trace it onto the other side, you can draw and cut the belt loop out of the back side without having to tape it on.

I have listened a few times and I would listen to it more. The rhythm is upbeat and the lyrics are heavy, nice combination. The bridge is my favorite part of this song. I feel that way sometimes in this world that we created. So, when I feel that way I raise my flag, raise my sword and never bow my head. I think you’re right, there is a little pirate in me 😂🏴‍☠️😂 If this is the only one or there’s more to come, all is well because creativity has no boundaries and we are listening!

I have a few questions. How do you store your project over night and work on it the next day without losing all the moisture in the leather if you can't lay it aside on a flat surface? Can you roll it up and is there a special way?

Thanks so much for helping me learn. I suppose most people do start out with a belt or wallet. Not me. I'm making some Birkenstock sandals from "scratch". I disassembled some of my old Birks to get the pattern for the uppers and somewhere along the line decided that it would be a good idea to tool them. Luckily, I'm a firm believer in watching 10,000 videos before I do a new thing and you're one of my unknowing mentors. Wish me luck and thanks for all you do.

How much does this compromise the strength of the leather if I'm using the tooled piece on a shoe or other use that needs strength for longevity? Thanks!

Sorry for being late to the show. But thought I'd share something I've done for years. I recently retired from making kydex holsters for guns. One thing I learned in High School sheet metal shop was pattern making. In my holster business, whenever i wanted to toy with a new idea or design, I used paper. Instead of using leather or kydex I will take a blank sheet of paper from my printer and use that paper to draw out, bend, fold, cut & etc. to prove my idea will or will not work. If it won't work using a piece of paper, the idea/design will not work. Cheap and fast. I've not decided whether I want to learn this craft, but your videos are helping me in my decision process. I'm older, but just can't stop learning new things. Great video and great work all round.

I wish I could get one of these Duane Watts blades but being from the UK Etsy bans us from buying knives (stupid? I know, imagine the laughter if you tried to mug someone with a swivel knife) that’s how ill thought out the laws are. I even contacted Duane but he doesn’t ship overseas. If anyone knows anywhere else in the US that sells them but will post to the UK please let me know.

    @JohnTBlock 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

I see a mistake....if you keep your axe sharp, you should put a 6/8 oz. piece of leather in front of the cutting edge, curved to the bit of the axe. With that stitched or riveted in your "taco", your sharp edge rests against leather, not stitching or rivets to get dulled on or cut through...just my .02 cents...

    • @DanielReachCreations
      @DanielReachCreations 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

You could definitely add a welt, and it would protect the stitches or the blade from the rivets. But this isn't the kind of cover where the blade is sliding against the stitches as you insert or remove it. So, not as crucial. But, I agree, a welt would be a good addition if you wanted to take it up a notch.
