I am employed and receive salary which contributes to most of my savings money saved which is easily visible in my transactions, with my salary I am eligible to borrow the amount that I plan to borrow. I also started freelancing/locumming middle of 2024 and receive money regularly from the company I freelance for (it is a well known and reputable company), this money is probably contributing to approx 1/3 of my saved money. I have not finished a full tax year of work as a locum/freelancer, but I hope to use all of the money saved towards my mortgage deposit. Would the bank have an issue with this? In terms of tax etc. ?

Hi good video thanks for sharing. I’ve got myself in a messy position of having several credit cards, was making the minimum payments fine but it got to the point where they were all running out of the balance transfer interest free period and would start accruing monthly interest. So I spoke to a debt charity in the UK I’ve setup a DMP with them and it seems my creditors have frozen any interest whilst they make payments on my behalf after I pay the charity which is a huge help. However, just 2 payments in and I’ve been sent default letters as the payments are now below the minimum payment. So if that goes on my credit file it’ll stay there for 6 years. My worry now is that I’ll have issues re-mortgaging in Jan 2026 (joint mortgage with my wife who has no defaults or credit card debts). I’ll see if I can avoid the defaults by paying the arrears and then upping the monthly payments to the charity to match the minimum payment as I’ve managed to get a better paid job and start in the next month. However as I’ve signed up for the DMP, I’m now not sure if I can do as I mentioned and avoid the defaults or whether I’d need to come off the DMP and speak to the creditors directly.

Lenders are the biggest racketeering and money laundering operations who buy and sell mortgages and forge documents, deeds and create false accounts. Mortgage means death agreement!!.Wealth by Stealth. No house is worth the price or your life. A home should not be creative financial product. What about those Endowment policies that were sold by banks to people with mortgages to pay for their end of term and then they said sell us your Endowment policy as they are not good anymore and then the banks were discovered to be insolvent and had to be bailed out by the Governments in UK and USA. Who benefited from those Endowment Policies?? Its should be people right to do checks on the Lenders!!!

(2 years later) and a "surge in ultra long mortgages" is becoming the norm, to the extent, that payback is more and more extending well into retirement. The cause of this is a simple catch22 - sickeningly high house prices, still rising, because there is more and more money handed out in those mortgages. Why? because in order to meet those insane asking prices lenders have gladly... 1) Significantly increased mortgage salary multipliers, and... 2) Significantly increased payback terms No longer does 21 years at 2.5 x your salary give you enough money to buy a house, a sensible scenario that existed for many years. --> THIS IS EXACTLY WHY the UK housing and rental market is COMPLETELY destroyed !!! --> The ONLY way to reduce house prices is to increase interest rates...once you make these ultra high mortgages unaffordable to the majority, you can rest assure that the majority of sellers will reduce prices. Quickly !!! Unfortunately, the BOE won't do this effectively, and certainly not for a long enough time as to be effective. What to do ???
